Y&R did NOT fare well at the Emmys

My husband has called me a traitor, LOL! He watched Y&R growing up with his nanny. He loves Victor and often impersonates him. At the same time all the suspense of the DID s/l we can LOL at Luke and Tracey. If that isin't enough the younger generation has come along and are holding their own good s/l If that dosen't hold your interest they have managed to integrate some very good characters from OLTL into the show without missing a beat. Brilliant! |

Its all so maddening isnt it? I just wish Y&R would go on netflix but then again, Netflix is kind of inferior too. I hear that some company out there[so not know which one] offers something called a hopper or chopper? I dunno-But I am sure it is not dirty old comcast/xflinkity  ...Apparently this device eliminates the commercials. I just feel that these networks are too darned greedy and maybe down the line it will be their undoing? I love Y&R but all that subliminal advertising AKA Direct to consumer advertising [DTCA] is not good. The FDA/FCC could stop it if they wanted to, But they choose not to..The law went out of effect in 1997-98 that limited all of this garbage advertising from being flung at the consumer every two minutes. I just feel that tv was meant to be for entertainment not to be used as a tool to screw with peoples heads like they do now. JMO

I mean, c'mon, the romantic pairings is why people watch, as you say, for a great love affair, to be entertained, to be glued to the tv. Shictor, and certainly Phick, do NOT make people want to watch. Lane are hardly ever on. Chloe and Kevin...really? She was with Chance then Ronan then jumped to Kevin!!! If you want to write the story, then ask for the job. These are all stories like you would read in a book. However, those stories that we read in a book, those written well, are much more detailed and better researched.  The idea of a really good, award winning writer, is the creativity behind the story and the plot that drives it. As for couples? How did I know that I would like Chelsea with Adam? I sure didn't, but look at me, I love this couple! Who knew? If you like the story you read it and if you don't like the story, you don't buy the book. Same with soaps. This one is just lacking in really good stories. I love Phick but I will be the first to say that MAB really can't write for them like Latham could. I am hoping that it gets better and I am hoping that MAB will recruit new writers. In vein, I assure you, but I do hope. I happen to like Chloe and Kevin but I don't like the way they are not written well. Any unlikely couple can give out fireworks with the proper writing. Look at Phick. Who would have thought that they would rock this show the way they have? They are smokin hot and have developed the most supportive fan base ever. They have a huge fan base now. That is why they are back together. In a very strange way, I like the Shicktor pairing as well. I think that this did end up where it has been going for years. Getting out of the system, so to speak, is worth the story. They have always been very seductive and it eventually had to play out that way as long as Sharon wasn't with Adam or Nick. The question after this is what to do with Sharon now? I also like Billy and Vikki but again, the writing hasn't been there for them in a long while. It is all about the creativity of the writers and last night we all saw it for ourselves. No one is impressed with the writing on either show the Bell's have.

IMO, there is too much emphasis on sex. Switching sex partners is sleazy and trashy, lacking any kind of ingenuity or imagination. |

It had romance and great storylines that kept us interested. Couples were solid and the chemistry was always there. The show was romantic all the way from the romance to the corporate wars. Those Collinade Room scenes. Those fantastic corporate wars, the intrigue. This show used to have action stories as well. There was always a lighter side that kept us laughing too. The show has lost that kind of balance. We really aren't given time to see a storyline build anymore. The payoff's are nothing and the climax just fizzles out. The timing, the storylines, the creativity and so much more are just all off now. It is all animal sex and not substance. Dropped storylines and enless murder mysteries that basically drag out into adnauseum. The show has lost its soul. If I had to point to the one most important thing that this show lacks it is substance and soul. |

Dropped storylines galore!!ITA with that!!They don't want to even try to write some romance!!If they did,we'd be seeing Danny and Christine all the time,not every two years or when they get the notion to show them!!And Sharon would be with Sam in NM or GC,just glowing away the way she should be!!Not with that mean,crusty Victor at all anymore!! |
