Quote HOT PINK: Quote lynnw: Happy Easter Hot Pink....it sure turned out nice, weatherwise. A bit breezy but nice. My husband is asleep and I'm getting ready to run to Walmart. I got kind of upset at my nephew's. Matthew has had a cold and you know how bad that makes you feel. Wendy wanted to make pics and he didn't smile like she thought he should and she made him go home cause she didn't like his attitude. Luckily they just live across the pasture but it made me mad. My nephew fixed a watermelon/strawberry salad with rasberry vingerette dressing and feta cheese with parsley sprinkled on top. It was pretty good but not something I'd want every day. He's the cook in that family since I doubt his wife has cooked a meal over a dozen times. She just never had to growing up. My mac and cheese, I just layer macroni noodles, then cheese, repeat and pour a small can of milk and enough plain milk to make another can, 3 eggs and salt and pepper, mixed over the noodles and bake 400 for 20 minutes. I got the recipe from an older lady I use to work with and it's good. I guess most everyone has their own recipe. Don't think I want any dinner, that salad my nephew made didn't set too well on my stomach. Hope your Easter was a good one. Hi, lynnw - It has been really nice here today, lovely and warm. My son declared that it was quite hot out and turned the air on as soon as we got home. I'm going to go turn it off in a few because HE doesn't pay the electric bill! Poor Matthew. I'll bet the cold has Matthew feeling quite bad. No wonder he didn't want to smile in the photos. I know it's hard not to say anything when things like this happens. I have to bite my tongue quite a lot with Thomas and the kids. Sure hope Matthew will feel better soon. The watermelon/strawberry salad sounded good until you mentioned the feta cheese. Sorry, I just don't like cheese in salad like these; and, to be honest, I don't like feta cheese at all. It's nice that your nephew likes to cook. Has he been to chef school? Since his wife never had to cook growing up, it's great that your nephew loves to cook so much. The mac and cheese recipe sounds good. One of my friends uses a similar recipe when she makes mac and cheese in her crock pot. It is so good. My mom fixed ham, potato salad, mac and cheese, green beans, corn and biscuits, and I brought my broccoli casserole and the bunny cake. Everything was really good. Made two broccoli casseroles and saved one for us. Didn't bake it because the it doesn't seem to taste as good when it's reheated. So, we'll have that with some chicken legs tomorrow night for dinner. It was good to have the kids back. They were happy, too. Kaitlyn kept saying she wanted to spend the night, but I told her she could another night because her daddy wanted to keep her and T.A. with him tonight. I'll let them spend the night in a day or two. I won't be cooking tonight. My mom sent lots of ham and a few other things home with us. So, if we do get hungry, we'll have something. I'm really sorry you aren't feeling very well and hope you'll feel better soon. Hope you, Hubby and Cracker will have a nice, relaxing evening. By the way, do you go back to school tomorrow? I'm not sure when our schools go back. You take care. And, again, hope you're feeling better. Hi Hot Pink....it's been a good day with great weather to finish off my vacation. I ran several errands this morning that took almost 2 hours then loaded the trash up for my husband to carry off tomorrow. The landfill is closed on Monday's. Cracker and I are out here on the patio now, she's in the chair. she's been hanging around pretty close today, probably since I've been out some. No, my nephew didn't go to school to learn to cook. He just likes to do it which is probably a good thing since his wife doesn't. He fixed deviled eggs yesterday also with bacon and spinach in them and a cauliflower casserole. The watermelon salad would probably have been good without the feta cheese. Matthew is feeling better today. They came up last evening to eat pizza and cheese stix. They think they have to finish off Sunday up here eating. Even if it's just pizza. Is your mom working tomorrow? She probably hates going back also. Our next day off is Memorial weekend, I think. That's over a month away. I believe Zachary and Avery will get out of school around that time. They start back a couple of weeks before we do and get out earlier. Guess my husband will be watching them then till I get out. He wanted to use the week eater up here beside the patio and I told him he'd have to wait till Cracker moved since it'd scare her. he didn't like that too good. I got out some chicken tenderloins for dinner. Don't know how I'll fix them. He doesn't care for b-b-que. I may try to fry his. Did Kaitlyn wear her new little outfit yesterday? I didn't get many pics yesterday. Got more of my nephew's 3 kids than anyone. See you tomorrow after school. |

