Well, I guess I had better come in here, sit down, and behave myself. I can listen to music, look at the flowers, and drink something cool while I cool down myself. Wish someone was here to talk to but I will listen to some classical music instead.
I have so much cleaning & bill work to deal with but I just chose a person from my family tree circa 1847 & went to work on her & just topped 15,000 in my family tree. It's a line that I have that goes back to 1697 on my line & I have a lot of modern people with the name but it is tedious work trying to connect them back to the 18th century & 19th century lines they came from. But worth it I guess. Every single person with that name is related to me. The name came from the UK but has died out there so I suspect that all of the Marshburn/Mashborne/Masbournes in the US came from my one ancestor. I have one of the "modern" ones in the tree now who said she used to run around with a crowd that included Richard Nixon when he was at Duke (probably in the 30s or 40s). She was so much fun to talk to. I wish I had got more from her while she was still alive. Mama says they were real good bootleggers, some of them. Says they taught the guy Daddy used to help when he was a little semi-orphaned boy.

My son wanted to be a firefighter when he was probably four years old. As a matter of fact I decorated his room like the bed hall in our fire station. My friends husband took us on a tour of the station and that's where I got my ideas. My son is forty two and has been a firefighter/paramedic for twenty years. He still loves his job. And yes, he often drives the truck.

If you take your little boy to the firehouse I'll bet they'll take him on a tour and let him get the feel of that truck.
i was thinking about it taking him there.we were out for breakfast one sunday moring and there were some firefighters ready to leave and i told my son that.i had told him go there and tell them you want to be a firefighter and he was ready to go but they were out the door.i tell him so many times if you want to be that when you grow up dont let anyone tell you,you cant do it.you can be whatever you want to be.i tell him over and over.if not then i dont care as long as he knows what he wants to be.i think thats cool about your son.too bad we live so far apart then i would say your son can talk to my son.he would love that.
When we were having this conversation yesterday I was wishing your little boy was here. Kids visit the firehouse all the time. They have small turnouts (Coats and boots)and helmets and take the kids pics "driving" all the equipment then give the pics to the kids. Also there is a great fire museum in Memphis. There is a wall with the names of all the men who were killed or injured in the line of duty. My sons name is on that wall.
that would be cool he would love it.i am sorry about your son.how long again was this?but when i get better i want to take him to the firehouse and see if he can look around and have them talk to him.he would talk about it for days.
It was just a couple of burns. The reason for the recognition was that they were trying to bring a young child out of the burning apartment. They were already sure she was gone but wanted to recover her for her mother.

Our town also has a Dalmatian costume that one of the guys can wear. He is wearing his turn outs, too.

Well I'm here but don't do the ancestor thing. I do know what you mean about coming in and cooling off. The board is a mad house today but we knew it would be.

Sorry, Lucy. When I find myself actually getting pixxed off out on the boards, I retreat to ancestors & day lilies. I remembered that I had one with a very blue heart blooming & went off to pollinate as many of the others with it as possible. It's a Luddy Lambertson creation. He was one of the first to work with blues almost exclusively (so naturally I like him. ). He's kind of a cool old hippy dude who does art & daylilies.
In my ancestor stuff I found one of the early Baptists, burned in 1529, who was named Joerg Blaurock, which means Blue Rock.
    I wish Wombie was here.

My sweetest college boy friend had a Dalmatian named Julie. She was a nice dog. I still have a picture of her somewhere if my "cleaning crew" has not thrown it out.

I just found my first tick of the season, crawling on my bosom. Now my skin feels all creepy crawly all over. I guess I got it out in the garden

Hello my friends - I've been away for a few days to be with an old high school friend who has just lost her daughter. She asked me to come, but I am not sure I was any comfort to her. Her heart is forever broken; it is a wound that never heals.

On the lighter side, I guess the husband doesn't know where the garden hose is; he let my lavendar dry up & I think my plumeria cuttings are done for as well.

I have weaned myself off both Y&R & B&B; I am sure things will never be the same in soapland - when there used to be just a tad of a morality lesson tucked into most storylines.
I skip around the boards for entertainment, & love coming here for the friendship. Prayers for all who need them.
    Wombie, come home.

I just typed a long winded post and accidentally deleted it. I'm fairly sure I will never master this iPad and am wondering why I would even want to. I'm going to get myself another MacBook very soon.

I mainly wanted to say how much I also miss Wombat. Anyone in contact with her?

I e-mail her at least once a week but she just does not feel like coming to the board or e-mailing right now. I think one of her daughters is going to take Mum when she can leave the hospital but I don't know when Carmel is having her lung surgery or how bad it will be or if anyone will be helping her. I want to call her & I have her # but am not quite sure how to go about calling Australia. Maybe my husband will come home not busy & grumpy this evening & help me with it (even tho I accidentally cut off his call from Belarus this morning).
One of us who lives in or near California went to visit Eppy. She is doing a little better but that is really all I can say. I wish I could go see Wombie (altho she would probably throw me out). It is heart breaking to see people I care about in so much trouble.
It seems to me that the boards are just so much less interesting since both of them are no longer posting.

I had a huge lavendar, big as a bushel basket. It had been growing in my garden for 10 years, getting bigger & bigger. It disappeared last year when V tilled the garden for me. It must have looked like a dried out tumbleweed to him. You can use lavender as a flavoring agent in food as well as putting springs of it in your linens. I don't get much use out of it but like it.
