Are Nick & Phyllis really Legally married?????

Postby yrnut » Thu May 01, 2008 8:43 pm

Ok, Nick and Phyllis was married in New Mexico the first time but we all know that it wasn't legal because of divorce/remarriage restrictions in Wisconsin. Then 1 year ago they married for "real" in Genoa City, but as soon as the ceremony was over Phyllis was arrested and taken to jail. Did they ever SIGN the marriage liscense????? In all the confusion after the ceremony and arrest it's possible that no one thought of it. Would this make their marriage invalid????

the first marriage in New Mexico is very much legal...if it wasn't alot of marriages that are performed in Vegas for the same reason aren't legal either!!

The second marriage is very much legal, but was totally unnecessary..as they were legally married...it was so they could be married in front of their family and friends...

If I remember right, the New Mexico marriage was only symbolic because there was a 6 month restriction on remarriage in Wisconsin. Yes they got married in New Mexico but without a marriage liscense. They had to wait the 6 month period and then get legally married in Wisconsin.

They got married in NM because they could get a marriage license there and therefore is recognized everywhere else.

If memory serves the reason the went to New MExico was because of the six month waiting period in Wisconsin. For some reason I can not remember quite what it was their New Mexico marrige was not legal, hence the need for the second marrige. A marrige that almost didn't happen because Nick found out about Phyllis blackmailing Brad. Phyllis was worried for a while that Nick had changed his mind, but he came through.
