She has a sister whose husband is in a nursing home now and was expected to come home, but he has taken a turn for the worse and it looks like he will have to stay there. The sister is terrified of losing her home and knew this sister knew of an elder lawyer who helped another family member hide some profits and was able to save their home. I don't know that much about it and the sister who wants help lives in AZ while the lawyer is from another state.

The main point was this woman made a comment about how the Democrats are not going to lift a finger to help get this bill passed. She said they refuse to work together across the aisles. I said I would think you would be against this very bill that was going to take away so much from Medicaid the very thing that will help your brother-in-law. She also said that it was just like when Obamacare was passed the Democrats just rushed it through with no input from the Republicans. I told her that was the furthest thing from the truth and I have heard many Trump supporters say that same thing. She went on to say that she heard Pelosi tell them to read it later. While Pelosi did say that I went on to tell her how many months of meetings and hearings back and forth between both parties took place and that the Republicans did get things in the bill that they wanted even though they didn't vote for it in the end. I said and you are wrong the Democrats do want to work with the Republicans to get a good bill passed - not this back door 13 men panel bill that they didn't even show to their fellow Republicans.

I guess it still amazes me that some people just take things at face value without really educating themselves. They are just happy to listen to everything that FOX News and the likes of people like Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, and now Newt Gingrich who has popped up again tell them what they are telling them is the truth. Her last comment said it all. Her hope is that Obamacare goes dead in the water so Obama can take the blame for everything. Instead of being concerned for people in this country and what may happen it is more important to be able to blame someone. I don't understand people who feel that way. I have empathy for people and always have. I have tried to live my life to be a caring and kind person to all. I wish no harm on anyone. To talk to people or read the comments written below the many YouTube videos or articles that have been written just makes me sad at how mean people can be.

Thanks for letting me vent my feelings here in this thread. It always makes me feel better to know that the people in this thread are people very much like myself. People in this thread care about what is going on with our country and care about people. You all educate yourself and then share the information so all of us are kept informed. I just wish that both the Democrats and the Republicans could forget party lines and truly work together for the good of the country. I don't know if it has always been this bad and I wasn't aware because we didn't have the social media available to us when I started voting that we have now. Back then it was the paper and one news show a night. Now it's news 24/7. As wonderful as technology is I sometimes wonder if it is too much of a good thing. Hope everyone enjoyed their weekend. :)

Hi Jacee. I've reached the point with these people who voted for Trump and now have these "woe is me" stories that I want to scream, "Here's a quarter, call someone who cares." They continue to vote against their own interests and shoot themselves in the foot. These lazy, low information people refuse to educate themselves and choose to parrot what someone in their party repeats over and over or they choose to get their information from the likes of Kelly Ann Conway or Fox News. These people are going to have to suffer big-time and personally feel and experience the effects of Trump/Ryan/O'Connell healthcare. Ironically, these con artists and their staff are exempt from this wonderful healthcare package they are trying to pawn off on the masses.

Hi BrianRose you feel exactly as I do and yes how convenient that this horrible healthcare plan will not include them. All they care about is themselves and too bad for the people who they made an oath to serve. Like you I can't stand O'Connell/Trump or Paul Ryan. I think I have gotten myself in a rut listening to these Trump lovers who just don't get it. I need to take the same attitude as you and use your wonderful analogy of "Here's a quarter, call someone who cares." I can't change their minds and they are going to stand behind him in spite of them being the ones who need the very things that will be taken away. I find that they say they don't want Government in their lives and yet they have no problem accepting things like VA benefits, Medicaid, Medicare and SS. This friend I was talking about mentioned how she is not worried about pre-existing conditions being covered because the plan would take care of that and I said at what cost? She thinks Trump will take care of everything. Her husband has the worst kind of MS and requires aides. He is on a feeding tube and was in a nursing home already and he may have to go back. We all know how expensive nursing homes are and Medicare only pays for a certain amount of time. I need to stop trying to get them to see the real truth and let them find out for themselves. Thanks BrianRose I have always loved reading your wonderful posts. We were on the same page back in the B&B days and here we are again on the same page with our political views. :D

Yes, and also let's not forget how Trump attempted to upstage President Obama when Obama was still President with his meetings with Carrier, claiming he saved 1,000 jobs there. It turns out it was only about 700 jobs that stayed after Trump gave Carrier $7 million in tax breaks to "supposedly" save those jobs. Well, Carrier has informed the state of Indiana that it will soon begin cutting 632 workers from an Indianapolis factory, and the manufacturing jobs will move to Monterrey, Mexico, where the minimum wage is $3.90 per day. Another GREAT "Art of the Deal" by Trump.

Hi again BrianRose, When I saw what you have said here I had to share my personal history with that whole Carrier joke with Trump. When the whole Carrier thing was going on I was so familiar with the whole situation as I worked for 38 years at another division of the parent company United Technologies Corporation of which Carrier is another division. UTC no longer wanted our division because we worked on fuel cells and with all the cutbacks with the space program we instead were putting fuel cells in various other businesses like hospitals, casinos, grocery stores like Whole Foods, even a submarine etc, but weren't making enough to satisfy the Corporation so they wanted to unload us.

We no longer had all the Government contracts like we had throughout the early years when we were very involved in Space. A deal was worked out much like the Carrier deal where they kept us open for a period of time and then after about a year they ended up selling us off.

Trump worked no miracles as he wanted people to think. Carrier knew ultimately what it planned to do and did just that. When the Carrier thing was going on and the Trump supporters were hailing him as this hero I was watching a YouTube video on it and the Trump supporters were going on and on about how he was saving jobs like crazy. I had to comment on my own experience and told them just wait and see it is going to go to another country because of wages. Why wouldn't a corporation who is all about profits go to a country where people will work for practically nothing compared to the wages that the hourly workers here in the USA get. At the time at our division the average hourly worker made $25 an hour.

The company that I once worked for is now called Doosan Fuel Cells which is a South Korean company. The Koreans were our biggest customer along with the Japanese as they used our fuel cells throughout their country. We use to have a union for the hourly workers and I worked salary and was non union. Doosan doesn't allow unions and when they first started hiring hourly workers they didn't pay any more than $13/hour. Needless to say none of the previous hourly people stayed on. When I wrote my comment on that video I was told I was nuts for the way I thought and Trump was keeping his promises. Yeah right some hero and how are people so stupid??? I don't think I will ever understand these people and I will take your previous advice and just say "Here's a quarter call someone who cares."
