One Direction's Zayn Malik engaged.
A representative of One Direction's record label confirmed to People that band member, Zayn Malik, is engaged to Perrie Edwards. Edwards is a member of British all-girl group, Little Mix, who were discovered on the UK version of "The X Factor."

Lee Thompson Young dead at 29.
Actor Lee Thompson Young ("Rizzoli & Isles," "The Famous Jett Jackson," "Friday Night Lights") took his own life on the morning of August 19. His body, which TMZ reported was found with a self-inflicted gunshot wound, was discovered after he failed to show up for taping on set. TNT, Warner Bros. and "Rizzoli & Isles" executive producer, Janet Tamaro, issued a statement: "We are beyond heartbroken at the loss of this sweet, gentle, good-hearted, intelligent man. He was truly a member of our family. Lee will be cherished and remembered by all who knew and loved him, both on and off screen, for his positive energy, infectious smile and soulful grace. We send our deepest condolences and thoughts to his family, to his friends and, most especially, to his beloved mother."

Lisa Robin Kelly dead at 43.
Less than two months after Lisa Robin Kelly’s DUI arrest, the "That 70s Show" actress passed away in a rehab facility on August 15. While initial reports stated that her death was due to cardiac arrest, TMZ is now reporting that her death is under investigation by both the L.A. County Sheriff's Office and the L.A. County Coroner because the doctor at the rehab facility allegedly failed to report the death to the coroner when it happened, and later told the coroner that Kelly's cause of death was an embolism (a blood clot that causes a sudden interruption of blood flow to an organ), which is impossible to know without performing an autopsy.

Justin Bieber's crew checked by airport dogs.
Following an anonymous tip that members of Justin Bieber's group might have drugs in their bags, officials at the Fort Lauderdale International Airport investigated with the help of drug-sniffing dogs. TMZ reported that Bieber's group was given the all-clear on August 19.

Bethany Hamilton marries.
Pro surfer, Bethany Hamilton, who famously lost an arm in a shark attack, married her partner, Adam Dirks, on the island of Kauai, Hawaii, on Saturday August 17. The happy bride tweeted:

Jana Kramer and Brantley Gilbert split.
Country crooners Brantley Gilbert and Jana Kramer ("One Tree Hill") have announced the end of their engagement, citing their busy careers as the reason, according to People. Both received 'Best New Artist' nods at the Academy of Country Music Awards back in April. Check out the video clip:

Soleil Moon Frye pregnant.
Soleil Moon Frye of "Punky Brewster" fame, announced on "Today" last week, that she is pregnant with her third child. She and husband, Jason Goldberg, already have two daughters, Poet Rose Sienna, age 7, and Jagger Joseph Blue, age 5. Soleil Moon Frye is also looking forward to the debut of her new show, "Home Made Simple," which is set to begin airing on the OWN network later in 2013.

Lindsay Lohan's revealing Oprah interview.
Lindsay Lohan ("Georgia Rule," "Freaky Friday") sat down with Oprah for an hour-long interview straight out of her latest stint in rehab. The most notable reveals from the chat were that Lohan preferred to get high on booze and cocaine, she never took rehab seriously until this most recent stay, she wasted a lot of money foolishly, and is grateful no one got hurt because of her mistakes.

Kim Zolciak expecting twins.
Real Housewives of Atlanta star, Kim Zolciak ("Don't Be Tardy"), revealed to E! News on August 19 that she and hubby, Atlanta Falcons' Kroy Biermann, are expecting twins. The two new babies will join the couple's two young sons, Kash and Kroy Jr., and two older daughters, Brielle and Arianna, from Zolciak's former marriage.

Alex Band abducted, robbed and beaten.
Singer Alex Band of the band "The Calling," was the victim of a kidnapping, robbery, and assault last weekend in Lapeer, Michigan. Band was in the area for a music festival and was abducted, robbed, beaten, and then abandoned on some train tracks, after he set out from his hotel on foot to visit a nearby convenience store in the wee hours of the morning. TMZ reported that the suspects are two men in a blue minivan, and that Band was hospitalized, treated, and released following the incident.

John Mellencamp's sons charged with assault.
Singer John Mellencamp's two sons, Hud Mellencamp, age 19, and Speck Mellencamp, age 18, were arrested on battery charges following an incident near their home in Bloomington, Indiana. It is alleged that the two young men, along with 19 year-old Ty Smith, entered a porch on the night of July 29 and punched and kicked another 19 year-old man whom Speck Mellencamp believed had punched him earlier that night at a party in the same location.

Lady Gaga and Perez Hilton feud.
Former besties, Lady Gaga and Perez Hilton have become engaged in a very bitter Twitter war, that appears to have begun with Gaga insinuating that Hilton was stalking her. This led to members of Gaga's fanbase tweeting a barrage of shocking insults and threats to Hilton and his baby son. Gaga tweeted her fans:

Hilton, in a statement on his website, said, "I hope her fans stop sending me death threats, as the suggestion that I pose a danger to Lady GaGa is preposterous."

Paulina Gretzky engaged.
Paulina Gretzky, daughter of hockey legend, Wayne Gretzky, and Janet Jones ("Flamingo Kid"), announced her engagement to pro golfer, Dustin Johnson, on Sunday August 18. Gretzky shared the news by retweeting Johnson's announcement with accompanying photo:

Donald Faison and CaCee Cobb become parents.
Donald Faison ('The Exes," "Scrubs") and wife, CaCee Cobb, who is best known for being singer Jessica Simpson's best friend, took to Twitter on August 16 to announce the birth of their first child together, a son, born on August 15. Cobb tweeted:

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West miss Kylie Jenner's birthday.
New parents, Kim Kardashian ("Keeping Up With The Kardashians") and rapper, Kanye West, were unable to attend the Alice In Wonderland-themed sixteenth birthday party of Kardashian's younger sister, Kylie Jenner, because they left town with new daughter North in tow to attend West's grandfather's funeral. Hip-hop artists Drake and Big Sean were dispatched to the birthday party to ensure Jenner and the rest of the family had a good time, while West, Kardashian, and Baby North traveled to Oklahoma to attend the funeral of Portwood Williams Sr., who passed away at the age of 98 on August 10.
