All the merits of a good company & an income stripped from him. He lost his mother to Pancreatic Cancer. He was raised his entire childhood mourning Cliff's death, the man he had been lied to about and was convinced was his father. Adam's only friend in GC, Skye, turned on him, blackmailed him, and was murdered by his father's machinations. At the time, Sharon, was accused & jailed for that murder. He lost his friend & his girlfriend all at once. His friend, Diane, backstabbed him. Then she was murdered. He witnessed the horrific car accident of his girlfriend and had to identify her charred remains. He was shut out of his own girlfriend's funeral, arrested for entering the church. He found out, after months of celibacy & mourning her death, that his girlfriend was alive & well, that she had been living with & sleeping with some other man on a farm. He was stabbed in the back by Jack and had to serve time for a diary that they both forged. Jack served no time. Adam has no home, he's been living out of a hotel room for 3 years. He was lured out to a cabin by Sharon, who baited him, and he was hit over the head with a shovel. He was hog-tied to a chair and was choked & tortured by the kangaroo court. He has been nationally exposed on the cover of Restless Style, not once, but twice, proclaiming him the world's worst human being. Satan. His own father has tried to frame him for murder. He has celebrated almost every single birthday & holiday (of his entire adult life) alone. He has had a majority of the GC citizens openly threaten him & suggest they should murder him. He has been sold-out, backstabbed, framed, manipulated, disowned, imprisoned, shot, beaten, tortured, arrested, humiliated, and ostracized. I guess Adam has gotten away with everything, and has never paid, never been given a dose of his own medicine. (the baby that never existed because Ashley had a hysterectomy years earlier, or so I have been told, and was suffering a "hysterical pregnancy" the entire time) Adam saving Noah's life from the burning fire, Eden's life, carrying the dog (Fisher) out of the burning house (that Daisy set ablaze to kill Noah and his girlfriend)...Adam saving baby Faith's life by throwing himself on top of her when the barn roof collapsed...Adam saving the horses and the barn at his mother's house in Kansas...Adam saving Chelsea's life, and her son's life (Billy's biological baby...and Victoria's newborn adopted son)...well those are just things the viewer is going to have to accept as things that Adam has done. Like it or not, you cannot dismiss any heroic deed of Adam's and only embrace the awful things he has done. OMGosh, I often wonder how in the name of logic was Ashley preggers. I knew I had heard something about her having a hysterectomy.. hmm is this dumb writing as usual? Did she have a hysterectomy? Well, for everyone who forgot, Ashley had a hysterectomy following the accident in which she lost a full-term baby, Robert, the child she was carrying with Brad. This wasn't even that long ago (back in the mid-90s IIRC). After that accident, she walked around with a blanket and cooed at it like it was the baby she'd lost, and she wound up in a psych hospital because of it. I've never understood why MAB decided go with a s/l in which Ash would have gotten pregnant, but when it happened, I kept waiting for it to be explained away as her being in the throes of an hysterical pregnancy, with Victor, Olivia and her "doctor" just going along with it to keep from unmooring her further. The writers really missed an opportunity with the s/l by not closing that circle. IMO, they left things deliberately vague then because they were going for the full shock effect that her miscarrying would have on Adam's character. I think they (the writers) intended for the Adam character to be written off (and I believe MM didn't expect that he'd be anything more than just a short-term player), thus the cavalier way that they wrote for the character then, because they viewed him as temporary and they wanted the full schlock effect of pure evil. I believe MAB may have pitched the role to him at a time when they hadn't decided on whether Ash was actually pregnant or it was a mental fantasy, which may explain his statement to that effect. They really did (and might still) have an opportunity to retcon this situation, and if they can, they should because it's the most significant obstacle to the most obstinate viewers who hate Adam because of Ash's baby. The one thing I do recall about that period, though, was the fact that another soap had just done a similar s/l and HS is noted for derivative storylines copped from other soaps. |

He is NOT the "first" outstanding soap star by a long shot. Hope I didn't offend anyone.. not intended.. just giving my opinion... and please do not jump down my throat if you disagree.. We alllll have opinions in here... But the OP, took an article from a magazine and Posted it.. that means we can give an opinion on it.. I've been watching for over 20 years and I happen to love MM and Adam. And I also think that it's fantastic that he gets so involved with the fans and cares about the character he plays. It shows his passion for his job. But that's just my opinion.  The problem is that when he jumps into a thread where there is a debate going on about Adam he inevitably shuts it down. IT comes off as if he believes anyone who doesn't immediately buy into the new Adam is a hater and insinuates they are not seeing things correctly. It is natural that he is biased towards his character, but people perceive things differently. And most were not hating on Adam in that thread that was shut down soon after he started posting. The OP felt that they were trying to say that Adam saving Chelsea's baby would make up for Ashley's baby but they the discussion moved to whether the writers were trying to fasttrack Adam's redemption by making him "Super" Adam by saving Faith, Noah, Eden, the family dog, the horses, his mom's barn, and now Chelsea and her baby. It would be more believable to see a slower redemption like they have been doing for the last month or so where we see Adam changing and making better decisions instead of putting on the superAdam persona. The writers wrote Adam into this hole and don't want to take the time to get him out of it so create these incredible acts where Adam risks his life to save others and it is getting a bit eye rolling. MM also has a huge fan base and he knows he can sway opinion. He is not a regular poster, so it is nearly impossible to debate or discuss a controversial issue because he is playing the actor and so will carry more weight with fans. Look at this thread. Some act like Adam and MM were being attacked on that thread and that is far from the truth. That may happen on twitter, but it wasn't happening in that thread. It was just a regular discussion about what happened on the show and now it has been blown up bigger that it actually was. There is nothing wrong with interacting with fans, but I don't know why he keeps jumping into threads to defend Adam. I have been on the boards for years and no other actor has done this. The posters that hate Adam are often accused and bashed by Adam supporters of confusing the character of Adam as a real life person and not a fictional charcater...well looks like MM has done the same thing. Why is he doing this? Insecure maybe???? and to re-write the hitory of Adam is just wrong. If he was trying to "win over" new fans, it had the exact opposite effect on me...I'm enjoying the character Adam with the Chelsea storyline recently... but the MM spin on his character?? ...not so much.... It backfired for me and after this stunt by MM I hate Adam even more. Re-writing the history of this show is inexcusable. |

I think MM has said enough times as everyone is well aware that it takes both lovers and haters of a character to make a great actor/actress. So no I do not believe he was trying to win over anyone who doesnt want to be won over. He was just as the interview said Sharing Insights into his Character to the ones who are interested and it they are not interested than they do not have to read it. |

What is happening on the screen now is to get the hypocrites of GC to like Adam if it gains more fans for Adam so be it if not so be it. That really wasnt what this story line was written for. ICAM nice post. MM gives his performance, you either like it or you don't. Working on Veronica Mars, his character wasn't one the fav (He was my favorite though), so I pretty sure MM is okay with ppl not liking his character or for that matter himself. Although not sure how to dislike someone you don't really know, but some seem to manage. Plus posters spin for their favorites or their agenda all the time w/o complaining, however it's unthinkable when the actor of character does it. I enjoy MM responses and will continue to do so. |
