Sharon reminds him that Adam saved their daughter's life and was blinded trying to stop Patty. Sharon says she was planning to return to Genoa City, but doesn't want to leave Adam alone. Nick says if she wants to stay, he'll bring Faith to visit again.
At a cemetery near the farm, Adam kneels by his mother's grave. He talks about how she tried to keep him from his father's influence but it didn't work. Adam says it was always her that protected him, not the farm. A man, Tom, approaches and says Hope was a wonderful woman. He helps Adam out of the cemetery.
Vikki arrives at home and asks Billy how it went with Anita. He says he hinted at them quietly fading into the background when the baby is born. Vikki is uncomfortable. Billy reminds her Anita would have no qualms about ruining her grandson's life if she doesn't get what she came for. Anita and Chelsea enter. Nikki follows and invites Anita to join her at Gloworm. When Anita goes to get her purse, Nikki whispers to Billy and Vikki that Anita is hiding something. Once the mothers are gone, Chelsea tells Vikki and Billy that Anita doesn't speak for her.
Hope appears to Adam in the farm's kitchen. She says he used to sit in that same spot after school and talk to her. Adam says she understood him. Hope says she's as much a part of him as Victor is, and he can survive what's happened to him because of her spirit and strength. Adam cries. She tells him he's capable of happiness, honesty and integrity. Hope wants him to be self-reliant, but not alienated. Adam says he won't call Sharon back there. Hope says he won't have to. She disappears, and Sharon arrives. Adam cries, says he needs her, and apologizes. He says he wants to live again, but he can't do it without her. Sharon says she's there.
