Quote feronie: Phyllis has a definite stuttering problem; however, she is not alone with this issue. Now others are following her lead. Speech therapy will help, so lets pool our money and get some help for these stutterers.

MS has some speech patterns that I find seriously annoying...but I don't think she stutters.

For example, I cannot stand the way she drops the final consonant off of works..."thinking" because THINKEEN, "speaking" becomes SPEAKEEN, etc and then there is the aggravating way she repeats her sentences as she she is delivering them.

But no stuttering that I notice.

It's one thing to discuss how the writers have Phyllis repeat some lines, but to post your annoyance at how MS pronounces certain words is uncalled for. Would you like for other posters to mention certain annoying traits about your personal favorite character?

I don't see what I said as "uncalled for" at all.

My personal favorites are Adam and Sharon. I have seen much, much worse things said about the actors and characters than their enunciation of words.

I am sure they couldn't care less. And frankly I feel the same way...who cares?

It's a bash on the actress, but you don't see it that way, fine.

Apparently this board cares since actor/actress bashing is against the rules.

It's no more a "bash on the actress" than some of the many nasty things that are said about Michael Muhney and Sharon Case...and that are allowed to go unchallenged.

Saying that you find someone's enunciation of words is more offensive than saying an actor is an egomaniacal glory hound, unprofessional and plays favorites with his/her fanbases and should be fired is NOT bashing them?(all of those things have been posted here about MM and SC, btw)

Or is it okay as long as they are not YOUR personal favorites??

    What comedy.

So what you're saying is, it's okay for MS to be bashed for her speech patterns because SC gets bashed as well?

No... in fact what I am saying is that pointing out a character's annoying pronounciation of words is not "bashing" in my book.

Calling them an unprofessional egomaniac who should find work elsewhere IS.

    Hope that helps.

Yep, cleared it up quite well. I guess we'll just have to disagree on what constitutes bashing.

I'm probably in the minority here as well, but I don't find this bashing the actress either.

How an actress' or actor's physical appearance or other attributes are, be it fat or skinny, or big butt or big nose, or big ear or big hands or big feet, is certainly one thing. We can all agree that this is actor bashing, but in the case of how they pronounce a word or words, to me is quite another issue, but that's JMHO. That's just me.

For example, I think that Phyllis, when she does these movements with her arms or rolls her eyeballs all the time, or does her other annoying things, may be how the writers allow her to act her part as Phyllis. Nonetheless it is annoying to me.

It could be, and we don't know this to be the case, but it could be possible this is how the writers are allowing her to play her part by pronouncing certain words in ways we don't like. I don't - I'm just grasping.

Another one who annoys me is Sharon. She looks like a deer caught in the headlights all time when somebody makes a statement to her, and then is constantly brushing her hair out of her eyes. I don't know if this is part of the character she is playing or not. Nevertheless these things annoy the he$$ out of me too. But I don't feel I'm actor bashing.

The bashing is all about whether you are criticizing the actor for being tall, fat, short, skinny, and like I said above, big nose, big mouth, bad teeth, or whatever. That's bashing their physical characteristics. That shouldn't be tolerated.

How they physically act, and motions they make, etc. and talk, could all be part of their character and the act. We don't know.
