An Oscar-winner is wrongly accused, celebrity money woes, Clive Davis and Kelly Clarkson face off, and Fergie and Josh are having a baby! From country music's sad loss to a Jackson debut, the celebrities unload in this week's Celebrity News.
Rihanna is attacked! It's been an eventful weekend for singer Rihanna. With a fragrance and past beauty endorsements under her belt, the singer debuted her River Island collection at London Fashion week and should have went on to celebrate with her on-again boyfriend Chris Brown. But her euphoria at her latest accomplishment was short-lived, as the singer was injured when she was reportedly attacked by a heckler who threw an energy drink bottle at her just outside of the Box nightclub in London. According to the British newspaper The Daily Mail, the crazed fan was screaming at Rihanna about her boyfriend Chris Brown before pitching a bottle of Lucozade at her. Along with her bodyguard, Rihanna reportedly later ended up in the hospital with a scraped right knee.
Fergie and Josh Duhamel expecting. With his new movie Save Haven performing exceptionally well and a new baby on the way, actor Josh Duhamel ("Transformers") certainly has a lot to be happy about. Duhamel's wife, singer/actress/designer Stacy Ferguson, better known as Fergie and one-fourth of pop group the Black Eyed Peas is expecting the couple's first baby. Also sharing baby news is Mario Lopez ("The X-Factor," ex-Christian Ramirez, "B&B") and his wife Courtney Mazza. Lopez and Mazza currently have a toddler named Gia, but are expecting a little brother or sister to join her later this year.
Khloe Kardashian exits X-Factor. Well, at least she still has reality TV! Unconfirmed reports are circulating that Khloe Kardashian ("Khloe & Lamar") has reportedly been axed from the "X-Factor" while her co-host Mario Lopez ("Saved by the Bell") remains for next season. Kardashian's lack of hosting acumen and her failure to win over viewers is said to be the reason, despite her warm disposition and strong support from her family and Lopez. Reportedly, Kardashian was asked not to take hosting lessons to encourage her to just be herself. She has allegedly said that it left her unprepared. Kardashian is the third celebrity personality to depart the show; over the last few months judge Britney Spears was reportedly fired and LA Reid announced his decision to leave the reality singing competition.
Country world mourns Mindy McCready. Another gifted singer, gone too soon – Mindy McCready committed suicide on February 17. The singer was found dead of a self-inflicted gunshot would on the porch of her Heber Springs, Arkansas home – a porch that saw a similar tragedy when her boyfriend was discovered dead on January 13. His death is still under investigation. Reports suggest that McCready shot her dog before killing herself. McCready had recently been released from an in-patient rehab facility after spending two days there for self-admitted drinking issues. Her father reportedly added that she was back to abusing prescription drugs. However, upon her release McCready was said to be clean of any alcohol or drugs. Best known for her debut album and hit "Ten Thousand Angels," McCready was no stranger to trouble, drug overdoses, alcohol addiction, probation violations and family issues over the last several years, having been arrested multiple times and attempting suicide twice before. She even appeared on the reality show "Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew" in 2010. McCready was said to be working on a suicide awareness video right before her death. Prince Jackson's correspondent debut! Michael Jackson's 16-year-old son Prince is making quite the debut as the youngest special correspondent for "Entertainment Tonight." Jackson conducted his first sit down celebrity interview with some of the cast behind director Sam Raimi's Oz the Great and Powerful, James Franco (ex-Franco,"GH") and Zach Braff ("Scrubs"). Jackson is the eldest of the late pop star's three children. Promos leading up to Jackson's debut featured his practice runs and preparation for the interview with fellow "ET" correspondent Brooke Anderson. Jackson is seen sporting a mature grey suit as he tries out some questions. Not a bad first impression for a teenager who wants to become well-rounded as a "producer, director, screenwriter and actor."
Alec Baldwin under investigation. Actor Alec Baldwin's ("30 Rock") recent encounter with a photographer is currently being investigated as a hate crime. The often hot-tempered actor and soon-to-be-second-time father was reportedly involved in a heated altercation with New York Post photographer G.N. Miller, who claims Baldwin made racial remarks as he tried to take his picture in Manhattan. The New York Police Department's Hate Crimes Task force is on the case, which Baldwin has reportedly called in a statement, "one of the most outrageous things I've heard in my life" and "totally bogus." Both Baldwin and Miller filed separate police reports against each other about the incident.
Forest Whitaker accused of shoplifting. Forget about being wrong and strong. One New York Deli is eating crow and issuing several apologies after wrongly accusing Oscar-winner Forest Whitaker ("The Last King of Scotland") of shoplifting. Whitaker was reportedly frisked by a Market Deli employee who publicly pointed the finger at the actor for allegedly stealing from the establishment as he was perusing the aisles. The humiliating experience reportedly led Whitaker to sharply admonish the store manager to "change their behavior" and "treat the public in a fair and just manner," but he held off on calling the police. Milano Market management reportedly told TMZ that they regret the incident and feel the employee was misguided. Whitaker was in New York filming his latest movie "Black Nativity" which also stars Angela Bassett ("Rogue") and Jennifer Hudson ("Smash").
Kelly versus Clive. Music mogul Clive Davis kicked off the week with a revelation about his sexuality and a Twitter war with Kelly Clarkson. In his memoir, The Soundtrack of My Life, Davis reveals that he is bisexual – something that his friends and family apparently have known for years, but were quietly respecting Davis's desire to disclose in his own time. According to USA Today, Davis divulges that after his second divorce, he opened himself up to the possibility of a loving relationship and sexual intimacy with a man. "The adage is that you're either straight or gay or lying, but that's not my experience," he said. "To call me anything other than bisexual would be inaccurate." As the Chief Creative Officer of Sony Music Entertainment, Davis was also responsible for nurturing the careers of the late Whitney Houston, Alicia Keys and "American Idol" alum Kelly Clarkson among others. Davis and Clarkson's recollection of their working relationship played itself out on Twitter this week when it came out in his memoir that Davis accused Clarkson of bursting into hysterical sobbing when he demanded that the song "Since U Been Gone" be included on her album. Clarkson responded by condemning Davis for his bullying and faulty memory in an open letter on her WhoSay page as well as on Twitter. Davis stands by his comments.
