    Soap Opera Actors: Where Are They Now?

    Catching up with the former daytime actors.

    Soaps.com has some details surrounding the careers of former soap stars of daytime cancelled soaps "All My Children," "Another World," "As The World Turns," "Capital," "Guiding Light," "One Life To Live" and "Search For Tomorrow." Read to learn who will be turning up in primetime and in films, an off-Broadway role, a fight against cancer, sad passings, a self-help book, a shoe line and more in this month's after-daytime column.

    Aiden Turner escapes criminal charges.
    The charges against former "All My Children" alum (ex-Aidan Devane) Aiden Turner, who was charged with domestic violence, have been dropped. TMZ is reporting that his criminal attorney Mike Cavalluzzi got him a plea deal with the actor pleading no contest to misdemeanor disturbing the peace. Turner will have to complete fifty-two weeks of domestic violence counseling with the plea reduced further to an infraction after one year.

    Cady McClain's Murdering My Youth.
    Starting on Friday March 7 "All My Children" alum Cady McClain's (ex-Dixie Martin) new self-help book titled Murdering My Youth will be available for purchase on Amazon. As explained on Cady McClain's official website, "As you may have figured out, the book is about my youth. My upbringing to be exact, and the myriad of experiences I had as a child actor in Hollywood. It is about abuse of innocence on one level, but on another level it is about the deep love and loyalty I had for my mother, and the grief I felt when she died. She was a complex person, flawed in many ways. She left me with feelings that took me years to understand." Update: Cady McClain has been cast on The Young And The Restless as Kelly.

    Natalie Hall on Star-Crossed.
    Back on Monday February 17 the CW premiered "Star-Crossed," its new science fiction romance series which follows a human girl, an alien boy and six other teenage aliens who are incorporated into a suburban high school. Fans of former "All My Children" alum Natalie Hall (ex-Colby Chandler) will want to tune in to watch the actress in the role of Taylor Mondays at 8:00 PM.

    Kim Rhodes featured in Super Bowl commercial.
    Kim Rhodes, who played "Another World's" Cindy Brooke Harrison in 1999, was featured in the Chevrolet cancer commercial that aired during Super Bowl XLVIII on Sunday February 2. The actress is a cancer survivor and took to Twitter after the commercial aired.












    Michael Park on stage in The Three Penny Opera.
    Michael Park, "As The World Turns'" ex-Jack Snyder, is staying quite busy these days. Fans will have the chance to see him off-Broadway in The Atlantic Theater Company's revival of "The Three Penny Opera," also starring Laura Osnes ("Elementary"), Sally Murphy ("The Mob Doctor") and F. Murray Abraham ("The Good Wife"). The story follows an alluring villain named Macheath (Park) and his many 19th century London exploits. Throughout the story viewers will be wondering if one has to be a criminal to survive… Opening night is scheduled for April 7, with a limited engagement from March 12 through May 4 at the Linda Gross Theater at 336 W. 20th Street in New York City, New York.     Richard Bull passes away.
    Richard Bull passed away at the age of 89 at the Motion Picture & Television Fund's Hospital in Woodland Hills, California on Monday February 3. Bull will always be remembered most for his role as Nels Oleson on "Little House On The Prairie." The accomplished actor also appeared as a judge on "Capitol" in the 1980s and as Dr. Lewis Remmick on "Payton Place," plus in numerous other roles.     Guiding Light stars at Pittsburgh Women's Expo.
    Former "Guiding Light" actors Kim Zimmer (ex-Reva Lewis, "One Life To Live's" ex-Echo DiSavoy), Robert Newman (ex-Josh Lewis), Jessica Leccia (ex-Natalia Rivera, "One Life To Live's" ex-Inez Salinger, "Venice The Series'" Ani Martin) and Frank Dicopoulos (ex-Frank Cooper) will be at the Pittsburgh Women's Expo in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on Sunday March 2.     Earlier this year Soaps.com reported details surrounding former "Guiding Light's" (ex-Jonathan Randall, "As The World Turns'" ex-Mick Dante) Tom Pelphrey's Tiger Lily Road. Director and writer Michael Medeiros has shared the official trailer for fans to enjoy below.



