    Quote Jeaniebean507: SOD's Y&R Best & Worst

Best Story: Jack is Summer's father

    Saddest Twist: Delia's death.

Worst Secret: Dylan is Nikki's son.

    Worst Exit: Phyllis.

    Worst Wedding: Paul & Christine.

Best Marital Conflict: Michael & Lauren

Best Triangles: Adam/Chelsea/Dylan tied with Brooke/Bill/Katie

    Most Ruined Character: Sharon

Best Special Episodes: Jeanne Cooper Tribute

Most Boring Story: Neil & The Blogger

    Most Disappointing Show: Y&R

What do you think? Agree? Disagree?

I do not feel disappointed with the show at all. Sometimes, I'm not liking the story, or where it's going, but for the most part I enjoy watching. I don't agree with Best triangle, because I don't feel it was a triangle at all. I do agree with most boring story; Neil/Blogger only because it really fizzled at the end; no real drama.

Chylan was the most boring story. Definitely not part of the best triangle. The blogger was the most senseless one. I still haven't figured out the point of Gus and Rose. Thankfully I need no longer to bother with it.

Nor do I think Sharon was ruined. She has the bipolar card to escape from soap hell. Any character on propping duty for Dylan seems to get ruined. Thankfully its fluid. Chelsea had her moments on the trash heap of ruined characters this summer.

Thanks for posting this. I am off another day for inclement weather, so it gives me another day of chiming in some during the day.

    Best Story: Connor's eye problems

I think Connor health problems overall, but in particular the eyesight situation were powerful stories. With Adam finding out because of the RP suspicion, but finding out that Connor has scarring of the corneas, I thought was in interesting twist. I thought all of the Chadam scenes with the eye specialist and at the hospital were well done. The scenes from then finding out about the cornea scarring, needing a cornea transplant, the sun, moon, and stars speech, the hospital scenes in the chapel, Chelsea with Chloe, Chadam with Chilly, Chadam waiting during surgery, Chadam getting the good news and taking Connor home, I thought all of these were strong scenes.

I would put Delia's accident up there as well due to the powerful stories and performances coming out of that, although I am not a fan of writing off as many legacy characters that have been written off in recent years.

I would also put Chelsea's paternity reveal up there with the powerful and interesting performances by Adam, Chelsea, Dylan, and Avery and what the reveal had lead into regarding other stories.

I think the Summer paternity story had potential and was okay, but some beats from the story were missing IMO, having Sharon change the results seems too twisted, and Phyllis leaving the show took some of the bite out of the story.

To be honest, I think the show has gotten a lot better since JG left as head writer. I thought the show started off with a bang with Jack and Adam taking NE and Jack's drug habit, and Chelsea getting pregnant. But then it hit a brick wall. I thought most of the summer storylines were an epic fall. Chylan nearly ruined Chelsea and turned Dylan into a moron. Not only did the blogger story fizzle out but so did the Melanie rape story which I thought would have ended differently. The Summer paternity could have been much more dramatic. The show had its good points but it was outweighed by too many low points. But since Chelsea's paternity reveal, I think the show has been much better. I remember MM saying that everything that was happening over the spring and summer was to set up what was going to happen in the fall which he promised would be sublime. I'd have to say I agree with him.

Since my answer was getting long on the best story, I thought I would use separate post/s for others. I only watch Y&R, so I can only answer from that perspective. Of course, my Chadam bias will be showing too.

I agree with the saddest twist being Delia's death, the marital conflict being Michael and Lauren, the tribute episode being the Jeannie Cooper one, and the worst secret being the Nikki/Dylan one. I am not sure on the most boring story, as there are a few floating through my head. I wasn't that enthused with the blogger story, Carmine and Lauren, and Navery much of the time. I do think the Chelsea paternity lie story could have been written much better during the pregnancy months regarding action and suspense with some different approaches taken. Chloe and Chelsea's repetitive dialogue along with the dialogue towards Dylan, I thought was overdone by the writers and past the point of getting the plot across. Regarding the worst exit, I thought Phyllis's exit story was okay, but not the best.

I will say that Sharon has taken a beating over the Summer paternity, but I think about any character is redeemable. Chelsea took a beating during her paternity lie story as well. Adam is taking a beating during the Delia story. Even though not enough attention is being given to this, I thought the character of Chloe regressed during 2013. Even Dylan took a hit for looking dumb during the paternity lie story.

A part of me is glad that Chadam was included as part of the best triangle, but I disagree that the Adam/Chelsea/Dylan triangle was the best triangle. I thought it was one of the worst. Adam was kept too distant from the paternity story without having that many scenes with Chelsea. Dylan did not come across as being in love to Chelsea in my eyes. There was potential for a triangle and the week of May 20-24 had some of better scenes in this regard. Of course, Chelsea telling the lie in the April 22 episode was a strong episode of scenes. In the end, it really was not a triangle and wasn't really written as such, IMO. The performers and characters could have made for a strong triangle, but in the end I am glad that it was not written that way and that the writers have moved on. The scenes involving the truth being exposed and the aftermath of that were well done. I guess I am a little surprised that SOD would put the Chadam/Chylan one ahead of some like Steffy/Liam/Hope and Liam/Hope/Wyatt.

For Y&R, I would probably say the Nick/Avery/Dylan triangle, Cane/Lily/Tyler triangle, and Sharon/Nick/and Avery triangles were some of the better ones. The Nick/Avery/Dylan triangle from early in the year was probably more of a true triangle, so I might give the edge there.

I liked the Paul and Christine wedding. I thought the worst wedding was the Chylan wedding. I believe one group has the Chylan wedding as the worst one. A spur of the moment rushed wedding at a warehouse with the vows that they exchanged just doesn't fit much in the way of romantic wedding.

I could not comment on the most disappoint show as I do not watch the other ones. I think the best months of Y&R have been September-Present, as I like how Chadam are having a lot of scenes together and that Dylan is over in the Davery and Shick orbit with those characters having more scenes together.

On a side note, I am glad that the writers explored a Victor/Adam relationship and I did think that both had strong scenes during those months from Adam being shot up to Victor finding out about Adam's assistance from Jack and the fallout from that.

As usual, you and I agree. Since the paternity reveal, the show has been on fire especially for our favorite characters. I see lots of potential as well as we watch this story continue to play out. Some have been screaming for the hit and run story to end but I see so many possible twists and turns that I am looking forward to watching it unfold. Plus Chadam is going to be the driving force behind this story. Anytime they are front and center, you know it will be good.

Good points. I agree with much of the post. I think late spring and the summer were the down months from my point of view. I think the stronger months have been September-Present. There were some things that I enjoyed from the early months of the year as well. You make a strong point on how the year started.

I read one poster's thoughts that Adam could be the one to find out who the real hit and driver is and that Adam's alleged involvement would be found out by Victor and used by him to torment Adam or out him as the one who hit Delia. Chelsea made the comment about Victor getting into between them this past Thursday. I hope Adam outmaneuvers any blackmail attempts by Victor, should Victor try to force Adam's hand.

I thought it was an interesting thought about Adam finding the real hit and run driver.

On another note and based on some posts I have read, the whole thing with Nikki and Dylan finding out over the phone about the DNA results especially someone like Dylan who wanted confirmed truth seemed odd. Plus, as one has pointed out the hospital had no way of confirming who was on the other line when calling Dylan and Nikki. I know those scenes were for the benefit of Paul, Victor, Avery, and Nick hearing the news, but it was an unrealistic way of releasing DNA results.
