In Rex's office at Buchanan Enterprises, Cutter tells Rex, "Gigi's alive." Rex doesn't believe him. Cutter taunts Rex then leaves. Rex repeats Gigi's message, "Don't give up," then stops Cutter in the hallway. Before Cutter will give Gigi to Rex, he orders him to sign everything over to him, not Clint. Rex explains how Clint's having legal papers drawn up. Cutter reminds Rex he hasn't signed anything yet and urges him not to if he wants to see Gigi again. Cutter shows Rex the photo on his cell. Rex calls Cutter sick then grabs him. The men engage in a fistfight. Cutter's cell falls to the floor. The secretary calls the police. Bo arrives soon after and pulls the men apart. Rex tells Bo what Cutter said. Bo throws Cutter out, who tells Rex, "You're going to regret this." After Cutter leaves, Bo's proud to hear Rex is giving everything back to Clint, who was decent to Rex in return. Rex admits he almost believed Cutter, and that Gigi was alive, until he demanded money. Rex just wanted Gigi to be alive.
Aubrey is dragged into Rex's office at B.E. by security. She's number two, Rex being number one, on the list of undesirables not allowed in the building, created by Clint before Rex took over. Rex approves Aubrey's presence and dismisses security. When she asks why he's packing, Rex fills her in on Cutter's latest scam. Clint turned Cutter and his fake document down. Rex is walking away from it all and says, "Anything that puts up a wall around my family, I don't want it." Aubrey's impressed and surprised Clint asked him and Shane to stay at the mansion. Over talk of the engagement party, which falls on Halloween, they decide on a costume party. Rex assures Aubrey Clint won't have a problem paying her for planning Natalie's engagement party. On her way out, Aubrey runs into Cutter in the hallway. Hasn't Cutter already done enough? He accuses her of setting her sights on Rex then enters his office. Rex wants nothing from Cutter. "Even Gigi?" Cutter asks. "What if I told you I could bring her back?"
Roxy finds Rex behind Clint's desk at Buchanan Enterprises. She warns Rex not to get too used to it. He's going to have to give it all back. She explains about the document that Echo forged his signature on. She warns Clint could be on his way to kicking him out as they speak. Rex ushers Roxy out, takes a call from Clint and agrees to meet him.
Rex arrives at Llanfair. Clint shows him the document Cutter texted him. Did Rex sign it? Rex claims it doesn't matter if he did. Rex is ready to give it all back. He admits his need for revenge almost destroyed him. "I should've never bargained with Gigi's heart," Rex says. He wants to put things back to the way they were. Rex gets the okay from Viki to move back into the carriage house then turns to leave. Clint stops him. He wants his son and grandson to continue living in Asa's house, free of charge. Viki tears up as Clint and Rex shake hands. After Rex leaves, Viki hugs Clint. Viki cries about the great gesture Clint just showed Rex. He just took an enormous step toward his son.
When Rex doesn't find Blair at Capricorn, Aubrey apologizes for ratting Rex out to Bo. She explains Cutter's involvement and how they found the gun. Aubrey even dumped Cutter because of Rex. She admits Cutter wanted her to make the moves on Rex. She couldn't do it. Aubrey gave up Cutter in an attempt to go straight, especially after what happened with Joey. Talk turns to Gigi. Aubrey comforts Rex, who blames himself for not being there for Shane. Rex wants to distract Shane and hopes he'll help him throw Natalie and Brody an engagement party. He worries Echo and Roxy's interference will ruin it. Aubrey offers to help but assumes Rex wouldn’t trust a former con-artist. Rex admits he was one too until Bo came along. Rex accepts Aubrey's help but insists on paying her. Aubrey agrees. Nearby, Jessica fills Ford in on what Tina said about the paper. She knows Victor hated John. Maybe he was keeping Liam's paternity from him. "Like you're doing?" Ford asks and wonders if she's going to tell John.
Natalie visits with Rex at the Buchanan Mansion. Over talk of Shane, Rex thinks Gigi's messages meant that he needs to make Shane his priority. Later, Roxy barges in, screaming for Echo to appear. They need to talk about the document! "What document," Rex asks from the living room doorway. Roxy tries to leave. Rex stops her. After she convinces Rex she only wanted Echo to sign a release form, for when she dyes her hair, he brings up Natalie and Brody's engagement. Roxy's furious. Natalie doesn't love Brody. She loves John, and he loves Natalie. John told Roxy as much the other night. Roxy wants to tell Natalie. Rex stops her and demands that Roxy let Natalie be happy with Brody. That's what Natalie wants.
At the Buchanan Mansion, Echo apologizes to Rex for thinking he was guilty. Rex wonders why Echo didn't just get rid of the gun. She thinks back to Kim's blackmail and signing the document. Just as Echo starts to confess, Shane appears. Once Echo leaves, Rex asks why Shane didn't tell him what he had done to Jack the night of Victor's murder. It's not like Shane killed Victor. "No," Shane replies. "But I thought you did." They promise to be honest from here on out. Rex also knows it's time to accept that Gigi is dead.
Jack tries to leave the cemetery. Shane won't let him and demands Jack tell him what he did to Gigi. Jack refuses and taunts, "I bet that gun isn't even loaded." Shane fires the gun. Jack thinks he's shot, but the dampness isn't blood. He peed his pants. Just as Jack starts to fess up, Rex and Bo appear. Rex is able to get Shane to drop the gun. Bo picks it up, as Shane falls into Rex's arms.
At the station, over talk of Victor's murder Brody admits if someone had kept him from his kids he would have… Natalie wonders if Brody would have killed over it. She brings up the lack of evidence against Todd and wonders who else could've killed Victor. Brody thinks back to Vimal asking if he killed Victor. Bo and Rex appear with Shane and Jack. Bo hands the gun over to Brody for testing. It could be the murder weapon. After Bo heads into his office, Jack and Brody bicker. Jack insists all cops are corrupt. Inside Bo's office, Shane confesses... He took the gun the night of Victor's murder. Shane wanted to make Victor and Jack pay. He knocked Jack out and was standing over Jack with the gun. "I couldn't do it," Shane explains and denies killing Victor. He got worried when Jack wouldn't wake up and dropped him off at the hospital. "He killed my mom, and I save his life," Shane says. He put the gun back in the safe and went to bed. Bo recalls the weapon had been fired. Shane took a practice shot before he went to Jack's. Outside, John arrives and gets brought up to speed. The results from the gun are in. Natalie opens Bo's door and tells everyone the gun wasn't used to kill Victor. Bo scolds Jack for his lies and orders Brody to take him home. Brody listens as Bo tells John, "We're back to square one. Anybody could've done it."
