    In his room, Destiny's screams, "Matthew!" Nora and Bo rush in and see Matthew's eyes opened. The doctor comes in, examines Matthew and says, "There's reason to hope." Shaun appears and hears the news. The doctor warns Matthew could improve or this could be as far as it goes. Later, Destiny agrees to join Shaun for ice cream but declines any herself due to her strange stomach bug.

    Outside of Matthew's room, Dani and Starr fear for their friend. They look in and see Destiny at Matthew's bedside. Starr admits Destiny got sick earlier. She thought it was morning sickness until Destiny said they used protection. Dani's relieved to hear it. Inside, Destiny admits to Matthew that she can't deal with Dani and Starr right now, especially now that they know they slept together. "Nobody needs to know we didn't actually use protection," Destiny states and rants about Starr thinking she was pregnant. That would never happen to them. Destiny promises never to give up on him. Matthew opens his eyes.

    Over in Matthew's room, Nora refuses to entertain the thought of donating Matthew's heart to Clint. She thinks Clint found out about Matthew and wants his heart. Bo isn't sure what Clint knows, but they need to do what's right for Matthew. "I'm not sacrificing Matthew for Clint," Nora snaps. Bo reminds her how much Matthew looked up to Clint, who was going to sacrifice himself for their son. After Nora leaves, Viki appears.

    Matthew's doctor joins Nora and Bo in his hospital room. The latest tests show there's very little hope that Matthew will improve. Destiny listens from the doorway, as the doctor says there's nothing more they can do for him. Bo and Nora either have to move Matthew to a special care facility or take him off life support. Destiny storms in and cries, "You can't let Matthew die." Nora assures Destiny they won't then shoos her out of the room. The doctor reminds Bo and Nora there's a need for Matthew's B- organs. Nora refuses to sacrifice her son. The doctor wonders how Bo feels. Bo reminds Nora that Matthew isn't there anymore. "He's coming back to us," Nora cries. Bo nods his head in agreement. Later, Destiny begs for Matthew to wake up. She can't lose him after what happened in his bed. Starr appears and admits she overheard Destiny. Starr's happy that Matthew found the right girl.

    Rex finds Bo and Nora outside Matthew's room. Nora leaves them alone but urges Bo to talk to Rex, who knows all about fighting for his son. Bo explains how Nora won't accept what's going on with Matthew. Over talk of Clint, Rex catches Bo up on his setback. Clint's at the top of the list for a B- heart donor. Bo admits Matthew's blood type is B-.

    Nora joins Starr and Destiny in Matthew's room. She asks the girls to tell people to pray for Matthew. That's what he needs right now. Nora promises Matthew, "As long as I have a heartbeat, you will too."

    At the hospital, Dani and Destiny try to hear what the doctor's telling Bo and Nora, which is that Matthew's nearly brain dead. Nate appears and tries to comfort Destiny, who cries about how bad things are. Nearby, Bo begs the doctor not to give up on Matthew. He's a survivor. The doctor agrees to do one more test to confirm Matthew's lack of brain activity. As they take Matthew away, Destiny rushes to Matthew and overhears the doctor tell a nurse that she doesn't blame Matthew's parents for grasping at straws. How does one deal with the fact their child is never coming back? Later, Destiny shares what she heard with Nate. Matthew's not coming back. Dani joins them and urges Nate to go to work. She'll take care of Destiny. Nate's done enough. He thinks back to punching Matthew and says, "I'm so sorry."

    Nora sits in Matthew's room, looking at photos of her son. She tapes up one of her, Bo and Matthew. Viki appears and holds Nora close. Later, Matthew's brought in. The doctor tells Bo and Nora the test showed more brain activity than they first thought. However, there's a minimal chance that Matthew will recover.

    Down the hall, Bo and Nora hear Matthew's surgery didn't go well. Destiny's asked to wait around the corner. Though the doctor cleared up the bleeding, Matthew's brain could continue to swell. If it does, there's nothing more she can do. Matthew's wheeled back from surgery. Destiny breaks down. Dani appears and tries comforting Destiny. Bo and Nora beg Matthew to pull through this. His machines go off. Later, Nora and Bo are told that Matthew's heart is beating, but he has no brain activity. Down the hall, Nate appears and joins Dani and Destiny.
