Breaking celebrity news.
In this week's Celebrity News … Denise Richards puts family first, Rihanna and Chris focus on themselves, and Jennifer Lopez is safe from danger.
Denise Richards steps in.
With Mother's Day just around the corner, it's probably not too early to recognize Denise Richards ("Madea's Witness Protection") as celebrity mom of the year. Richards has once again come to the aid of ex-husband Charlie Sheen ("Anger Management") and his other ex-wife Brooke Mueller, whose alleged drug use has forced the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services to remove their twin boys, Bob and Max, from the family home – deemed unsafe by authorities. On Wednesday, a judge maintained that the boys remain with Richards while Mueller seeks treatment at UCLA Medical Center in California. Richards is the mother of two of Sheen's daughters, Sam and Lola.
J-Lo's narrow escape.
Gun violence was responsible for temporarily closing down the set of Jennifer Lopez's latest music video for the song "Live It Up" in Fort Lauderdale, FL where the singer was filming with rapper Pitbull. Lopez was giving an interview to Rob Marciano of "Entertainment Tonight" when security quickly squired her away to safety after gunshots were heard nearby. Police reportedly detained several people only to release them later as none of the suspects were found.
Lindsey Lohan staying put.
Lindsey Lohan ("The Canyons") has used her eleventh hour to make several abrupt decisions this past week. After checking into Morningside Recovery (a rehab facility that was never agreed upon in court) and then quickly checking out, Lohan fired her lawyer Mark Heller and later rehired her former lawyer Shawn Holley who reportedly arranged for Lohan to begin her court-ordered 90-day treatment at the Betty Ford Center in Los Angeles. Lohan has since completed the mandatory 48-hours of detoxing at the center. We also learned more about Lohan's reasons for resisting rehab as bits and pieces of Lohan's Piers Morgan interview trickled out. Lohan was candid about her substance abuse with alcohol, cocaine, marijuana and ecstasy – although she downplayed how often the media perceived her drug use and questioned the benefits of rehab, reportedly saying that she wasn't opposed to spending three months with herself, but that her time may have been better served while working with children abroad.
Keira Knightley gets married!
Actress Keira Knightly ("Anna Karenina") recently married her musician boyfriend, James Righton on the same day that Honey Boo-Boo's mother, June Shannon ("Here Comes Honey Boo Boo") also tied the knot with her beau of nine years, Mike Thompson. Knightley and Righton chose the south of France to say their "I dos" before close friends and family in an intimate ceremony. The bride appeared carefree, wearing flats and a knee-length, strapless gown designed by Karl Lagerfeld and accessorized with a cropped Chanel jacket.
In complete contrast, Shannon wore a camouflage pick-up gown with orange underpinnings and similarly bedazzled running shoes for her wedding to Thompson which took place in their backyard, followed by a family barbeque.
Swearing Schwarzenegger caught sneaking into club.
Arnold Schwarzenegger's 19-year old son Patrick made quite the scene on the weekend after he was kicked out of the Sayers Club in Hollywood. The younger Schwarzenegger apparently managed to sneak into the club with a fake ID only to be evicted after a few too many drinks prompted him to throw ice cubes and threaten to beat up the DJ. The following day, however, Schwarzenegger soberly tweeted his shame and apologies.
Lauryn Hill jail-bound?
Singer Lauryn Hill has been sentenced to three months in prison followed by three months of house arrest and $60,000 in reported fines and penalties for her failure to pay her taxes. After a lengthy withdrawal from the music business, reportedly due to a lack of artistic freedom and perceived threats against her family, which includes six children Hill recently signed a record deal with Sony Worldwide Entertainment to begin work on a new album – something that might have to wait as she gets set to serve out her sentence despite repaying over $970,000 to cover her 2005 to 2007 tax evasion debt by deadline. Hill also released a new single, Neurotic Society (Compulsory Mix) ahead of her sentencing.
Are Rihanna and Chris officially over?
