At the hospital, Hope tells Ridge he can't marry Brooke if he has feelings for Katie. Brooke enters with the doctor, who assures Katie her collapse was nothing to do with her heart. She'll be released but Hope will stay with her. Hope remembers that she has to go to Paris tonight. She needs Brooke to come with her. Brooke protests, but Hope says Ridge can look after Katie and they can put the wedding on hold. Brooke agrees since it's important to Hope. She leaves to prepare. Hope informs Ridge and Katie they now have time to figure out what they're doing. Hope doesn't want her mother to be hurt. Ridge says he was going to marry Brooke and try to make her happy. Katie was going to support it. Hope asks Katie if that's true. Katie says yes, but admits a piece of her would have died inside. Hope says their timing was horrendous and their private feelings have escaped into the real world. Ridge thinks she's right; they have to look at this. Hope says they have a couple of days. Ridge tells Katie they have to be careful. Katie thinks it's a little late. "You know how I feel." She thinks a couple of days seems dangerous. He asks what she's afraid of. "Myself."
At the Malibu house, Liam and Bill discuss Katie's collapse. Bill thinks since Katie seemed fine, she may have done this for him; to give him and Brooke a second chance. He asks Liam if he believes in fate. Liam says, "No. And neither do you." Bill says Ridge doesn't love Brooke or he'd have married her anyway. Liam phones and finds out Katie is being discharged. Bill wonders where Brooke will be tonight. He thinks it's time she stopped playing the role of the woman who will never be good enough for Ridge and let herself be loved. Later, Bill comes downstairs in a suit he wore on a magazine cover and asks Liam if he notices anything familiar. "I'm talkin' about the threads, man." He's going to look for Brooke and reminds Liam that right now is all they have.
Brooke opens her door to Bill. He says, "Hi. I'd be lying if I said I'm sorry." Bill asks how Katie is doing. Brooke says she's fine and wonders if he's been drinking. She invites him in. He notices she's packing. Bill asks her to let him love her for the rest of her life. She says that would have been nice, but everything was poisoned. She assures Bill he's special. He wants to go upstairs. "He doesn't love you like I do." Brooke replies, "I don't want him to."
