One Life to Live's very own Sean Ringgold aka Shaun. (Right-hand man, bodyguard of Vincent Jones)
It's Tuesday morning, 11:00am. I settle in at my desk, pick up the phone and prepare for my interview with Sean Ringgold. After two rings, a deep male voice picks up...
"Hi Sean, it's Amy, news writer for Soaps.com."
From Sean's end, I get a wonderful greeting, very warm and welcoming to my call. After a few minutes of talking shop, I start off the interview with a little insight into the man behind Sean the star.
"What do you like to do in your free time?"
"I do a lot of motivational speaking for kids. I'm really into reading, a big fan of self-help books. I enjoy snowboarding, surfing, skydiving, mixed martial arts, watching sports, my favorite team being the New York Knicks."
A man of many talents, I'm thoroughly impressed by the variety of Sean's interests.
"Can you give the fans an idea of what a normal day on the set of One Life to Live entails for you?"
"The first thing I do is say hello to everyone as I walk through the studio. Tobias Truvillion (Vincent Jones) and I get together and go through our script, catch some breakfast, talk character. Next, we go to rehearsal on the floor, then off to makeup - I always save my grand performance until we go to set. So many things, such as facial expressions, are really best when done naturally, unexpectedly. It makes the scene more 'real' for the viewers."
I have to admit, fans, I love hearing the answer to that question. The actors and actresses always make me feel as though I'm walking through all the motions with them. I can just picture myself sitting on the sidelines, watching Sean and Tobias doing their thing. They work great together!
Speaking of the other players of One Life to Live, I ask, "Is there any One Life to Live cast mate who you have predominantly enjoyed working with?"
"Of course, Tobias Truvillion (Vincent Jones), he's first and foremost my friend. I enjoy scenes with David Fumero (Cristian Vega), Trevor St, John (Todd Manning) is a lot of fun and I really respect Tika Sumpter (Layla Williamson) and Renee Goldsberry (Evangeline Williamson).
Great list of actors, I think to myself, some of favorites. Now for the question that every actor has thought about at one time or another during their career...
"If there were one person you could star opposite, anyone, who would it be?" I ask.
"If I had to pick someone to star opposite from myself," Sean says. "I'd have to say Gabrielle Union."
Having had prior experience traveling with A and B lists celebrities and top-notch musicians, working security for stars such as Ludacris and L. L. Cool J has given Sean the experience and deep understanding of the business and how it works. Because of that knowledge, he has chosen to take a more hands-on approach with his own career...
"I don't take anything for granted and am thankful for everything I have," Sean comments.
Okay, fans, you may not know this, but Sean is also a professional motorcycle stuntman. Being a motorcycle enthusiast myself, I can tell you that there's nothing like the rush and freedom of being on a bike, so I have to ask...
"Is there one stunt that you executed that predominately stands out from the rest?"
"I did a high speed wheelie at 150 mph - It was an incredible rush," Sean replies.
Wow! I think to myself, flattening down my hair just imagining it... That would be a rush!
"Can you tell your fans something about yourself that they would never guess?" I proceed.
"I love to listen to GUN N' ROSES, especially when I'm working out, along with Metallica, Gipsy Kings, the kind of music that gets you going."
Fast motorcycles, Rock N' Roll, I tell Sean that my husband would have a blast hanging out with him for the day. To be honest, fans, I'd insist on tagging along, too!
When asked what Sean's thoughts were on Soaps.com, he replied, "The site is very well put together, very nice!"
I have to tell you fans, I immensely enjoyed talking to Sean. He's a great guy with a big heart, one of the good guys who don't mind taking time out to talk to the press, sharing his thoughts with the fans. I truly hope to see more of Sean's character on One Life to Live! And to you, Sean, I wish you the very best with your career and look forward to seeing more of your work!
