Cole and Starr worry about the new school year, Tess reveals her plans for Natalie, and Cris finds a shocking ally...
At the Buchanan mansion, Ray tells Clint about his visit to see Langston and comments that Dorian appears to be trouble. Clint agrees and says, "Today's the day we'll be going in for the kill." Clint warns for Ray not to underestimate Dorian then says, "You know what to do with Langston, right?" When Bo appears, Clint quickly excuses Ray…
Suddenly, Matthew and Nora join them, and they all talk about Matthew's first day of school. Although Matthew is nervous, Cole joins them and says he'll be there, in school, to watch his back. Matthew snaps at everyone, for acting as though he's a baby, but seems to appreciate Cole's help. Instructing Nora not to cry, Matthew leaves with Bo and Cole.
Once alone, Nora thanks Clint for being so good to Matthew and says, "See, this is the man I really love," to which Clint reminds her, "This is the man I really am." After Clint walks out on Nora, Cole comes back to look for Matthew's wallet and admits to Nora that today will be hard for him - but even more so for Starr. Once Matthew says he found his wallet, the boys again leave with Bo. Later, Clint comforts Nora, who is sad that Matthew is growing up so fast.
John arrives at the mansion, tells Blair that Cris is missing then says he'll be going out of town for a while. Blair briefly talks about Starr's worries about school, tells John to be safe then kisses him goodbye.
From inside the living room, Dorian calls her lawyers and puts a rush on the adoption then asks them to look into Ray Montez, who claims he's Langston's uncle. Langston appears, having overheard the conversation, and snaps at Dorian for attacking her uncle! Dorian claims to be protecting Langston and assures her she'll do whatever she can to keep her safe!
When Starr comes downstairs, Blair listens as Starr voices her upset over going back to school then tells Starr how proud she is of the way she's handled the situation. Starr briefly touches base on all of the things that worry her about returning to school then shows Blair a text she received from Todd reading, "Good luck today. You'll always be shortman to me."
Knowing they are going to be late, Starr heads in to get Langston, but they are halted from leaving when Ray appears to see her! Langston and Ray immediately hug then Ray gives her a good luck necklace for the first day of school - one that belonged to her mother. Although Langston is touched, Blair and Dorian don't buy any of it!
After the kids leave for school, Dorian asks Blair for a moment alone with Ray - then says, "Cut the crap and tell me exactly what it is that you want from me - and from my daughter!"
In the jail in Colombia, Vanessa, Ray's wife, returns, tells Cris she's there for their conjugal visit then starts unbuttoning his shirt! However, Cris turns her down, asks her to help him find Ray, in order for her to have as many conjugal visits as she wants, then asks, "That's what you want, isn't it?" Vanessa admits it is then warns that if Cris doesn't help her find her husband, he'll be in prison forever with a murderer's name on his back! Vanessa agrees to call Antonio then leaves…
When Natalie wakes up in the secret room, she sees Jared standing outside the glass, who tells her, "I love her more than I could ever imagine." Suddenly, Natalie wakes up and realizes she was hearing Jared through the television, telling Tess how much he loves Natalie. Natalie rushes to the screen and says, "Tess, what the hell are you trying to do to us?"
Upstairs, Tess tries to comfort Jared, who has had no luck finding Natalie. "It's like she vanished off the face of the earth," Jared says, to which Tess believes her absence means she doesn't want to be found. Jared refuses to believe that Natalie is hiding from him and says, "Something else is going on here." Frustrated, Jared leaves.
Back in the basement, Natalie begins tearing the room apart - until Tess shows up with Jared's uneaten breakfast. "Here we go," Tess says. "Breakfast of losers!" Though Natalie warns Tess that Jared will not give up on her, and begs for Jessica to come out, Tess says, "Why do I bother going through all this trouble when I should just kill you right now!" Tess then lays out her new plan - to have Natalie be tortured by having to 'watch' Jared move on! "You get to watch Jared fall out of love with you," Tess says, "and in love with me!"
When Jared arrives at the station, he informs John, "It's about Natalie. I think she's been kidnapped!" After John asks Jared some common 'police questions', and reads the letter Natalie left Jared, John suggests that Natalie is not missing - but that she merely broke up with him! However, when Jared asks John to read the letter again, John agrees it's not Natalie's style and says he'll look into it. Suddenly, a cop interrupts and says they have a hit on Hesser - someone saw him using the name Mortimer Bern! Jared recognizes the name and tells John he saw the man in a Colombian prison, while he was there on business, sucking up to the warden! After Jared leaves, Bo arrives and John informs him that he has a lead on Cris - and that it all leads back to Hesser!
Outside the station, Jared makes a call to someone and says, "It's about Natalie. I need to see you."
