    Special Treatment

    Thursday, March 01 2007

Spike drags Jessica across the waterfront. She tries to tell him that she only wants to be with him and doesn't feel well. That's too bad because he's set her up with 'someone special' who asked for her by name. She doesn't want to do this anymore, but he doesn't care. He promises her that it will only be for a little while longer; he has a feeling this will change the rest of their lives. He brings her to a ratty motel room and collects the cash left on the table. Spike tells her he doesn't want any dead johns or calls from the hospital this time and then walks out. The peeper's voice comes from the bathroom. 'Be there in a minute babe. Just making myself beautiful for you,' they say before applying lipstick and pulling out the black lacy panties. Jessica gets undressed and under the covers, but when her client is about to come out, she pulls on her clothes and goes for the door. The john comes out before she can leave. Jessica sees them, dressed half as a man, half a woman, and begins to scream. 'Don't be afraid. I love you Jessica.'

    Fox's Shortcoming

    Thursday, February 22 2007

By the water, Jessica is feeling like a pathetic loser who no one will ever love. A masked figure comes at her and she begins screaming. Simone calls Paloma to come down while she runs to her friend’s aid. Noah and Paloma quickly appear and find Simone, but Jessica is nowhere to be seen. Simone tells them that Jessica was hooking again and she never should have left her alone. The peeper looks around a corner, brandishing a shiny new razor and saying that ‘it’s too late’, Jessica will never be the same now. Jessica’s three friends run around the waterfront shouting her name without luck. They start to wonder if she jumped in the water when they hear a thumping sound. It’s Jessica wearing red shoes and stumbling around. She falls into Noah’s arms and then onto the ground saying ‘it’s a man, it’s a woman, man woman, man woman...’ She notices her pretty red shoes and Simone wonders where they came from. They find cocaine on her, likely laced with something else, and rush her to the hospital as a maniacal laughter start up from an unseen spectator.

    Somebody Has Two Faces

    Wednesday, February 21 2007

In the street, Jessica wants to go and find Kay and tell her that she saw the Charity imposter. Spike isn’t about to let her do that and grabs hold of her arm while he draws his knife. He remembers that Julian made him promise to make Jessica keep her mouth shut. Jessica asks why he cares so much about Kay. He says that, after the things that Kay’s been up to, she’s a girl after his own heart. Jessica thinks that her sister deserves a man that doesn’t lie to her. He tries to convince her that telling Kay the truth now would only turn her against her even more. She should never ever meddle. He puts his knife away and Jessica tries to walk away. He grabs her and slaps her face. ‘You’re my wife, you do as I tell you.’ They don’t have any money so she needs to go back to work. She protests, but he says that it’s a good season for sailors. He takes her down to the wharf and hands her off to a longshoreman while he counts the money and licks his lips.

Simone goes down the wharf. She doesn’t think that she can go on without Rae. Standing on the edge, ready to jump, she pulls away and falls on her knees shouting Rae’s name. Suddenly, she hears Jessica screaming and rushes to help her. Finding her friend being attacked by a longshoreman, Simone clobbers him with a giant piece of wood and he runs off. Jessica tells her that was a mistake. Simone doesn’t even know why she bothers anymore; she can’t save anyone. She tells Jessica that Rae was murdered by Luis. Simone wishes that Jessica would wake up and change. ‘You’re so damn lucky, but you’re too damned stupid to know it,’ she says. Jessica says that she’s sorry, but Simone walks away from her. Simone can’t deal with this right now so she calls Paloma to come and get Jessica. Meanwhile, the peeper surprises Jessica and she begins screaming.

    Paloma Makes a Catch

    Wednesday, February 14 2007

Kay and Miguel arrive at the diner. Jessica is still drinking, but is now alone, although Julian left his meal behind. When they see the plate, they ask her who she was with. She tells them that she just wanted it to look like she wasn’t alone for Valentine’s. Miguel just wants to talk about what they saw tonight so that he can finally be a family with Kay and Marina. The idea of making her sister happy for life is less than appealing at the moment however. Miguel goes over his imposter theory again, but Jessica refuses to back him up. He starts accusing Jessica of being a liar, but Kay is tired of this. She doesn’t believe him. He grabs her when she tries to leave and begs her to trust him. All of a sudden, there is a phone call— Fox’s condition has changed and she has to run back to the hospital to see him. Miguel chases after her leaving Jessica to say ‘maybe now Kay will know what it feels like.’ Then she starts to feel bad and decides that she has to tell her sister the truth before this ruins her life. When she heads to the door, she bumps into Spike and tells him that she’s confused and wants to help her sister. He takes her outside and takes out his knife.

    Julian Works Overtime

    Tuesday, February 13 2007

At the crummy diner, Jessica keeps getting drunk while Miguel tries to talk her down. Suddenly, she spots the Charity impersonator and they both get excited. They chase her out of the diner until Miguel grabs a blond woman in the street. She turns out not to be Charity, fake or real. He needs Jessica to come with him and tell Kay what she saw before. She refuses to go to the Blue Note so he gives her money to wait in the diner while he runs off to get Kay. Alone, she starts drinking again so that she can live with herself. Fake Charity meanwhile runs off to call Julian.

Julian arrives at the diner and finds Jessica sitting alone. He sits beside her and tells her that he’s sorry about her mother; she must hate Kay so much. He asks her to imagine how wonderful her life could have been if her mother hadn’t left, but instead Kay is the one with all the happiness. ‘My my...your life would have been so different...’ He orders a meal and they share wine while he talks about how unfair things have been for her.

    Last Call

    Monday, February 12 2007

A drunken Jessica falls off the stool at a crummy little diner. The waitress refuses to serve her because she’s drunk, but hunky Miguel arrives and says that she’s with him. After batting his eyelashes at her, the waitress tells them to take a seat. Jessica wants him on a bed of lettuce and asks him why he isn’t out ‘doing Charity.’ They have coffee and Jessica wonders why he is still doing ‘push-push’ with Charity. He tells her that he’s not and she starts pouring booze into her coffee. He tells her that it’s hard to believe that Kay is her sister and she needs to learn from her mistakes. He goes on to explain that Kay caught him lying about kissing Charity and now Kay won’t trust him. Jessica curls up next to him and tells him to simplify things and then grabs him for a kiss. He tells her to stop coming onto him. She tells him that ‘there are women you love and women you make love to’; she’s really good, all the johns say so. Even so, he declines the offer. She can’t believe her sister has two men fighting over her while she just has Spike. He tries to convince her that she can fix her life and make it better, but she’s happy with a fantasy life. Remembering her story about impersonators, he starts to wonder if she was imagining things or saw something real. There isn’t any proof though and that’s what Miguel needs. Suddenly, across the room, Jessica spots the actress she saw taking off the Charity mask.