Hey y'all, So I just heard Clive Davis is releasing a memoir and spreading false information about me and my music… say.ly/GLO5cY7
Celebrity financial woes? Not so surprisingly, several celebrities hit the news this week because of reported money matters gone out of control. According to documents obtained by TMZ, Singer Mary J. Blige is reportedly in tax delinquency after being handed a $901,769.65 tax lien. The singer has also been reportedly beset with numerous defaults on several bank loans in the amounts of $500,000 and $2.2 million.
Pamela Anderson ("Baywatch") has put her Malibu eco home up for sale, reportedly because she is severely cash-strapped. The property has five bedrooms and three bathrooms and is tagged with a selling price of $7.75 million.
Brendan Fraser ("The Mummy") reportedly can no longer afford the $900,000 in alimony and child support he is paying to his ex-wife and three children. According to the New York Post, movie roles have dried up for the actor who reportedly said in court last week, that he has trouble earning what he used to make in his movie franchise heyday due to developing medical problems.
As we reported in our past Celebrity News, Lindsay Lohan's ("The Canyons") finances continue to unravel. From frozen assets, to being sued, to borrowing money, to unpaid taxes and having to reportedly move back in with her mom, to living reportedly rent-free at a friend's New York apartment, Lohan's work schedule is mighty slim and her paychecks even leaner. So with no consistent acting work at the end of her rainbow, Lohan is reportedly being paid to endorse products. Once such product is Mr. Pink's Ginseng Energy Drink for which the actress was offered $200,000 to promote at an event in Dubai – all expenses paid! Yay work! Right? Wrong! Lohan reportedly turned down the gig allegedly because she is holding out for $300,000 more. Really?! According to Radar Online, Lohan is reportedly flat broke with zero credit. Sources say her criminal charges and probation terms may prevent her from even entering Dubai. Reportedly, Lohan doesn't trust her new lawyer Mark Heller to handle that problem. Lohan is also being charged with ruining an evening dress she borrowed – courtesy of a hookup by Charlie Sheen ("Anger Management"), according to Us Weekly – to wear for an amFAR event in New York on February 6. The designer dress, worth $1,750 was reportedly returned significantly shorter. The dress reportedly ripped at some point and Lohan is alleged to have used scissors to 'fix' it.
Kim Kardashian no longer keeping up? Family can do that to you – make you settle down, become domestic, and yearn for the quiet life. It appears that Kim Kardashian might just do that, after revealing to DuJour magazine that she plans to quit her show "Kourtney & Kim Take Miami" as well as the hit family reality TV series "Keeping Up With the Kardashians" after the ninth season. Kardashian is happily expecting her first child with boyfriend Kanye West later this year, despite being embroiled in an acrimonious split with her ex-husband Kris Humphries. She told DuJour, "My boyfriend has taught me a lot about privacy, I'm ready to be a little less open about some things, like my relationships. I'm realizing everyone doesn't need to know everything."
Together, splitsville and maybe dating? Demi Lovato ("The X-Factor") and her leg cast reportedly spent some quality Valentine's Day time with Wilmer Valderrama ("That 70s Show"), enjoying a romantic meal together, talking intensely, and gazing into each other's eyes. The singer who recently broke her leg in a domestic accident is reportedly giving love another chance with Valderrama, according to Us Weekly. Cupid first hit the couple back in 2010.
"Dancing With the Stars" ballroom pros Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Peta Murgatroyd have reportedly broken off their 10-month relationship, just in time for the new cast of the show to be announced later next month.
Britney Spears ("The X-Factor") is reportedly dating a non-celebrity and enjoying it. Rumors of the singer's return to the dating scene surfaced when Spears was photographed enjoying a day of golf with a man, reportedly named David. The two were also spotted enjoying Valentine's Day dinner at a sushi restaurant.
Lady Gaga adopts her wheelchair! It seems only fair that if people name their cars, they can name any set of wheels they like and Lady Gaga has done just that in choosing to affectionately call her wheelchair, Emma. The pop star will soon be going into surgery for her hip injury and will be confined to sit in 'Emma' during her recovery. As we reported in last week's Celebrity News, Lady Gaga was diagnosed with synovitis or a severe inflammation of the joints and had to cancel her remaining 25 U.S. Monster Ball tour dates to undergo surgery. It has since been discovered that the singer's chronic hip pain was further exacerbated by a labral tear in her right hip.
Justin Bieber murder plot. Do we really need to hear the audio people!? As we reported in a past Celebrity News, pop star Justin Bieber was the target of a murder plot by an obsessed fan and criminal named Dana Martin, who recruited another convict Mark Staake and Staake's nephew Tanner Ruane to kidnap and castrate the singer and his bodyguard at Bieber's sold out Madison Square Garden show. Martin was in prison serving time for rape and murder when he made the 'arrangements' and the audio of those conversations with Ruane were recently released. In them, Ruane and Martin can allegedly be heard discussing the details of the murder, including how to strangle the "pitbull" – the alleged code name for Bieber and also the reported $5,000 payment Ruane would receive. Ruane and Staake were arrested by border patrol agents after they made a wrong turn into Canada. Creepy stuff!
