Soaps.com readers know that back on May 15th, The Young and the Restless's Doug Davidson (Paul Williams) celebrated 30 years on the show! As a tribute to the character we have watched evolve over the years from a young man to a dashing Detective, Soaps.com recently conducted a poll on the Y&R Main Page, to find out what our readers are feel should happen in Paul's currently non-existent love life!
Of course, over the years, the handsome, blond and blue-eyed Paul has romanced his fair share of ladies including, Nikki Reed (Melody Thomas Scott), Lauren Fenmore (Tracey Bregman), Cassandra Rawlins (Nina Arveson), Christine Blair (Lauralee Bell), Isabella Brana (Eva Longoria), and most recently, Detective Maggie Sullivan.
The results of the Soaps.com poll, indicated that a majority, 51%, wanted to see Paul's most recent love, Maggie, return to Genoa City and pick up where she left off with her man. However, 24% see potential for old flame Nikki to fall back into a romance with Paul, perhaps after he rescues her from David's clutches! Another 11% of Soaps.com readers thought the idea of bringing Ashley Abbott back to town from L.A. and hooking her up with our lonely detective was a good idea. A small percentage, 7%, would like to see him go another round with ex-wife Lauren, while the final 7% of voters thought Paul should be given an entirely new love interest on Y&R!
Perhaps Paul is just too busy for romance right now, as he seems to be spending every spare moment trying to solve the puzzle that is David Chow, in order to prevent Nikki from suffering certain heartache, bankruptcy - or even death! Our Paul has a well-proven track record of saving damsels in distress on The Young and the Restless, including the time he unearthed Lauren (who had been buried alive by a madman), and his past heroism where Nikki is concerned, when he saved her from the sinister Rick Daros (Randy Holland)!
Soaps.com recently took a look at a funny incident from when Paul was married to Lauren in Yesteryears: Paul Williams. Check it out! Congratulations go out to Doug Davidson on making the character of Paul Williams so loved over all of these 30 years! Here's to many more to come!
