Oh my, I am so full I had to take a nap. The chicken and the soup ... delish; I keep going back for more.
I'm still holding good thoughts for our friends affected by Harvey and Irma. Stay safe, and bless you all. i found the candles we used to put in the window for our missing friends. I hope they find their way back to us.

Hey Grammy, I am still worried about some of my friends & family in Florida especially but have heard something from most of them now. Naples took a very hard hit. The friend there is safe but does not know yet if he has a home left. I
I made a mistake. I told you to eat first. Now you are too drowzy to play cards. I guess I will have to play hearts & play all 4 hands. I am no longer sharp enough to remember all the tricks playing bridge by myself. Guess I will have to play a few hands online.

Good idea about candles in the window.

Dobrai Denh! Habby Fan, if you are out there, please check in. Hot Sumatran coffee with cream & Bailey's is here. Remember when we had to order Baileys by the case (and hide a few bottles)? I have a dish of those little cakes with orange or raspberry jelly inside, sealed in with chocolate. Beautiful day here. Lots of fall yellow daisy looking flowers in bloom making everything look so cheerful.

Hi Kritters!!

Just checking in, getting ready to batten down the hatches here for a bit of hurricane weather. Hopefully it won't be too bad, as it seems to be just a side swipe ATM.

Thanks for the goodies Blue, they sound yummy...I also brought some Baileys.

I thought we were done worrying about hurricanesfor this year, with two really major ones hitting one after another. Not so! Maria is hitting Puerto Rico as we speak, with at least 150 mph winds, probably the worst one in nearly a century. It is expected to pass east of FL & NC. Hope it does not veer west. Florida has had enough & NC still has not recovered from Hurricane Matthew a couple of years back.

Living on a tropical or sub-tropical island or coastline can be delightful but the storms can be vicious. So many really destructive storms this year, 2 big earthquakes in Mexico & my husband said there was a visible explosion on the sun right before all this stuff started to happen. Not to mention the nuclear threat that is becoming more real. We know that Russia & China are not going to let anyone make a nuclear strike on North Korea b/c it would affect them too. I think we are at a very dangerous crossroads & really need someone intelligent & diplomatic in charge of our safety & the future of our children & grandchildren. Does anyone agree with me?

Calypso, I hope you will stay in touch these next few days & let us know how Maria affects you. My prayer list is now so long, I have rolled it up & hung it from the ceiling. Mother nature can be quite nasty when she is disturbed.

I helped myself to some Baileys and ate the last of the little cookies that Blue brought. I LOVE the refuge!

No problem. Valentin just brought 3 tubs of pecan & coconut cookies, fresh baked & I fried up a few pounds of boneless chicken breast. We also have some nice red muscadine wine. Usually too sweet for me but this is delicious! Croissants & a big bowl of zeloni Salat (slaw with a bunch of other good stuff in it like green onions, tomato, green pepper, carrot & cilantro).
Wiley is figuring out math. He pointed to a sign that said 50% off & asked "half price"? V gave him $20 & he looked at every toy in Target & spent almost to the penny what he had (but did not know about tax, lol). He still has trouble speaking clearly enough for outsiders to understand him but he is smart as a whip otherwise and he sure can shop! Maybe he takes after me. I used to be able to spend every centime of foreign money before I left a country. Maybe he can keep his Mama on a budget. And after the first time, he spent the whole $20 on one big toy. Now he parcels it out so he can get a little something every time he goes to the store. One time it was a fake snake & he insisted on taking it to lunch, dangling it from his teeth. We got some ugly looks but that is nothing new. He is 4 now. Kindergarten next year. His mother has figured out a good place for him. He cannot do everything other 4 year olds can do but he is light years ahead in other things. I think he has a very good brain once he unlocks everything & calms down enough to focus on what the teacher wants him to do.
