This week brought two huge reveals, which left one fanbase extremely happy and sad at the same time, and gave one character a new edge that could very well send him down the road to becoming Llanview's next villain. Let's break it down…
Mr. and Mrs. Todd Manning.
The love scenes between Todd and Blair have been hot, emotional and filled with so much passion, and just a few weeks ago I had asked for more. Thank you! And boy did viewers get more in Monday's episodes. Sure, we were forced to watch Todd and Blair agonize over him having to leave town in order to protect those he loved, but the added twist that the couple had secretly married was a shocker and a welcomed one at that. This isn't the first time this couple has tied the knot, so it'll be interesting to hear if they did it simply out of love or if there was a deeper reason during a time when the entire family's safety is at stake. On a side note, when looking at the close-up of Todd's wedding finger I couldn't help but notice the underlying mark. It's been told that the actor and his wife, Cari, had matching finger tattoos done when they got married. Looks as though the make-up department forgot to cover it up.
Natalie and Cutter's first time falls flat.
Natalie and Cutter have been dancing around their attraction since day one and ever since viewers have been teased and waiting patiently for them to give in to their sexually-frustrated passion. Finally, last week they had a hot scene, leading up to them taking the plunge toward having sex. However, viewers weren't given an all-access pass into what could have been an amazing 'first time'. We were left to visualize in our own minds what could have been. Not cool, as this is Daytime, not some random romance novel. Writers, please don't be afraid to leave some bedroom doors open in Llanview.
The other huge twist was seeing the strange symbol that has marked each and every threatening envelope delivered to Todd, as well as Victor's wrist, tattooed on the bottom of Jeffrey's foot. Jeffrey's been talking in overdrive about his mentor, the famous Carl Peterson, coming to Llanview to speak at the Man Of The Year gala. The jury is still out on whether or not Peterson is somehow tied to this secret group that's after Todd's family, or if Jeffrey is even aware of the significance behind his tattoo. Though I was banking on Jeffrey being a wholesome, honest character it appears as though that might not be the case. Unless he too has been brainwashed to wreak havoc on Llanview, getting a tattoo on the bottom of one's foot isn't usually the spot most would pick to show off (but rather hide) their ink.
Loser Of The Year.
Who the heck is on this committee that appointed Clint Buchanan the Man Of The Year? Are they out-of-towners or Llanview residents who haven't received a newspaper or listened to the news over the past few years? Clint has repeatedly lied and been the cause of a lot of drama, not to mention having a hand in a few DNA switches that hurt his family immensely. Sure, that was before the reboot and we have new writers, but seriously all of the fuss over what a great guy Clint has been is overrated. His latest actions have proved as much. Hell, Bo is better suited for the award. He's a far better man than Clint, a man who Clint repeatedly trashes for not acting in 'the Buchanan way'. The reference about how ashamed Asa would have been with Bo had he been alive didn't make sense. Bo has arrested Asa, his own father, in the past for breaking the law, so it shouldn't have been a shocker to Clint that Bo would do the same to his brother. And if Clint stopped to look at what an ass he's been he would have realized that Bo hadn't arrested him right off the bat and only did so after Clint (one) threatened to drive drunk and (two) pushed Bo's wife out of the way in order to get his keys. "I, Amy Mistretta, hereby grant you, Clint Buchanan, my Loser Of The Year award." Congratulations!
