' Phideaux Xavier has managed to gain more profile than most soap directors receive. As a director, he has also worked on All My Children
and the late, lamented Sunset Beach
. But it was with Passions
that he really got to show his stuff though, thanks to the bizarre imagination of James E. Reilly and a willingness to break the rules of daytime. To see him at work on the show's last great musical offering, Spellbinding
, visit this link
to all sorts of great behind the scenes features as well as interviews with Phideaux and the many other talents behind the camera.
Phideaux Xavier is also known for something else. Like many of the performers on the show, he is also an accomplished musician in his own right. He has put out six albums of adventurous art rock with collaborator Rich Hutchins. Each album is a unique concept album with its own style and themes. Most recently, he released the album Doomsday Afternoon
of which he has said: 'I am so happy (and relieved) to say that it is everything we had hoped it could be.' The album is available to order here.
