One Life to Live: Best and Worst Storylines of 2008!

    Monday, December 22 2008

Jessica and Nash come to an end! (ABC)
Though we can't deny that One Life to Live brought us some awesome storylines in 2008, there were a few bad ones thrown in there along the way!

I know we all have our favorites, and our least favorites, so please take a moment to vote in my Best and Worst storyline polls of 2008! If I missed any in either category, I still want to hear your picks and encourage you to leave Soaps.com a comment below telling us exactly how you feel about those in question!

Without further ado, here are my One Life to Live picks for 2008's Best Storylines...

So, what storyline did I pick as the best for 2008? Although it made me the angriest, and I still haven't gotten over the loss, I have to go with the ending of Jessica and Nash's love story - and Nash's death. He helped save Jessica, and I just wish the show would have let her save him… If the show had to kill Nash off, they did a spectacular job. The emotion put into the scenes by both Forbes March (Nash) and Bree Williamson (Jessica) was amazing and had me crying all over my keyboard! In fact, I still get emotional when replaying the Video Clip! Also, there were many little storylines to stem off as a result of Nash's death, which turned out to be big in themselves, so again, this is my pick for Best Storyline of 2008!

With the best, come the worst, so here's my picks for some of the Worst Storylines of 2008...

    Allison Perkins' wasted return! (ABC)
The worst storyline in 2008, for me, has to go to the whole Allison Perkins return, secret - or fake secret, coma debacle mess that I'm still not sure what the purpose of it all was! While I'll admit, this storyline could have played a huge part in many lives of those in Llanview, seeing as the writers never followed through with it - and put Allison in a coma instead - we could have skipped right over it, and it wouldn't have made a difference in the outcome of anything going on in the current storylines today. Frankly, I think bringing back Margaret Cochran for one day last week proved more of a point than Allison's month long return in the beginning of the year.

Since there have been a number of little things that have occurred this past year, I wanted to touch base on those as well…

Llanview has had its fair share of returns and newcomers in 2008, but I think most fans will agree with me on who my Favorite Return of 08 was. He's a super hottie, with a comical sense of humor that drives everyone to laughter! Though David Vickers (Tuc Watkins) has used the 'revolving door' into town so many times, his return in May, even though he recently left last December, was a real treat for longtime and new viewers alike!

Having been a huge fan of "Santa Barbara," and its star A Martinez, I was overjoyed when the show brought us Newcomer Ray Montez to Llanview! While his part hasn't kept him onscreen as much as I would have liked, I'm hoping we'll see more of this amazing soap opera veteran in the year to come!

We, as fans, have seen many actors leave the show throughout the year, and I'm sure you can guess who I've picked as the Most Upsetting Exit of 2008… Forbes March (Nash Brennan). It took fans a long time to get over Nash's involvement in the breakup of Jessica and Antonio, but many eventually fell in love with his place in Jessica's life. However, during the last couple of months that Nash was on air, I felt a huge letdown from the show and am still grieving the loss of Nash - a character who very well could have had a permanent place in Llanview for many years to come. However, we win some and we lose some, but we keep watching - the joy of being a soap fan!

There you have it, some of my Best and Worst of 2008! I thoroughly enjoyed this past year and look forward to many more to come! Please be sure to leave me your thoughts below, and from everyone at Soaps.com… Have a safe and happy Holiday Season!

    See you in 2009!

My favorite storyline of 2008 was Nash and Jess's love story ending with his death. Although I loved Nash and miss him a lot, the storyline was so powerful. Also, it brought Tess back out, which was a huge bonus for me!

My least favorite storyline was the Mendorra storyline. I could barely even watch any of those scenes!

My favorite return was obviously Margaret. Even though she only came back for a few episodes in January and one episode last week, I was still so excited to see her! She is my favorite, so any time I get to see her is great for me!

My favorite newcomer is Brody. I hated him at first, but now I'm loving him. I can't believe that I'm going to say this, but I think he has potential to be the "new Nash".

I agree with you Amy that Allison's return was a waste. I am a fan of her, but she didn't change anything. Like you said, Margaret's one episode appearence last week had more meaning to it than Allison's month long return.

Well, 2008 was a good year for OLTL. I hope 2009 will be even better!

P.S. Hopefully in 2009, Margaret will make some long-term appearences, if you know what I mean. LOL

I dislike so many storylines that it is hard for me to pin point one in particular. I am tossed, but if I had to pick one it would have to be the Mendorra storyline and 1968 storyline. I don't think OLTL has had such a good year. I am hoping 2009 brings us better storylines.

I don't have one that I liked. These storylines dragged for so long that even if I liked one, it just dragged.

My favorite "One Life" storyline of '08...the aftermath of the birth and (alleged) death of Starr and Cole's baby. I feel for them completely. I hope, when '09 starts, they realize Hope is staring the right in their faces.

Now, my not-so-favorite storyline of '08...the rapist (Todd) falling in love with the victim (Marty). I thought the whole things was weird. It's just Todd trying to use Marty's amnesia to his sick advantage. I hope he gets what he deserves.

My favorite sl was Nash dying. Never liked the character, so I was glad he was killed off.

My least favorite sl was the Todd/Marty so-called romance. IF they had not had sex, I could have taken it. But that ruined it for me.

I wish Nash was back on the show. I liked the love Jessica and Nash shared and they made a really nice couple. I wish they could of been happy.....that would be the only couple there....hahaha

I actually like Jess/Bess/Tess and Brody in St Anne!

One of my favorite storylines that wasn't listed was, "Anything involving David Vickers and David "The Dog" Vickers!" His character is a bright spot in any sl! His interaction with Addy was priceless and coming back as a celibate monk will get Dorian's knickers in a twist!

The worst storyline [for me] was anything involving Sarah, period, end of bad storyline, hooray!

See you on the flip side of 2008!

My favorite storyline was definately Marty's return..although, it is unfortunate that Todd got his hands on he again! I'm just glad that Susan Haskell is back on OLTL . All the scenes between Trevor and Susan were done so well and the chemistry between these two actors is amazing, but I don't want to see them as a couple. But I also don't want to see Marty spiral into and evil revenge seeking witch. Oh well, I guess we will just have to wait and see what happens.

My favorite story line was Rex and Gigi getting together and him getting shot and that whole break up with that snob Adriana. I love that him and Gigi got together and that she finally told the truth about Shane to him and everybody else.

My least favorite story line was when they had that game show with Rex and Shane.

My favortie comeback in 08 was Marty Saybrook and when she was living with Todd and how she feel in love with him.

My favorite newcomer was Brody even though I hate what he did to Rex, he was a good actor.

Favorite of 08: Rex and Gigi reunion

Least Favorite of 08: Mendorra followed by Cris/Vanessa. Jess/Tess/Bess DID storyline is very close to making this list.
