Updated June 25, 2018: Soaps.com has learned that the Hallmark Channel will bring back its original hit series Chesapeake Shores for season three. Tune in Sunday August 5 at 9:00 PM and watch the new season trailer below.
On June 26, 2017 we reported Hallmark's Chesapeake Shores will return with season two beginning on Sunday August 6 at 9:00 PM. Back in December 2015, Soaps.com alerted fans to the Hallmark Channel’s new original series Chesapeake Shores, starring soap alums Jesse Metcalfe and Barbara Niven. On February 21, we reported that season one was filmed in Vancouver Island's Qualicum Beach and Parksville, British Columbia. The show ran from August to October 2016 and was a huge success – the most-watched series in the network’s history among women ages 25 to 54. Due to its popularity, Hallmark will be bringing fans another season this summer. Filming for season two will begin in the spring leading up to the ten-episode event, tentatively scheduled to premiere in July on Sunday evenings at 9:00 PM.
“Viewers have fallen in love with the O’Briens and their heartfelt and compelling narratives as they navigate through life, love, relationships and career decisions,” said Michelle Vicary, Executive Vice President, Programming and Network Publicity, Crown Media Family Networks. “We look forward to continuing the multi-generational family storylines and journeys that people of all ages can enjoy and relate to, which makes ‘Chesapeake Shores’ the appropriate fit for the quality family entertainment we provide.”
Season one saw Abby O'Brien Winters leaving New York and returning to her hometown Chesapeake Shores, Maryland to help her younger sister Jess, who found herself in a financial mess while renovating the Inn at Eagle Point. Abby, divorced with two daughters, was forced to face the man she ran out on sixteen years ago, Trace Riley, who reminded her that second chances do exist.
Metcalfe (Passions, Dallas) stars as Trace, opposite Meghan Ory as Abby O’Brien with Niven (One Life to Live, The Bold and the Beautiful) as Abby’s mother Megan. Brendan Penny, who recently appeared alongside Days of our Lives’ (Theresa) Jen Lilley in A Dash of Love, plays Megan’s son Kevin O’Brien. The series is based on the novels by Sherryl Woods, who also serves as an executive producer alongside Dan Paulson and Nancey Silvers.
Stay tuned, as Soaps.com will update readers on the official season two premiere date when it’s released. If you missed season one, or want a refresher, it’s available online via the series’ Facebook post:
