Oh I am definitely happier with the cooler weather habby. I love to have my windows open so I can hear the birds and the wind in the trees. Sorry you have been ill habby.

You'll get the hang of your new computer. They are a pain in the butt when they don't work but so much fun when they do.

I won't be around for a bit. My oldest brother has passed away and we need to travel west this week. We knew he wasn't going to get well but even so, this was a shock. His family is so heartbroken as are we, his siblings. For once I am glad that my mother lives with dementia as she won't have to be told.

I may pop in here and there before I go. My heart just hasn't been in it and there is too much nonsense on the outside of The Club.

So sorry to hear of your loss, cMom.

Strange as it sounds your mother will not feel this loss.

When my husband died, I thought his father ... lost his own will to live.

    Come back soon.

habby, good to see you here and sounds like you're on the mend if you have an appetite....

CM, I'll be thinking of you this coming week, have a safe trip, and let us know when you return. Prayers to you, your SIL and all the family at this difficult time.

Thanks, as always, Blue, for the treats.

I love Sept....time for us to hit the beach with no crowds.

I am very hungry ... I have been sick for weeks. I will refrain from stuffing myself however.

Have you ever known anyone who will be happy with the cooler weather ... apart from me that is?

My old computer gave up ... the new one has Windows 8 ... strange as it sounds I am having a hard time adjusting.

    Oh the joys of life...

I KNEW something must be wrong. I am been fretting over your prolonged absence. I hoped it was just the computer. Mine has been cutting up too. I was finally forced to accept the new Yahoo mail program & hate it but am gradually adjusting. My computer is old. I think I got it in 2004 but dread having to get used to another & trying to get all my ancestor files moved. This has been a bad year, despite our beautiful baby cheering us up. Maybe I should treat myself to a new computer & printer.
Glad you are on the mend.BTW, I am working on ancestors again. Someone gave me a chunk of history I have been looking for so many years. The thing is, he is not SURE & he got it from courthouse records so I could not verify it in the reference books I have at home. His notes are apparently as jumbled as my own even though he is a professional genealogist & publishes a history newsletter every month. So, I guess I am going to have to make a trip down east during the week & try to find them for myself. Not only is it a big missing part of the puzzle but links me to 18th century ancestors I had researched but could not find the niche for them in the tree. My class reunion is coming up but the "kids" I liked & hung out with never go. Most of the ones who do are the ones who were cheerleaders or basketball players & high school was the best time of their lives. Mine came much later. I did come back once all slim & trim & blonde, wearing a vintage coutourier dress of dark navy with a wide, quilted hemline & my very handsome but very gay escort went around asking people if I was that beautiful in high school (no. I was a sullen little wall flower who read all the time. lol). The other girls at the reunion were all plump hausfraus with small children. The next time I went, the tables were turned & I got a prize for being the oldest among them to attempt motherhood and was the one who was plump and tired. The thing is, you can't make up for high school no matter how handsome/beautiful, successful, & famous/notorious you have become. If they were not interested then, they never will be. They will just be jealous & catty.

The thing is, we are beginning to die off now. For a long time, there had been no deaths in my class except a few who died off early (a couple who were both in my class died in a small plane crash) & one who had worked for a nuclear plant died young of cancer.
It might be good to see them one more time.

Yes, your Mama will be okay. She is in a place where she is somewhat protected from sadness. It is you who will grieve. I hope the ceremony is one that offers you comfort.
One of my cousins kept calling over the years to tell me about friends of my mother's who had died & telling me to use my own judgment about whether to tell her or not. But when a person has lost her parents, her husband of nearly 60 years, and more than half her brothers & sisters, she can take nearly anything.

Habbyfan, I used to build my own computers before I decided to go with a notebook. I have 3 notebook and 1 netbook computers, all with different Windows OS. I have XP, Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8. I like XP best. I spend more time with help on this Windows 8 machine than I ever did on the XP machine. I can totally relate to the adjustment.

Windows 8 is only one of the things I have problems with these days. The tiny font size in a lot of equipment manuals these days should be illegal. Most countries have some organization concerned about people's health, for example lungs and tobacco. It doesn't seem like anyone is concern about the strain the tiny font causes people's eyes.

Like you said, "Oh the joys of life..."

Hope you feel real good real soon.

Anyone have some warm apple pie with vanilla ice cream handy?

I loved my xp ... told my g-daughter today I wish I had just purchased a new screen but she said it would cost as much as my new one ... do I care, really? Just trying not to be difficult about it.

I am feeling so much better, thank you,I know I am on the mend because Blue keeps bringing goodies to the club and it is hard not to feast.

So happy to have this club to visit.
