Lara and Ani get amorous and then leave for snacks while Michelle giggles wildly at the cuteness factor. Gina arrives at the beach, happy to run into Richard, an old friend. They hug and she tells him she has a party to attend, so they agree to get together soon.
Nearby, Jamie’s snuggling with Drew, the new love interest he met on Twitter. Everyone tells Ani how they’re looking forward to her gallery opening. Gina arrives and Lara runs off with Drew. Owen finishes playing volleyball while Sami and Gina talk about her struggles with her father. When Van shows up, Sami’s shocked to learn he’s related to both Gina and Owen, while the cousins sit together a little awkwardly. Sami shares how she met Van and the guys go off to play volleyball while Gina finds Guya nearby, snuggling with Brandon. He takes off to surf and Guya admits she’s living in the moment and enjoying it. Gina’s happy for her and they giggle as they stare at him walking toward the surf.
Nearby, Jess tells Jamie she’s in LA for a few weeks. Jamie gushes about how sweet Drew is and encourages Michelle to start dating. She’s not feeling adventurous. Jess tells a story about ending up in a tree after hang-gliding and Jamie becomes disinterested when he sees Brandon coming in from surfing. He wanders over to talk to him.
At the beer table, Ani, Michelle, Jamie and Gina munch and drink beer. Van accidentally gets hit hard by Owen’s ball and runs off in pain, causing Sami to smack Owen and accuse him of hitting his cousin hard on purpose. At the table, Gina thanks Lara for making Ani so happy and warns that if she hurts Ani, she’ll answer to her. Van finds Guya outside at her beach house which is in the vicinity. She warns him not to get close to Sami, considering she’s dating Owen. Van’s hurt and blasts her for her lack of trust. He’s not the same person he once was. Ever since Aunt Katie died, it’s been all about Owen and Gina and he’s feeling ignored.
Gina walks back to her car and finds Richard still near his van. It’s been 20 years since they saw each other. Richard shares news about his family and she tells him that John had a stroke. They reminisce and Richard says he found teaching on a college campus all these years to be uninspiring. He’s been traveling the country in his van and has been divorced for 10 years. He asks about her love life. "Who’s the lucky guy?" She laughs and says she’s not seeing anybody and then takes off. He smiles as he watches her walk away.
Ani returns to Lara’s pad after a yoga class and they make out and reminisce about how amazing the sex was last night. Lara wants to take Ani to bed but Ani knows Lara’s in the middle of work so they agree to have a picnic at the beach later.
Ani takes photos of Lara on the beach and suggests she go topless. She doesn't but they find it funny and later have a snack. Lara notices Ani’s lack of appetite and Ani shares how she ballooned up after a bad break up and was humiliated about it from an aunt so she's still trying to lose that weight. Lara's surprised and thinks Ani looks gorgeous. They start making out.
At Lara’s apartment, Ani notices a bin full of emptied wine bottles as she’s preparing dinner. Lara goes into the kitchen and tests the food. It’s heaven. She admits her own family eats Burger King. They make out a little and Lara suggests opening wine. Ani distracts her with a kiss and they wind up in the shower for a little lovin'.
At the beach, Lara takes a call from Krista, her editor. She appears to be stressed after and takes few drinks from a flash. Gina comes upon her sleeping and wakes her up. Gina notices the flask and her face falls. Lara tries to hide it and tells Gina she’s got to head to Ani’s for dinner.
On the beach, Lara and Ani nibble on lunch while Lara complains about her book editor. Lara pokes fun at the stick figure models at work but is happy she got a shoot on the Queen Elizabeth with the cast of Glee. Lara’s impressed and wishes she had her job! Ani says it’s stressful and they’re all so skinny that she thinks she needs to work out more. Lara assures her that she’s delectable and they make out.
Ani very sweetly drops by Lara’s place with a specialty coffee and says after her photo shoot she’s off to lend Gina support because of John’s stroke. Lara knows Gina’s her past and doesn’t seem threatened so they decide to meet for dinner.
Ani fixes dinner as Lara swears at her editor on the phone. After Lara hangs up, they nibble on some food and Lara complains about her editor and starts drinking. Ani sits agape and starts to massage Lara. Talk turns to Ani’s job and they get close and kiss. Lara’s mood becomes playful, so they start dancing and making out.
At the loft, Jamie brings drinks to Michelle, Owen, Gina and Tracy. They all toast to Owen, who got the part in the film he had auditioned for. He tells them next week is the start of rehearsals and a wardrobe fitting. Michelle jokingly tells him not to forget about them when he becomes famous. The conversation halts when Ani and Lara sidle up to the table. Gina tells Ani she didn’t know she was back in town. Puzzled, Ani says she didn’t go anywhere and an awkward moment is made worse when Gina introduces herself to Lara but forgets to introduce Tracy, who throws her a look, before introducing herself. Lara asks if they’re celebrating something. Gina shares that her brother got a film and Lara congratulates him. After Ani and Lara say their goodbyes and head to their table, Tracy spins around, angrily and asks what that was. Gina doesn’t know what she means. Tracy tells her not to treat her like an idiot. The moment they came to the table, Gina pulled away from her. Why? Gina denies it and when Tracy wants to take a walk, Gina offers to go with her.
