Science Experiment.

At the hospital, Avery and Jack argue with Daniel about Phyllis' care. Avery says she's Phyllis' sister. Daniel asks if she's serious right now. Nick interjects that Avery and Phyllis were getting closer. Daniel tells Nick he should hit the door. Nick wants to explain himself. A livid Daniel would love to hear it. They step away. Jack soothes Summer and Avery that Daniel will calm down. Avery says Phyllis needs to be with her loved ones. If Daniel won't back down, she'll take legal action. Nearby, Nick tells Daniel what he did with Summer's paternity was about Cassie. Daniel doesn't get him using Cassie as an excuse for what he did to Summer - he knew he it was wrong. Daniel reminds Nick that he came forward to exonerate him after Cassie's death because it was right - yet he took another man's child from him.

At home, Sharon tries unsuccessfully to get information about Phyllis by phone. Cassie appears. Sharon says she wants Phyllis to get better, but... Cassie continues, "She'll tell everyone that Summer really is Dad's." Cassie adds that any chance Sharon and Nick had of getting back together will be gone forever. Sharon worries that Phyllis could be awake right now, talking. Cassie suggests she call Nick. Sharon can't - she thinks he'll sense her fear.

At the station, Lauren asks Paul about Carmine. Paul tells her, Kevin, and Michael there is still no sign of him. Michael then announces that he's being set free. Paul explains that there is no longer any security footage. They look at Kevin. Everything's been thrown out for lack of evidence. Paul warns Kevin this stuff must never happen again. Lauren wants to see Phyllis. Michael wants to go home. Fen appears and hugs him. Michael tells Fen his behavior's been unacceptable. Fen agrees; drugs aren't the answer - he spoke to a counselor today. Michael and Lauren are pleased. Fen leaves to see Summer.

Lily is on the phone with Cane about the blog post. Suddenly he appears there at Crimson Lights. Hilary arrives saying everyone at Chancellor is talking about her and Cane. Lily apologizes to her for the embarrassing gossip item. Hilary asks Lily if she's comfortable with her staying on at Chancellor, and goes on about wanting to pulverize the blogger. Cane says he'll see her at the office. Lily tells Cane she was mostly upset because he didn't tell her Hilary was with him. He says there was no truth to that post, but what about the one about her and Tyler? Lily is upset that she's being questioned about Tyler. Cane still thinks she hasn't let it go. Lily can't understand why they're talking about it. They decide to do-over his homecoming. Cane pretends to re-enter. Hilary watches as they kiss.

Kevin arrives at the hospital to find Daniel shouting about trying to do the right thing. Avery tells Daniel they all love her. Kevin and Daniel go into Phyllis' room. Kevin asks if Daniel's pushing to take her away because he feels guilty about leaving. Daniel says partly, but he also thinks the facility is her best shot. Outside, Jack tells Summer he's not convinced that Daniel's facility is so great. Fen arrives and hugs Summer. They discuss his OD mistake. Summer tells him she's confused. He advises her to look in her own heart. Fen gets a mean text that everyone's seen his mother naked. He eyes up the drug cart. Later, Jack talks to Daniel about how much he loves Phyllis. He understands his need to control the situation, but wants Daniel to trust him to do everything possible to bring her back. They bicker. Jack will not let Phyllis become a science experiment.

At the tackhouse, Nick tells Avery that Daniel feels betrayed by him. Avery wants to establish her legal rights, but Nick points out she's acting as volatile as Daniel. She rants about being far away from Phyllis if she dies. Nick says if Phyllis dies he won't want to be anywhere. Nick thinks it makes no sense that this happened without a reason. Avery says it just happened. She leaves to bake cupcakes and research the law. Summer arrives. She tells Nick she needs his help.

At home, Lauren kisses Michael, who doesn't want to go too fast. Lauren says they've lost too much time already. She asks him to make her feel safe. They make love. After, they profess their love for each other.

In a little room, Carmine thinks about Lauren and says he'll never let her go.

Genoa City Spoilers for Tomorrow on The Young and the Restless:

Billy says to his wife, "I just want to fix all of this for you, Vick. I promise you I will."

Avery asks Nick, "You think Phyllis should be taken from the people she loves and used as some sort of guinea pig in an experimental hospital?"

Jack tells Phyllis, "We have so much more ahead of us. Please come back to me."
