Thanks, countryMomof4! It is gratifying to know there are people who see the line between right and wrong and don't derive pleasure out of seeing evil triumph over good..whether fantasy or reality. What a world we would live in if evil won out over right and justice. I don't find that the least bit 'entertaining.' Just consider how different life would be if child molestors, serial killers, rapists, psychotics, perverts held power or sway! A world where Sandusky got away with raping dozens and dozens of innocent boys... it is hardly entertaining to consider criminals getting a free pass because they have a charming side.

Of for God's sake. Do you honestly believe that just because someone doesn't care if a fictional character goes without punishment on a fictional show that they would feel the same way in real life. NO wonder there's so much bickering and fighting hope you don't drown the next time it rains.

What I honestly believe is that while most posters are decent and fun to post with, some posters here who pretend not to take the soap seriously are some of the most malicious people I've ever encountered who personally go after others and try to hurt them personally just because they disagree with who they like fictionally on a soap board. And I definitely believe that speaks volumes about the mindset about these issues on a so-called fantasy soap.

It sounds like you are describing yourself in this thread to a T, LOL! And you say, "so called fantasy soap"...it IS a fantasy, that is exactly what FICTION is! You are the one judging people because they don't take this as seriously as you do...

You're entitled to keep the 'personal' going. And you are entitled to see it as you wish. I would prefer to keep things to the show, its characters, and storyline. I'd say everyone posting on this board is pretty much 'invested' and takes the show etc. seriously as evident by how much bickering goes on. But I don't think it matters. We don't know each other on a personal level so whatever any of us think about anyone else and the posts here, it isn't terribly important. I am loving the show right now.

Let's get something straight, I DID NOT make this personal. You made it personal by talking down to every single poster who doesn't agree with you and positng with a snotty superior attitude. The difference between having fun on a message board and taking it WAY to seriously is judging fellow posters based on who they enjoy watching. You take it very seriously and think you have everyone figured out and I guarantee you are wrong on almost all accounts!

From what I have been reading, I agree with everything you are saying.

Many many many fans are not that concerned with the moral outcome, but rather are watching for entertainment value on this fantasy soap.

One person's 'entertainment' is another person's boredom. And one person's 'boredom' is another's 'entertainment.' As I said, many many fans are eagerly awaiting the 'entertainment' of seeing Phyllis take responsibility for her crime committed so long ago, which she has gotten away with for far too long. This is going to be the first storyline in a long time that lots are looking forward to.

I will enjoy the show because I realize this is FICTION and I don't get all uppity when someone doesn't spend the rest of their life in jail on a fictional, fantasy soap opera

While you may not have "started it", you are hell bent on finishing it and reeming this poster for a misunderstanding. You have kept it going and going and going and going, making sure to get in the last dig, the last word and the last pound of flesh. And your comments about knowing it's "fantasy" are uppity IMO. Elanc has taken the heat of the Phyllis fans and has showed class by refraining from engaging in chilish banter.

How is it that so many cold case files are reopened and solved after twenty years or more and those criminals prosecuted? I'll toot my own horn a little here. But I called this way back at the beginning of the hint that this H&R spoiler. I always said that Phyl would get no lasting punishment. And I believe my other theory of Nick not being "gone" for long will come true too!

I agree with you. I think that the reason that the payoff isn't going to be much is because it wasn't meant to be. This storyline is not the cross and crucifiction that the salivators were so hoping for. I can't imagine that they actually thought that is what this would be about. It is a 20 year old rerun and very poorly written as well. Alot of life happens in 20 years and for those of who aren't frozen in time, we have watched Phyllis through the years and we have watched her growth and progression. How she has been there for her son, so many times, it is hard to keep count. How she has been there in her marriage to Nick and her marriage to Jack. Many of us, so many of us have come to love and respect this character because we have watched her for so many years. This storyline is about a Phyllis from 20 years ago and it has nothing to do with this Phyllis today or the Phyllis that Mr. Bell redeemed this character to become. That is what makes this whole storyline such a huge bust and a horrible backfire. Even sadder for the writers, they tried to rewrite the story and they have failed miserably at that. We watched Phyllis destroy her reciepts back 20 years ago and Dr. Tim knew othing of this incident. In fact, no one but Phyllis ever knew anything about any of it. This storyline was so dead and buried that the writers actually had to rewrite it to drag this out of the moth balls to bring it back. This is antique history. Not even worth this garbage. A few days of hoopla and poof! It will gone just like it came. If they try and drag it out any further than that, it will be to thier detriment, heck, it already is. People all over the place starting tuning out of this a couple of weeks ago and won't be coming back until its done. It is a big turn off to most fans because it is nothing new. It is so old and so antiquated that it actually doesn't make sense to the show, even though they tried to trot out the other antiquest with it. Dr. Tim, Danny and the idiot snoot? Big waste of time. I did read that even Brad Bell has been upset with MAB and the way out stuff she is bringing to Y&R, so much, that they are actually discussing taking her out as head writer. This may be one of the reasons why.

