Quote rustismith: of course you might say that , but if you have been watching the show for a long time then you are more invested in the vet characters than us new people but we only know some of the characters like MS that we cannot help but really like her You make a very good point. For those who have not been watching the show for a long period of time, will naturally be more familiar with the more current story lines and characters. Those of us who have been watching for years, find it hard to understand some of the changes the writers have made in the characters actions and the really weird storylines. That's where the frustrations are coming from with the older viewers. Just keep watching and enjoying.

Quote Bellydancing_Fool: sooo does anyone know if she signed her new contract or not? I am counting on your answer nouveau. I think this entire thread was started to try and convince the CBS brass that Michelle is worth ($) whatever it takes to have her resign. In fact, not too long ago, MS had on her myspace site confirmation about a "rumour" that she was offered a role on another popular prime time show. IN her blog she said that fans should write to the show (Y&R/CBS) expressing that they wanted her to stay. Within a few weeks of these comments appearing on her Myspace home page, her site was not up and running and was being "updated". There after, there was no mention of this rumour or the subsequent comments and her response. In fact, the entire blog was removed - never to be seen again (and I've consistently checked her revamped site to see - nada). So here's my theory: Perhaps MS is playing hardball with the CBS brass and since she is one of the major characters on Y&R who we have NOT YET heard anything re whether she has signed a new contract, I think things may be getting a little desperate...IMO.Things that make you go hmmmmm? Like so many in this thread, I agree completely that, while MS is a very good actress, I don't think she's the best actress: she's unfairly gotten the juiciest, most extensive s/ls compared to other high-calibre actors, and I think that is based solely on the fact that LML favours her as they worked together on the failed Pacific Palisades. I will say it again: that is just unfair. Other vets got major, intersting s/ls in the past that allowed them to show case their talents; the combination of writing and superb acting by many vets of the show is what made this show #1 for so long by maintaining it's very loyal fan base, not MS. Sorry. She just is NOT the centre of this show - nor should be LML. Re the Emmys: How could MS not be selected when the juiciest, dramatic s/ls have been deliberately written for her (thanks again LML). That to me is more a reflection of the writing and the writers choice actors than the real acting capabilities of other actors on the show. Sadly, many wonderful actors have been basically pushed aside to feature MS, in addition to a few others. Jess Walton, for example, is an amazing actress from the show who quickly comes to mind as not having real meaty s/ls written for her the past year; what s/ls she has been given have been very poorly written, IMO. I also agree with other - if MS were not on the show, I would not only resume watching the show, but would breathe a huge sigh of relief that other actors on the show might then finally get a chance to have meaty storylines again that is worthy of their acting skills and showcases it. The show will continue and still be #1 without MS. Rest assured of that. Adding spice is one thing, hogging the entire stage is something completely different. |

Thank you Soulsistah. You just expressed the very thing that many of us feel. I think a lot of it has to do with $$$$$ and favoritism. And many Y&R fans have voiced their resentment over this but feel it has fallen on deaf ears. If Ms. Stafford can get a better deal somewhere else, I say more power to her. |

Naturally the show would continue without M.S., but I disagree with those who say she's 'not' the best actress on the show. If not her, who is? |
