Past: Reverend at St. James Church
When anyone in Llanview had troubles, they always went to Andrew Carpenter, who was a man of fairness and a friend to many. For many years, he married most of the couples in town and had advice for even those who possessed different religions and beliefs.
Andrew's family was filled with troubles of its own. It wasn't till later years when he and his father, Sloan, put their differences aside and came together during Andrew's brother's death, who died from aids. While comforting Megan Gordon, who was dying of Lupus, Andrew developed feelings for her but respected hers toward Jake - even on her deathbed.
While befriending a young homosexual boy, Marty Saybrooke started a rumor that Andrew was gay and created quite a ruckus in Llanview. However, when the truth came out, Andrew forgave Marty and even found himself attracted to her later, which led to nothing more than a flirtation.
Andrew fell in love with and married Cassie Callison. While the two shared a child, Andrew watched as Cassie slipped away and fell into the arms of Kevin Buchanan. Although Andrew never did find love again, he did spend time with Téa Delgado, which fumed his rival Todd Manning.
Although we've only seen Andrew off and on throughout the years, he made a brief return to Llanview in December 2008, as well as on October 30, 2009 to help Dorian Lord at the same sex marriage rally.

At the mansion, everyone listens as Andrew says, "I'm afraid I have some bad news." Dorian starts crying and screaming, "Where's Cassie! What's happened to her?" Suddenly, Cassie enters the room and rushes into Dorian's arms. Though Dorian is happy that all of her girls are there, Cassie cries, "There's been a death." Dorian thinks it's Langston, but Cassie breaks the news that it's Dorian's sister. Blair immediately thinks it's Addie, but Cassie tells Kelly she's sorry, it's Melinda. Kelly cries for her mother, who Cassie explains died last night of a heartache. Over on the couch, Dorian confesses to Adriana that Melinda didn't have a heart condition - she received medical reports every month. Across the room, Blair and Starr can't get a hold of Langston and watch as Kelly beats herself up to Cassie, Dorian, Adriana and Andrew about the last time she talked to her mother.
Langston arrives at the mansion and rushes into Dorian's arms, crying, "I should have been here." As Dorian nods toward Langston's new cousin, Kelly, Blair approaches Kelly and tries to comfort her, saying, "You did right by your mother." Kelly accepts Blair's hug while Dorian warns Andrew that Mitch was behind Melinda's death - and they all have to be on their guard!
Kelly enters the mansion, and though there's no love-loss between her and Blair, she's happy to see Dorian. Dorian wonders where Adriana is, and Kelly replies, "I'm afraid I have some bad news." Suddenly, Adriana appears, on crutches, and says she hurt herself during the flight. Dorian leads her girls into the living room and demands that Blair and Kelly, who are bickering, hug it out. They give Dorian an emotionless hug then Starr arrives, greets her cousins and tells Dorian that Langston is going to be late. Suddenly, Andrew enters the room, and Dorian wonders where Cassie is. "I'm afraid I have some bad news," Andrew says.
