Why is Nick on crutches?

Is this some type of plot line, or did he really hurt/injure himself or have surgery?

In REAL life, Josh Morrow had knee surgery. The writers worked it into the plot.

Well, thanks. I thought maybe it was Phyllis's turn to throw HIM up against a wall to make mad simulated sex to him & he landed wrong. :D
