I dont think they will change Summer paternity Nick and Phyllis wouldn;t have a bond if they did,

we didn't see the results and nick alone did, as far as i know. phyl got jack to go to get tested because nick had the results and for whatever reason would not share them with phyl. jack called that cruel of nick. but while they were waiting for jack to get tested jack discussed the whole matter of who would be with whom depending on the paternity results and it was obvious to jack that she would leave jack in a heartbeat (she could not hide her smile at the thought of nick even though she was jack's wife) and so he walked away and didn't get tested. during that talk phyl had told jack that nick would stay with sharon even if he were the father. it was clear to jack that she wanted nick and wanted the baby to be his, no ifsandorbuts, so jack stormed off. nick went and told sharon that the test results said he was summer's father. she did not see the results and as far as i know, no one else ever did.

when nick was talking to sharon he told her he was staying with her. but the thing is, he told her that phyl had already told him that he would not be a part of the child's life if it was his and it was for the best - basically, phyl was pretending that she believed this to be the right thing, but it was a head game. she wanted nick and it placed pressure on him, it was obvious. If the baby really were his, phyl was telling him he could not be a part of the child’s life.

but, of course, the results were and have remained a mystery. why, if nick was not really the father, would he want to be? nick had majorly screwed up when it came to the whole cassie situation. nick was incredibly immature and selfish and grieved as he needed to but left sharon to deal with everything else on her own. as we well know. nick was wanting a new life to fill the void made sense.

although nick comes across as always wanting to be with whichever woman is currently carrying his unplanned child, it’s not always the case that this is who he chooses to be with. there is something else that factors in. nick has often had two baby issues going on at the same time or that have played off one another. he always makes a choice that is on the side of who he sees as most vulnerable. even if a child is younger or is his legitimate child, if the older/illegitimate child is sick then that trumps the younger age and legitimacy. he chose summer over faith (sharon pushed for that but we could see it was what he wanted) because of the ridiculous peanut allergy story. sick summer came first with him. years earlier, he stayed with sharon when he found out - or decided because it was what he wanted to believe - that summer was his but he only stayed because cassie was dead, not because of noah (additionally, phyl was playing her head game and telling him he had no choice, so what else could he do but stay with sharon). cassie being dead in this case trumped a live child. if there had never been a cassie, then he would have left sharon and noah to be with phyl and summer. but at that time he deemed sharon's situation to be the more vulnerable and cassie was gone. now that phyl has miscarried he sees her as the vulnerable one. if sharon found out tomorrow that she was pregnant by nick, one would expect him to chose sharon, but he would stay with phyl because right now she is vulnerable. in order for nick to once again change his mind, sharon would have to lose a fetus and the fetus should probably be more developed than it was for phyl. sad to say, but this is how nick tends to operate.
