ABC Daytime Studio Changes For All My Children and One Life to Live!

Tuesday, August 04 2009

(ABC)
Don't panic soap fans but ABC Daytime will making a few major studio moves - most drastically for All My Children

The All My Children crew will be moving from their New York City studios to the ABC studios in Los Angeles, while One Life to Live will move from their studios at 56 West 66th Street to the former All My Children studios at 77 West 66th Street in New York City, New York.

Not only will both shows have facility upgrades and streamlined production models, All My Children will now have a larger studio, containing two stages, which will make the transition from standard-definition to high-definition TV a smooth one. Since the All My Children's current New York studio is larger than One Life to Live's current one, they too will benefit from the decision.

The move to Los Angeles is set to take place in December, where the All My Children crews will begin taping new episodes during the week of January 4, 2010 - and the One Life to Live group will follow suit.

Soaps.com wishes all the actors and crews a smooth transition into their new studio homes.

Wow! This is momentous! AMC has been in NYC since it's inception!. What is going to happen to the cast? Is there going to be any kind of cast shake-up? They can't all want to move to L.A.

aww I kinda feel bad for Kristen Alderson! She just painted her dressing room and fixed it all up! But maybe she can get a bigger one now! This should be good for both shows!

As I also replied in the AMC News Section this is a big mistake and despite what they say AMC will NOT be the same. I am sure many of the actors will not want to move or commute because their family is in NYC and despite their contracts a good lawyer will be able to fight this using "change of venue" as a defense. The only bright spot is that since James Mitchell won't have to commute from LA any more, maybe we will get a lot more Palmer.

Oh No!!! does this mean all the actors and actresses have to relocate to California? I sure hope we don't loose any major characters! Wow is this the reason why Jack Montgormey (Walt) is leaving the show?

Is Pinevalley, PA still Pinevalley, PA once they more to California?

I, too, think this is a major mistake! The history between One to Live and All My Children is huge. Does this mean we might see crossover stories to Port Charles now? I hope the cast from AMC will move. I can see AMC losing Joe Martin, Ruth, Adam, few others. sad day for NYC. Well at least we will have One Life to Live there, but I hope they will still do a crossover with Llandview.

This is soooo terrible. Just like the other commenter added, there is history between AMC,NYC, and OLTL. Oh no. This is such sad news for fans. I can't believe that you are going to move "OUR" show. Well, I know it won't be the same and it will not be better just different. Fans will be able to tell. I'm sorry for the cast if they are not pleased. But California is the place where programs can be made in a bigger atmosphere...Good Luck. Signed: Very Sad and Depressed Fan.