At least the weather has been good for you today. Since time seems to be passing by so fast, Memorial Day will be here before we know it, then Summer. Sami is sitting in back porch doorway enjoying the fresh air. Went out of the front porch and, as soon as she finished rolling around, she was ready to come back inside. Got my hummingbird feed hung yesterday evening, but haven't seen any birds yet. I was hoping they'd come a-flying when they saw the feeder. Hopefully, they will get here soon. Not sure if my mom is working tomorrow. Kind of hope not because I don't have the gas to go to/from her house to keep the kids, and she doesn't have the gas to bring them to my place. The kids had a good Easter. They got baskets at their mom's, I fixed them one, and my mom and her neighbor got them even more candy. I won't be surprised if they get tummy aches, especially Kaitlyn since that's all she ate after I picked them up yesterday. She is definitely the jelly bean queen! She loves them! It's great that your nephew loves to cook since his wife doesn't. His deviled eggs with bacon and spinach sound good. How as the cauliflower casserole. I've never had cauliflower in a casserole. I don't like feta cheese, so I would have preferred the watermelon salad without it as well. Glad Matthew is feeling better today...just in time to go back to school. It's great that your g'kids live close enough for them to walk over to see you. That's what I'd like for mine one day. Sami hates it when they cut the grass here. They do it every Thursday, and she goes flying into the bedroom to hide when they start cutting and weed eating. Then, they come onto the front porch and blow the leaves and stuff off, and Sami goes flying again. She is definitely a scaredy cat. I'm going to fry some chicken legs for dinner tonight. I made two broccoli casseroles yesterday and didn't bake it because it tastes better freshly baked. My mom sent some mac and cheese home yesterday, so we'll have that as well. I love chicken tenderloins because they are so quick to fix. Hope you'll enjoy yours tonight. Well, I'm going to go water my (one) plant on the front porch. Hope you, Hubby and Cracker are doing well and will have a nice evening. And, hope Hubby was able to weed eat around the deck. Take care! |

Hi Hot Pink....today wasn't too awful bad but it was rushed though. I had to make 8 apple cobblers for tomorrow, which takes time and ended up opening 17 cans of pears for today. Seems like the kids eat more on Monday's or days back from break. Don't know why that is. The wind has been blowing strong today. I'm sitting out here on the patio now since Cracker is out here. She's wanting to walk around the house. Can't take your eyes off her for a minute. My stomach has been burning off and on all day. It gets like that occasionally. I ate a yogurt for breakfast and that may have caused it. I didn't taste the califlower casserole but it looked good. They eat out alot and he's always trying new dishes he eats out. Matthew didn't go to school today. Guess he really is sick. I was going to have to pick him up today. I called and he wanted a slushy from Sheetz so of course I stopped on the way home. Lowes Foods has pepsi products on sale, today the last day so I stopped and bought some. The boys go thru them like they're nothing. Hope Kaitlyn's tummy didn't hurt. I love jelly beans also, not the white ones though. I remember use to when we were small we'd go to the sunrise service and eat a bunch of candy before hand and be nearly sick when we got home. Please let me know when you see the first hummingbird. They'll probably be down your way before they are here. My snowbirds have left. The papers said this morning that this was the year without a winter. So right. The chicken tenders were good last evening I b-b-qued mine and fried his. Didn't take too long to get done. He's cooking field peas now with snaps and I'm going to make a meatloaf when Cracker decides to come in. Have a great evening. I think maybe this wind is blowing in a cool front and maybe frost tonite. Better get my plants in. |

