One Life to Live: In Memory of Nash Brennan…

    Monday, June 09 2008

    Forbes as Nash (Soaps.com)
Last Thursday Llanview lost one of its most popular residents, and at the same time One Life to Live fans everywhere became overwhelmed with grief by the death of Nash Brennan (Forbes March).

Sound a bit too melodramatic? Maybe, but I couldn’t ignore all of the outpouring posts left under the daily recap surrounding Nash’s death or left in our messages boards without giving the character, and the amazing actor who played him, a proper send off.

Although I found out, back on April 29, 2008, that Forbes March would be leaving his role, I’ll admit, there hasn’t been an episode in daytime that has brought me to my knees and had me reaching for a ton of tissues like Nash’s death. All I can say is I’m glad that I don’t have to look at the keys on my keyboard in order to type or I never would have been able to bring you all the recap for that episode. I was literally bawling my head off – as were many fans around the world who watched Nash take his final breath after tracing a heart shape on Jessica's (Bree Williamson) palm.

Since coming to the show in July of 2005, Nash has had to fight for the affection of fans, especially Jessica/Antonio fans. However, after their affair broke up that married, fans didn’t become totally sold on the Jessica/Nash union until Jessica’s near death. It was then that the love between Nash and Jessica became ‘real’ and nothing about her alter Tess.

While I love all the actors on the show and feel their pain when they move on and leave their beloved characters behind, it killed me to have to mark ‘past’ next to Nash’s/Forbes’ name in his profile under our One Life to Live Cast List. But, this is daytime after all, and as fans we’ve been forced to deal with these types of disappointments in the past and will continue to do so in the future.

I know I can speak for a lot of fans when I say… Forbes, we are going to miss you dearly and have enjoyed watching you for the last three years. We wish you the very best and hope to see you in daytime again very soon! Speaking of which, there have been some rumors circulating the net claiming that Forbes has been spotted in the General Hospital studios. However, at this time, there has been no word on a possible west coast role for the actor.

To close out Soaps.com’s In Memory, I have to give props to Bree Williamson (Jessica) for her fabulous performance. Her tears, like ours, were real, and Bree’s scenes were definitely Emmy deserving!

Farewell, Forbes, we’ll miss you... To voice your opinion on Nash's death, please be sure to vote in this week's One Life to Live Poll!

OLTL really lost a great character and an exceptional actor. Forbes March brought so much to the role of Nash Brennan - I cried through last weeks episodes like so many other OLTL fans. The last scenes were brilliant and I hope another show snaps him up and has him back on screen soon. Also, Bree Williamson really brought pain and anguish to life during her scenes and I hope she stays front and center in the storyline.

In my 30 plus years of watching soaps I have never felt compelled to comment on the firing of an actor and the subsequent killing of his or her character. This one has cut me to the core. Its left me angry, sad, heartbroken, I could go on and on. The character of Nash was never developed there was so much back story never explored. One article explained his death as real life. Soaps are fantasy. How many alien stories have there been or back to the past etc? I wish Mr March much success in his future, but he is already missed by me.

What in the hell is going on with Todd and Starr's relationship?!! I can't bring myself to even watch when she's on the tube. I watched her grow from a little girl to a young lady, never was a fan of her smart mouth, but loved the relationship between her and her father. He only reacted the way any normal human being would after catching their daughter having sex!! also, why in the hell are they trying to take Sam away from him when he just got him back?!! This is some hot mess!! OLTL better fix this mess fast!!!!!

Why sre only positive comments allowed? If I post something negative --- as I did regarding this article --- it seems to disappear by the next day. This is totally unfair. Not every viewer agrees with the editors' assessment of every actor and character.

    Hi cynical bill,

We welcome both positive and negetive comments, as both are needed for a good debate. However, when comments are made regarding the actors themselves, that we do not allow - as they visit our website. I remember your post containing a negetive comment regarding Bree (Jessica).

    Thank you!

It would be great to see a Nash twin fall out of the sky and drop into Llanview to form a relationship with Jessica. Please convince him to return. I just loved him. I was also very moved and impressed by Jessica's performance. She has really shown what type of an actor she is since the DID came into play. She deserves a daytime emmy if you ask me.

p.s. - I am so glad Tina is returning and hope that she is here to stay.

Recently the writers made Nash a boring character, but I still liked him with Jessica. I was sad to see them kill him off. I understand they had to make room in the budget for all the returning characters. The vast majority of these characters are not here to stay. Why not have Nash leave town, ashamed of having lost the vineyard? That leaves the door open for him to return having made a pile of money in Europe. I don't think Jessica should be paired with anyone else in the near future.
