"The Vampire Diaries" was a major winner at the 2012 Teen Choice Awards. The series scooped up six awards. They won Choice TV Show: Sci-fi/Fantasy while Nina Dobrev (Elena) took home the trophy for Choice TV Actress: Sci-fi/Fantasy and Ian Somerhalder claimed the Choice TV Actor: Sci-fi/Fantasy award. Candice Accola (Caroline) and Michael Trevino (Tyler) were each awarded in the Choice TV Scene Stealer categories. Last but not least, Ian Somerhalder also claimed the cherished Choice Male Hottie honor.

The second round of nominations have been released and "The Vampire Diaries" have added a few more to their already impressive showing this year.
Joseph Morgan (Klaus) has been picked for the Choice TV Villain category. Candice Accola has picked up the nomination in the Choice TV Female Scene Stealer category while Michael Trevino (Tyler) received the nod in the Choice TV Male Scene Stealer category.

Actors from the show also dominate in many categories. Nina Dobrev (Elena) and Kat Graham (Bonnie) were both nominated in the Choice TV Actress: Fantasy/Sci-Fi category. Meanwhile, Paul Wesley (Stefan) and Ian Somerhalder (Damon) also received nods for their work. While both men were recognized in the Choice TV Actor: Fantasy/Sci-Fi category, only Somerhalder was nominated in the coveted Choice Male Hottie category.
