    Mix-up

    Monday, March 05 2007

Miguel is following Kay around the hospital so that he can watch everything that she and Fox do. She asks him to go and walks into Fox's room with breakfast. It means the world to her that he's going through with the treatments. He admits that he's afraid, but it will be worth it if he can have more time with her and Maria. At the same time, he thinks to himself, it is so easy to be heroic when you are faking it.

In the corridor, Julian asks the nurse he bribed if she is still giving his son the placebo. She's worried that she might lose her job and wants to give the money back. He threatens her and she relents. She explains how she will pull it off, but worries that Eve might figure it out. He promises her that he will make sure that Eve's focus is somewhere else. Off his son and onto their son together, he tells himself. The nurse goes down to the pharmacist and gets Fox's drugs. She switches them and goes down the hall only to bump into Miguel and drop the box of meds. They're all mixed up now, but she decides that she'll gamble and just take one at random. When she goes into Fox's room, she starts up the drip and tells him that he'll feel the side effects soon. The stress of deception sends the nurse out for a smoke while Miguel watches through the glass, unable to believe that Fox is actually going through with it. Fox stares up at the IV as the drugs begin to fill him. He mischievously suggests that Kay get in bed with him, but suddenly becomes nauseous. Breaking out in a cold sweat, he starts to wonder if the nurse double-crossed Julian.

    Surprise for Eve

    Friday, March 02 2007

At the hospital, Kay is thrilled that Fox is going through with his treatments. Julian says that he's happy too and nods to the nurse he bought off to give his son a placebo. Miguel can't understand what's going on anymore. While he stands around trying to think, Eve tells him that he should go home. She walks in to Fox's room and Julian tells her that he couldn't let his son give up. She seems upset, so he tells her that he is still there for her despite everything. She remembers their son and she can't help wondering where he is. Kay and Julian leave Eve with Fox. He goes to get them some coffee when Miguel comes out of hiding and starts another one of his conspiracy theories. When he turns around, he bumps into the nurse and she drops her check from Julian. Miguel doesn't clue in and Julian returns, disturbed to see Miguel still stalking about. They shout at each other before Eve comes out and asks them to be quiet. Eve and Julian walk away to talk about the treatments and Kay goes back to her husband. Miguel can't believe his eyes when he sees Fox taking the treatment. Kay tells Miguel that he is only getting antibiotics today and the treatment starts tomorrow. She asks him to leave, but he refuses. 'How are you going to get out of the treatment tomorrow Fox?' he smugly smiles.

    Special Treatment

    Thursday, March 01 2007

In Fox's hospital room, Kay tells Fox that he has to go through with the treatments to prolong his life. The ever hovering Miguel steps in and says that he won't go through with them because he's not really sick. He starts accusing Fox of not being in his right mind. Fox says that the treatments are, at best, a long shot, so why take the risk? Miguel insists that the real reason he won't take the treatment is because he isn't sick at all. Kay tries to stand up for her husband by arguing that he's choosing quality of life over quantity. Fox repeats his arguments again and Miguel says that he's an idiot. Julian arrives and kicks the 'murdering psychopath' Miguel out of the room. Kay drags Miguel away and Julian whispers to his son that he has saved the day. He explains that he's gotten to the nurse and Fox will be getting a placebo from now on. Miguel returns. 'I knew it,' he declares as Kay looks on concerned. But Miguel doesn't know anything other than the fact that Julian and Fox were whispering while they were away. To Miguel's disappointment, Fox announces that he will go through with the treatments. Fox smiles and Miguel shakes his head.

    Trapped in the Closet

    Wednesday, February 28 2007

As Fox and Kay make love in bed, Miguel starts pulling his clothes off the floor so that he can dress in the closet. He’s finding it hard to watch how Kay can jump back into Fox’s arms so easily. She’s obviously not faking it either. He tries calling her on his cell to interrupt and, eventually, she answers. Miguel demands that she stop making love to Fox, but she tells him to call back later. He threatens that, if she doesn’t stop right now, he’ll come out and tell Fox everything. Kay tells Fox it’s the hospital calling and he needs to go back. He still refuses, but she guilts him into going back. After slipping on his pants, he goes to the bathroom to clean up. Kay gets in the closet with Miguel and he tells her to take him back to the hospital and see if he will really go through with the treatments

Kay drags Fox to the hospital. He’d rather not live at all than not be a whole man: Making love is the basis of their relationship. Kay says their relationship is about communication. ‘Sex is our favorite form of communication,’ Fox says, pulling her close while Miguel hovers in the background. They start to remember the first time they were together and Fox says that they need to communicate some more before he goes back into treatment. She talks him into going back into his room. Miguel smiles at her and she rolls her eyes. The nurse arrives to administer the treatment, but Fox refuses.

    Guess Who

    Tuesday, February 27 2007

Miguel and Kay are making out in her bed as Fox trudges up the steps eager to hold her again. They begin making love and Kay remembers that she’s married just as Fox walks in. He finds her in bed alone, startled to see him out of the hospital. He tell her that he can’t subject himself to the barbaric treatments of Dr. Eve. As he climbs into bed with her, we can see Miguel hiding on the floor biting his tongue. Kay gets up from bed and tries to talk Fox into going through with the treatments. Miguel crawls into the closet to hide while Fox says that he needs to be a real man for her. Right now, he needs her to forget everything else and make love to him. Miguel opens the door to peek as Fox takes off his shirt and reveals the catheter port in his chest. Kay starts to kiss him and Miguel gets confused. Kay tries to tell Fox that he’s not well enough for this, but he pulls her on top of him.

    Too Far for Fox

    Monday, February 26 2007

In Kay’s bedroom, Miguel sadly flips through a book of Kay and Maria photos while he wishes that he could prove that Fox is setting him up. Kay comes home and finds him in her room. He repeats all of his suspicions about Fox again and she still won’t believe him. She’s tired of this conversation and asks him to leave. He grabs her and starts shouting in her face, demanding that she look in his eyes and tell him if he is really the sort of man who would run someone down. She pushes him away and tells him to leave her alone. He won’t though and keeps begging her to say that she trusts him. She won’t though: She loves Fox, but he deserves better than a wife who would cheat on him on their wedding night. Miguel says that their love is so rare and intense that they can’t stop it. He put his arms around her. She keeps saying no but he pulls her into bed. As they tear off each other’s clothes, Fox arrives outside.

    Fox's Shortcoming

    Thursday, February 22 2007

Miguel watches through the window. The fact that Fox wants to refuse treatment is proof that he’s faking it. When Kay walks out, he grabs her. He tells her that her troubles are over now. Fox will scheme to find a way out fo his lies, or he’ll die. ‘If you’re mother could hear you now...’ Kay wonders, shaking her head. She tells him to actually do something useful and take Maria home so that she can stay with her husband. Going back into the room, she tells Fox that she will stay there all night with him. ‘I would do anything to make you feel better,’ she says. ‘Anything?’ Julian leaves to give them some privacy and Kay lays in bed next to Fox. She just wants to listen to the beat of his heart, but he can only think about impotency. ‘We have true love, that’s all we need,’ she says but he just stares blankly.

While Miguel is wheeling Maria out, he stops Eve to ask her if Fox is really ill. She insists that he is and tells him to stop harassing a dying man. He tells Maria that he’ll be back with mommy soon. Julian listens in. ‘Over my dead body Miguel. A Crane never shares his toys,’ he says to himself.