This puts a different perspective on the matter. I do hope they take MAB out, that would be the best news ever for this show!

Quote Its not real: I don't really care if Nick leaves Red or stays, IMO he's an idiot who probably can't discern the difference between getting a parking ticket and trying to kill someone with your car, and just not worth worrying about.
I am really interested in how some of the other characters react.

Will Ronan let their past sexual encounters bias him in Phyllis favour when this all comes out or will he look at her like "eww, can't believe I bedded that"?

And Avery, will she be repulsed or will she feel that blood is thicker than water and that she has to try to defend Phyllis? Will she see the irony in the sister who tore their family apart because, she couldn't stand to see the little people hurt, a few years later attempting to kill someone because she got in her way?

What will Billy do, about this attempted murderer in his employ, especially as he is faced with the offer off this TV deal for RS?

And Lauren, who just the other day, asked Phyllis how someone could plan to take someone else's life, in a voice of disgust , how will she take the news that Phyllis did just that?

SHould be an interesting couple of shows.

You bring up some good points I didn't think of. I am interested to see Lauren's reaction knowing how much she adores Paul. And in recent years Paul has helped Phyllis, he should be wanting some vengence.

I agree. I have seen Elanc take the heat on this board and the former CBS board and I can't remember seeing her react in a nasty way like some do. They way I've seen it is some people do get very personal and mean spirited. If it is about their personal favorite it all of a sudden becomes this "fictional" soap but if it is a character they can't stand then all guns are a blazing. You have to take it for what it's worth and Elanc is one poster who does that gracefully.

Well, I just read through the last several pages of posts and what comes across to me is that someone might get the idea, from some of your posts, that you think you are somehow superior to other posters because you understand the show as fiction only while other posters are stupid to take it too seriously. And maybe some of your posts come across as a bit uppity in the way they seem to try to lecture other posters on their behaviour.

Elanc has taken the heat of the Phyllis fans and has showed class by refraining from engaging in chilish banter.

I make it a point not to respond to you but because you are directly responding to me I will make an exception. I have read all 28 pages of this thread and have seen the many comments made by this poster that are very condescending and judgmental of people who don't agree with her perception of what is going on. There is no "misunderstanding", she feels that people who don't care if Phyllis goes to jail are lacking morals and I think that is rude and ridiculous! Because your perception is so skewed against Phyllis and her fans you are unable to see that the way she is talking about fellow fans and posters is out of line and that her attitude is incredibly superior to those who don't expect this show to mirror real life.

Me stating that this show is a fantasy isn't uppity at all, espically after she essentially quoted me by saying, "a so called fantasy soap opera". Yes I will respond to that because it is one more expampe of the snotty, superior, condescending attitude that has riddled this thread. If I, as a Phyllis fan, am going to be bashed for liking that character and not expecting the show to mirror real life than I am going to remind that person that the show isn't supposed to mirror real life because it is a fantasy! I'm not going to be judged and looked down upon because someone can tell the difference between real life and a soap opera!

As far as "having the last word" goes...of course I'm going to respond back to someone when they respond to me. Case in point, me responding to you when, as I stated above, I ignore you 100% of the time.

If you think that the OP has handled herself with "class" throughout this thread there is nothing I can say that will change your mind, but I wholeheartedly disagree with that. Phyllis fans have a right to defend themselves when someone comes at them and tells them they aren't moral people because they don't care that Phyllis won't go to jail, and that is exactly what is happening here.

Sorry, I'm not going to be put down for liking a character or not caring if Phyllis goes up the river or not because some people want this soap to be more realistic. The fact that you are chastising me for reminding peopls that this is fiction and your screenname is "it's not real" is pretty funny, don't you think??

As you wish and as you see it! Enjoy the show!

Well continue being rude if you must....by posting that you "ignore me 100% of the time". YOU are taking her posts far too seriously...she replies w/ let's agree to disagree and you keep right on and on and on and on making this far more personal that it should have been. And she hasn't made the nasty snide comments you have, nor does she appear upset and bitter.

Returning to the subject of this thread, lol, for me the important thing is that Phyllis takes responsibility for her crime and get past it ultimately. It is the desire for her to face herself honestly that motivates my point of view and my underlying hope that Nick will break free of his naivete about her.
