Here's a sneak peek at what will be coming up over the next few weeks in Mystic Falls.
After Elena finds more of John Gilbert's old journals, there will be plenty of flashbacks to flesh out the past of the Salvatore brothers. This time the focus falls on Stefan, who tells Elena about the aftermath of the church-burning in 1864 and the bleak period that followed in his life. He might have turned completely evil back then if it weren't for an unlikely character pulling him back from the dark side.
Jonas interrogates his son to get to the bottom of what's been going on. Luka isn't very good at keeping his mouth shut and this leads to Jonas paying Bonnie and Jeremy a visit. Stefan tries to talk her into collaborating with the warlocks but it doesn't look like Dr. Martin is in the mood to co-operate and the fragile trust between them quickly collapses with some nasty results.
Damon continues trying to get ahead of Elijah in the plan to take down Klaus. He manages to connive his way into getting Elijah to join him for a dinner party with Jenna, Alaric and Andie. Unfortunately for Damon, his plan falls apart and things get chaotic. In the aftermath, they get even worse. Alaric has a confession he has to make to Jenna that could rock things between them and Katherine has something to tell Damon that he was not expecting. Katherine continues to annoy everyone but they have to keep her around because she's the only one with knowledge that could save them from Klaus. And since things aren't exactly going well with Tyler, Caroline turns her attentions back to Matt.
