On her blog, LJ Smith, the creator of The Vampire Diaries, revealed a few things fans can soon expect.
The newest trilogy of books in the saga will be titled "The Hunters" and will follow the core characters as they go off to college and interact with new people in fresh situations. Currently, the three books are planned for publication beginning in the summer of 2011. Their titles are expected to be "Phantom," "Moonsong" and "Eternity." Specific release dates have not yet been given.
For those eager to read more "The Vampire Diaries" material though, there will be a series of paperback prequels released in conjunction with the TV show called "Stefan's Diaries." These are not written by LJ Smith. They provide background stories on Stefan and some of the other characters and span back to the period of the Civil War. HarperCollins Children’s Books and Alloy Entertainment have scheduled them for release this November.