Quote str8fan: Hot Pink and Lynnw... Happy Easter...A day late and a dollar short! Meant to send wishes yesterday, but got up and didn't feel too good. Then thought a lot of my brother's last Easter with us and fell apart. So I shut my phone off and slept till 4 pm. When I got up and noticed the time I almost dropped. There I had 6 text messages from my daughter and my friend I work for. I had woken up with a horrible pain in my back right side to my front. I could not move. When I finally rolled out of the bed, I could barely walk. This morning was worse. Almost called off work, but made it. With pain and tears. But the more I moved, the better I was feeling. I was told constantly to go home, but he is just as stubborn as I am when it comes to getting a job done. I had kidney stones, a uti, and this felt nothing like any of it. So I figured it was the bottle of Red Cat I drank! LOL. I enjoyed reading the wonderful Easter stories with families. There is no better feeling, except for the arms of the grandkids around you. Well, I am not a happy camper right now...but will need to get over it. I told you in October my nice is getting married. Well it happens to be on the same day that Celtic Thunder is coming to Wilkes Barre, just 15 minutes away! I wish she were getting married here in PA , so I could juggle both!. She is in NJ. I love Celtic Thunder, and could listen to them all day. I have a 6 CD player in the car and at one point had all 6 loaded with them. George is my favorite. Friday morning I put the radio on and heard shocking news. I had to pull over off the road. Thomas Kinkade had died. I love his work. I have a few items of his....ornaments, candle holders, Christmas nativities, and more. That was such a shock. He has a shop at Peddlers Village in Lahaska, near Quakertown. We go there for the Apple Fest and Strawberry Fest. Well, it is past my bedtime,. 2:30 will be here before I know it. But I did want to send out Easter wishes and let you know I was thinking of you and your families. Just couldn't make it to the computer. Have safe days ahead. Hi str8fan...sorry to hear you're not feeling well. It's not good to have to go to work when you're sick, although I've done it many times. Lots of times when you move around, the pain you have seems to get better. Thanks for the Easter wishes. The weather here was beautiful. That's the way Easter should be but it's not always like that. I have a friend who said once he remembered it snowed on Easter. Guess it could happen, especially when it's in March. Too bad things aren't going to work out for the wedding and the other event. Is'nt that the way it is sometimes. I loved Thomas Kinkade also. I don't have one of his paintings but would love to. Such a shame his death. I'd imagine his work will go up in price now. My cat is walking around in the yard. I have to keep an eye on her. Hope you'll keep on feeling better and better. Have a good afternoon. See you soon. |

Hi, str8fan - It's good to see you posting here again. I'm sorry you had such a bad time and were not feeling well over Easter. I hope you're feeling a lot better now. You are right about the feeling of your grandchild's arms around you. It's also the same for my son as "Uncle" to his brother's son and daughter. Right now Uncle and my granddaughter are having a blast together. It's wonderful watching them together. They absolutely adore each other. It was so sad about Thomas Kinkade. I loved his work, and wish I had gotten some of his art work. As lynnw said, the price of his work will probably be sky-high now. He was an extraordinarily talented artist. Sorry you have a dilemma with your niece's wedding and Celtic Thunder's concert being on the same day. I find that type thing happens to me a lot! Had a nice Easter. Went to my mom's for dinner and spent some time with my grandkids. They are growing up so fast. We all had a nice time together. Thanks for the Easter wishes! Again, hope you are feeling much better now. Like you, I went to work sick MANY times. It isn't fun; but, when you have a job to do, you have to go get it done. Please take care, and have a great night. |

It is strange that the kids seem to be starving when they get back on Mondays or after holidays. It's good that they do eat well. I'm guessing there aren't as many leftovers. Bet those apple cobblers will be good tomorrow. I've got canned peaches in the cupboard, so I may make a peach cobbler tomorrow. My neighbor brought me some strawberries she bought this morning just after they had been picked. I sliced them up and put a little sugar on them to bring out their juices and put them in the fridge. We'll have those tonight after dinner. It has been windy here as well. I thought we might have a t'storm earlier because I heard thunder a couple of times. But, it blew over. I'm glad I don't have to worry about Sami roaming around outside. She goes out onto the front porch for a minute or two and then she's ready to come back inside. I know you worry about Cracker when she's out. Cats are such independent creatures. There are times when Sami is so stubborn and won't do anything I tell her to do. She just stares at me as if I'm insane for even talking to her. I'd love to know what cats think. I hope Matthew will feel better soon. Does he just have a cold? I'm sure he hates being sick! I will have to get out and cover some bushes. I have an mock orange blossom bush beside the deck that's my pride and joy and it has a few blooms on it so that will definitely be covered. I hope the strawberries aren't hurt. This has been such crazy weather. We met at Southern States after work, I wanted a white azalea, which they didn't have, and I was looking at the peony's. They had some huge ones, yellow with a pinkish center. Couldn't believe the price of $78.00. Someone who collected them would have to be the one to pay that, not me. I made 5 apple pies for us, sent the other 3 to the other school and they were all gone. There wasn't room on the line so I had to cup it and that may have been why it went so fast. You're lucky that Sami doesn't care to go outdoors to often. I wish Cracker were like that. She's sitting at the door now wanting out. Guess I'll go out in a bit. I stopped and got me a salad from Zaxby's for dinner. There's enough l/o's for him but I don't want that. I love their Zensational salads. It has an egg roll with it. Can't hardly wait till dinner. I guess Matthew went to school today. He has a cold. Even last year when Wendy homeschooled them he still got sick often. Talking about green apples, do you like the granny smith ones? My father use to have some apple trees and one kind was a harvest apple as we called it. They always came in July and were yellow. Sort of like the ginger golds. I never ate the green ones off the tree much. I'm going to go move a few potted plants in. Hope they miss the forecast of the freezing temps. Have a wonderful afternoon. |