    David Chisum in Unknown Caller.
    David Chisum's "One Life To Live" character, Miles Laurence, scared more than a few people before departing the now defunct soap in 2008. Beginning on March 1 the actor can be seen starring in the new film "Unknown Caller," which follows a psychopath who terrorizes a family for ninety minutes using their own high tech security system with a ticking time bomb. Chisum can also be seen in the upcoming ABC series, "The Black Box," as Josh Black.

    Josh Kelly in Lifetime's Un-Real.
    Fans of "One Life To Live" alum Josh Kelly (ex-Cutter Wentworth) will have the chance to see him back on television. Lifetime has ordered its pilot "Un-Real" to series to include ten-episodes. Kelly will play Jeremy in the drama that will give viewers backstage access into the pandemonium that engulfs the making of a dating competition program.

    Ryan Phillippe stars in Secrets & Lies.
    ABC and Ryan Phillippe, who played the first gay teen on daytime in 1992 (ex-Billy Douglas, "One Life To Live"), has landed the lead role of Ben Garner in the upcoming pilot "Secrets & Lies." The story, which is based off of an Australian mystery series, follows a family man who becomes the prime murder suspect after finding the body of a boy. In order to save his marriage, family and reputation he searches to find the real killer.

    Jessica Morris to Perception.
    Jessica Morris, whose character Jennifer Rappaport was murdered on "One Life To Live" in 2008, has landed a primetime role. Look for the actress to appear as Linda Mullane on TNT's "Perception" in episode 302 titled "Painless." The series returned with new episodes on Tuesday February 25.




    Trevor St. John and Wendy Moniz co-star in The Grief Of Others.
    "One Life To Live" co-stars Trevor St. John (ex-Victor Lord) and Wendy Moniz (ex-Mayor Finn, "Guiding Light's" ex-Dinah Marler) will appear together alongside Rachel Dratch ("The Middle") in the upcoming film "The Grief Of Others." Based on the book by Leah Hager Cohen the storyline follows the death of a couple's (St. John and Moniz) baby only fifty-seven hours after his birth and the path to overcoming their grief for the sake of their family. Filming starts in April in Nyack, New York.

    John Wesley Shipp in The Flash.
    The CW has a new pilot in the works and former "One Life To Live" actor John Wesley Shipp (ex-Eddie Ford) will appear in "The Flash." Longtime fans will remember Shipp from the 1990s version of the show as Barry Allen/The Flash. Though details about Shipp's role are being kept under-wraps should the pilot be ordered to series Deadline is reporting that his role could very well be recurring. From his tweet below stating, "Full Circle," we'd like nothing more than to see Shipp in the starring role!




    Mark Wystrach's shoe line.
    Fans of Mark Wystrach will remember him from his time as Fox Crane on "Passions" from 2006 to 2007. What's he been up to these days? Aside from popping up in primetime here and there since leaving daytime behind, the actor is the co-founder of a shoe line called The People's Movement. Some may not realize it but Wystrach, who is an avid surfer, suffered a heart attack in his 20s triggered by polluted waters. His eco-conscious shoe line was created to help fight against plastics pollution. In fact, customers are asked to help contribute to a responsible lifestyle, as Wystrach continues to be a charismatic spokesman for cleaning up the world's oceans.     Louan Gideon passes away.
    Louan Gideon, who played Liza Sentell Kendall on "Search For Tomorrow" in 1986, passed away at the age of 58 after a battle with breast cancer on Monday February 3. After her daytime role Gideon went on to appear in many primetime hits such as "Who's The Boss," "Seinfeld," and "Malcolm In The Middle," to name a few.     I don't want Brooke to have Ridge, I want Katie. Brooke is becoming to much a pain and boring with her whining ways. Oh please forgive me I made a mistake and that makes it alright! Don't think so.
