AMEN I don't believe I could have said it better myself. I believe it is unnatural for people to possess so much judgement. I don't see anyone with threads that state: Sing in if you don't want blacks, asians, or muslims S/L on the show, and why don't we see that because society no longer tolerates it but these people don't realize that they way we now look back and think that our nation was crazy for the slavery we forced others into is cruel and we were crazy for thinking separate but equal will work.... is the was way in the future we will view people of today that feel it is okay to put their judgement on public display and I'm livid that the board would allow this thread to stay open. |

Quote bukopandan: groan. i just read a news story about two black church members, hetero, who could not be married there because they're black. no black couple has ever been married there since the church opened its doors in the 1800's and there sure as heck ain't gonna be a first couple, no sirree. sounds like the white townsfolk think they're pretty damn generous already even letting blacks in....oh yeah, they HAVE to because it's now law. yeah, such a shame about civil rights, huh?  mississippi, not a surprise, though not all places where racism rears its ugly head are in the deep south. so, yeah, the white members of the church put on the pressure and the minister abided (i'm sure he has his reasons). at least he still married the couple in another church. this is so disgusting. here we are, decades since the civil rights era and with an african-american president, and we're still dealing with ugly racists in this country. and the inability to accept so many people for who they are. it's an embarrassment. in stark contrast to the unity of the olympics that have brought together people from all over the world, today there's this story once more shedding light on the low-level thinking and bigotry that exists in the good ole usa. Everyone has the right to decide who or what they want to be. Can you imagine someone else telling you which foot to put out in front of the other. Or, Which way to wear your pants, zipper in the front or the back or which side it belongs on, lol Or, How to hold your glass to drink you liquids. |

Please don't turn this into a race or sexuality thing because it's two different thing. The point that the OP and others are trying to point out, is that the s/l has been done and it didn't work. They tried it with Rafe and it died, just as fast as they started it. They couldn't find anyone to pairof him with, so he's on reaccuring status. Also alot people watching local tv, this isn't cable, are still struggling watching a man and a man or a woman or a woman having a sex scene. It's not the same as watching a man and a woman sex scene. B&B is trying s/l, and not really making big with the s/l because we bearly see the couple. Other soaps has tried it and it this also failed. We can bearly get over the s/l we have now, why start this one. The fact that you say watching a man and woman sex scene is DIFFERENT than watching a woman/woman man/man scene is EXACTLY the issues. They are NOT DIFEERENT in any way. Love is love just like skin is skin...race and sexuality are very much alike we are born the way we are and nothing can change it. I wish people would open their eyes and hearts for once. |

My neice, watches a Canadian teen drama called Degrassi. It's about teenagers who go to high school dealing with relationships, hate, bigotry, homosexuality, etc. I think it's a great show. And most recently, the show dove into the subject of homosexuality. One of the characters wanted to put on the school play "Romeo and Juliet". Instead of having the classic Romeo/Juliet romance between a man and a woman, he decided to have two "Romeos" instead. One of the directors on the school play, is very religious, and believes that being gay is "unnatural". The other director did NOT care, and believed that love exists with the same sex. The religious director quit the show due to her beliefs of it being unnatural. There are also a group of athletes, who are incredibly homophobic, who tease, and spread hate over the play. It's a story of all sides, and standing up for what you believe in, and not allowing people to put you down for something they do not understand. Long story short! THIS is a good example of a gay storyline. There is a mixture of all sides. If Y&R could write a story that is relevant to what being gay is, to ALL groups it would be great and relatable to the public. I think when people think "gay storyline" they automatically think of the same sex having graphic sex scenes. That doesn't have to be the case. This storyline on Degrassi, is for Teens. If the writers are not afraid to go there, why should Y&R? well put! back in the late '80's i used to watch the old degrassi jr. high on public television in ohio. my boyfriend and i were in college but loved that show - it was so well done. |

WOW! What a back-handed way to bash the gay community. Sometimes opinions should be kept to oneself. We have gay posters on this board and we have posters with family/friends who are gay. I don't think you just endured yourself to any of them or to many other posters. It must be "natural" for some to judge others. |

Trixie60, I agree with you. There is so much other stuff they could come up with. This kind of story failed on ATWT&GL. It is not going to well on Y&R for a second time. |