Hey, lynnw - It has been chilly here today as well. I brought my flowering plant that my neighbor gave me inside just in case we had a freeze. I may end up turning on the heat since I've got little Sassi to consider. She is only 5-1/2 or 6 weeks old, and I don't want her to get too cold. I've fixed a box with a towel in the bottom and a small cat bed. Will put a old blanket the g'kids used on top of the box to try to keep her warm. Don't know if she'll stay in the box, though. She was out in 6 seconds flat a little while ago, little stinker. Can't believe the prices of those peonies. I wouldn't (and couldn't) pay that price for them either. If we get a frost, I hope nothing will be damaged either. I told my neighbors this would happen, but no one believed me. Oh, well. Hope Matthew wasn't too miserable at school today. Colds can make you feel so bad. Hopefully, it will go away soon. Yes, I love Granny Smith apples. I'm the queen when it comes to eating sour apples and salt. Love them as a child and love them now. I also love the Honey Crisp apples, though they are very expensive. I only get a couple when they are quite large, and the kids and I share one. They are kind of sweet and sour, too. Bet a pie would be could if you cut up a couple of Granny Smiths with them. May have to try that one day soon. You should have seen Sami when I took Sassi outside so my neighbor could see her. Left the front door open and Sami stayed on the porch close to the door. When I handed Sassi to my neighbor, Sami actually growled VERY LOUD a few times, showing he displeasure at someone else holding Sassi. She hissed a couple of times, too. She was okay when the neighbor handed Sassi back to me. So, looks like Sami and Sassi are going to be great friends. Whenever Sassi stars meowing or crying, Sami comes running to her to make sure she is okay. Looks like my Sami girl has some mothering instincts after all, which makes me quite happy. Right now, Sassi is on my lap, where she prefers to be, and Sami is in the bedroom. I'll put the box I fixed for Sassi on the floor beside my bed, and hope she won't meow and cry all night. Well, time to get the dinner dishes taken care of. Hope you, Hubby and Cracker will all have a very nice night. Take care. |

Quote HOT PINK: Quote lynnw: Good afternoon Hot Pink...a world of difference from last week to today. It's very chilly and the wind is pretty strong. They say there may be a freeze tonight. Hi Hot Pink...it sounds like Sami and Sassi are going to get along real well. I had to laugh about Sami growling at your neighbor holding the kitten. Maybe she feels like it's her's since she's so little. Anyway, I'm glad that things are working out so well between them. She is one cute little kitten. I know the grandkids will have her spoiled rotten, holding her when they're there. Let me know how she slept last night. The new woman is going to be out tomorrow and I held my breath all day that I'd be asked about comming in early but the manager didn't mention it. 7:00 is so early. Even though I'm up, I just like to take my time in the mornings. We went to the greenhouse this afternoon and got a replacement for an azalea that had died and a rose bush to replace one. It's called ketsup and mustard, red with a yellow center. Quite unique. It didn't get as cold as we thought last night. We had my roses and my orange blossom bush covered up with sheets and a tarpe. It looked funny going down the road. I see my brother in law did the same as well as my nephew. I still have my potted plants under cover in case it gets cold tonite. My husband isn't feeling too well, says he may have what Matthew has. I stopped and got him some hot and sour soup for tonight. He always wants that when he's sick. When I was small, I always wanted canned tomatoes and or frozen cherries. Crazy comfort foods. Cracker is out at the fence birding. I'll let her stay out here for another hour or so. She was eating some grass so I don't care if she does stay out for a bit. Have a good evening and give the pets a pat on the head for me. |