Really? Any hopes of a second reconciliation between Chris Brown and Rihanna is looking pretty far-fetched these days especially when the two seem to have thrown down in a Twitter war over their alleged breakup. Distance between the two stars also appears to speak volumes as Brown was reportedly seen partying solo – as in, with other women – in Vegas for his birthday, while Rihanna was reportedly late for her Boston concert performance. But what cemented the break-up for news outlets this past week was Brown's pseudo-confession on The Kyle And Jackie O radio show, where he said, "'I'm always going to love that person ... [but] I can’t be focused on wife-ing someone that young — I need to step forward and be a man and be the best Chris Brown I can be." Brown continued to drop hints in the interview, while miles away, Rihanna recorded her piece of their puzzling relationship on Twitter.
Matthew McConaughey's a designer!
With a successful model wife whose designer line of handbags adorn the arms of many celebrities, actor Matthew McConaughey ("Magic Mike") is stepping up and showing off his new line of functional menswear that happens to be pretty stylish too. McConaughey's active and ready-to-wear lifestyle is behind the overall look of the performance-wear line called Just Keep Livin, which is available at Dillard's department stores and Dillard's online. Fabric features such as UV protection and waterproofing add distinction to the wardrobe which includes polo shirts, shorts and jeans. A portion of all sales will benefit McConaughey's Just Keep Livin Foundation co-founded with his wife Camila Alves.
Actor Liam Hemsworth ("Hunger Games") was reportedly ambushed by his brothers Chris Hemsworth ("Thor") and Luke in an intervention staged last month to separate the youngest Hemsworth from fiancée Miley Cyrus. The brothers Hemsworth reportedly do not want Cyrus to marry into the family and, according to Us Weekly, are desperate to get Liam to break off his engagement. Cyrus and Hemsworth have not been photographed together for some time, fueling rumors that their relationship had entered a cooling phase – even so far as to suggest that their wedding is on hold. However, Cyrus, who has yet to comment on these latest intervention rumors has reportedly alluded that her busy schedule and upcoming album has taken precedence over her relationship right now and that she and Hemsworth remain together despite their solo appearances.
Battery charges for Justin Bieber?
Pop star Justin Bieber may be one step closer to criminal charges after police who were on the scene after Bieber reportedly spat at his neighbor, recommended in their paperwork to the district attorney that he face prosecution, but no jail time. The L.A. Sheriff's Department are reportedly suggesting that Bieber be charged with battery and be ordered to possibly undergo anger management counselling for the threats he uttered following the incident. You'll remember that it was a fast car, a heavy foot and an indifferent Bieber who set off his neighbors after they complained of his erratic driving through their shared, gated Calabasas community.
Selena lays down her own lawsuit.
Selena Gomez ("Spring Breakers") is reportedly countersuing perfume company Adrenalina Inc. who last month filed a lawsuit against Gomez for reportedly failing to fulfill her spokesmodel contract, costing the company over $2 million in the process. Gomez alleges that Adrenalina's financial woes and potential resulting damage to her reputation were what forced her to sever ties with the company in the first place because they reportedly could "no longer afford to manufacture and market her perfume line," according to TMZ. Gomez's countersuit is asking for $5.2 million in previously promised representation fees.
Snoop Lion a former pimp?
Okay, we hate to bring up the past, but when rapper Snoop Dogg sang "Pimpin Ain't Easy" with R&B singer R. Kelly, were you really surprised that these were lyrics void of life experience? The rapper formerly known as Snoop Dogg (now known as Snoop Lion) and married father of three, has reportedly revealed to Rolling Stone magazine that he used to be a pretty successful pimp. Why? Well, it was his dream to become a pimp, not because of the money, but rather the fascination with the lifestyle. Snoop Lion reportedly ran his so-called "organization" using a bevy of high-priced women that he offered to several hi-profile clients, including pro athletes during his city-to-city tours. Watch out for the popular hip hop star when Snoop Lion returns to One Life to Live.
Lisa Bonet bites back!
Actress Lisa Bonet's ("Enemy Of The State," "The Cosby Show") inner mother cub is sorely riled up and she's doing something about it. Bonet has filed for unspecified damages in relation to a 2011 car accident that left her and her two children – who were four and five years old at the time – with actor Jason Momoa ("Bullet To The Head," "Game Of Thrones") injured and in hospital. According to TMZ, Bonet's lawsuit alleges that the driver of a Toyota Camry slammed into her Audi as she was driving in Burbank, CA.
