In this week's Celebrity News, Charlie Sheen readies for a rocking chair, a rapper writes a fitness book, Anna Kendrick airs her theater exploits, and a beloved TV patriarch passes away.
Fit Fifty Cent.
Who doesn’t want to drop a couple of pounds after binging over the holidays? But among the many lifestyle guides out there, would you consider taking fitness advice from 50 Cent? The 11-time Grammy nominated-rapper, whose real name is Curtis James Jackson III, has reportedly released his first fitness book, Formula 50, with co-author and health journalist Jeff O'Connell. On a recent appearance on the "Today Show," Jackson revealed how his severe gunshot injuries in 2000 inspired him to rebuild his physical strength in addition to balancing his monetary wealth. Jackson, who enjoyed overnight success with this debut album, Get Rich or Die Tryin' in 2003, is often featured showing off his chiseled chest, biceps and six-pack abs in promotional material and his music videos. His fitness formula in the book details how he achieved his ripped physique and, with the help of several bodybuilding experts, outlines the benefits of a protein-rich diet plan and metabolic resistance training (MRT) – which focuses on rapid fat loss through shorter, more intense workouts. Check out 50 Cent's book promo for Formula 50.
Grandpa Charlie Sheen.
Congratulations to Charlie Sheen! The actor is going to be a granddad! According to "Access Hollywood," Sheen's eldest daughter Cassandra, from his relationship with his high-school girlfriend Paula Profit, is expecting her first child. Sheen's ex-wife and mother of two of his five children, Denise Richards, went on Twitter to announce the happy news, which Sheen confirmed on an appearance on the Late Show with David Letterman on Monday.

Jessica Simpson, comedienne?
Jessica Simpson is set to star in an NBC comedy sitcom loosely based on her life's events as a pop singer and reality star and how she manages motherhood with her fashion and beauty business. According to Deadline, the show will air in a half-hour format and will be executive produced by Simpson, "Two and a Half Men" scriptwriter Nick Bakay, "Fashion Star" reality series producer Ben Silverman and Simpson's father/manager Joe Simpson. "Jessica Simpson is truly a modern-day Lucy with incredible comedic chops," says Silverman. Simpson, who once guest starred on "That '70s Show," added that, "I often find myself thinking that no one could ever make up the things that actually happen in my life — so between the real-life elements and a great team of writers, I think we’ll have people laughing!" The singer and television personality recently announced that she is expecting her second child with fiancé Eric Johnson and, has also reportedly decided to expand her maternity fashion line due to high demand.
Russell Crowe still single.
While the image of Russell Crowe and Dita Von Teese together may be titillating, surprise, surprise…it's not true! Fresh from a reported holiday reunion of sorts with his children and estranged wife Danielle Spencer in Sydney, Australia, Crowe has come out via Twitter to deny rumors that he's dating the burlesque star and lingerie model. According to the New York Post, the Broken City actor – who is also enjoying the award-winning success of his critically acclaimed film Les Misérables – and Von Teese had booked an intimate couples massage at the Four Seasons Hotel in New York last month, which they allegedly followed with some flirting via Twitter. But there's no romance here, as Crowe who may be alone in love, is certainly not lonely for new friends – intimate couples massage or not.
@ditavonteese is brave, smart, sweet and elegant. She is a friend of mine. Who wouldn't want friends like that? Friends, not lovers.— Russell Crowe (@russellcrowe) January 14, 2013
Diff'rent Strokes star passes.
Actor Conrad Bain has died at the age of 89. Bain's role as millionaire businessman Phillip Drummond and father figure to his fictional daughter Kimberly, played by the late Dana Plato and sons Willis and Arnold Jackson, played by Todd Bridges and the late Gary Coleman lasted for eight seasons from 1978 to 1986 on the sitcom "Diff'rent Strokes." A saddened Bridges reportedly made a statement to TMZ saying, "In addition to being a positive and supportive father figure both on and off-screen, Conrad was well-loved and made going to work each day enjoyable for all of us. He will be missed, but never forgotten." While Plato, Coleman and Bridges reportedly led troubled lives punctuated by arrests, substance abuse, anger management and illness, Bain appeared to live a relatively peaceful life before passing away of natural causes at a retirement home in Livermore, CA on Monday according to TMZ. He leaves behind three children and a brother.
Going to the chapel.
Jason Sudeikis ("Saturday Night Live") and Olivia Wilde ("House," "Tron: Uprising") are reportedly engaged! And while Sudeikis has yet to reportedly put a ring on it, the lovely Wilde allegedly accepted his proposal over the holidays for a happily ever after. It has been reported that Wilde has been limiting her film engagements and reportedly put her house up for sale in Los Angeles to be closer to Sudeikis in New York where he tapes "Saturday Night Live." Rumors also suggest that the wedding will take place in Kansas City. The couple has been dating for just over a year.
New celebrity mom, newlywed, actress and producer Drew Barrymore ("Charlie's Angels") is launching a newly developed cosmetic line for Walmart and Walmart.com this week. After several years as a brand ambassador for Cover Girl, Barrymore's Flower Beauty collection of make-up, nail polish and lip butter promises to be affordable, diverse and environmentally friendly. Barrymore, who recently wed art consultant Will Kopelman and delivered her daughter Olive four months ago, will sit down for a candid and revealing chat of her own on Oprah's Next Chapter with Drew Barrymore on January 20. It will be the first time the actress has ever allowed cameras inside her home.
Kelly Ripa's Botox reveal.
A little help goes a long way and, with a few well-placed Botox injections, "Live with Kelly and Michael" host Kelly Ripa has managed to maintain a youthful, relatively wrinkle-free television persona. Of course, the petite host, actress and mother of three puts in the hard work with her frequent and varied fitness workouts too with the help of her personal trainer Ann Kaiser. But those little needles appear to be well-timed. As Ripa reportedly told Elle magazine, "Every seven months or so, my eyelid skin rests on my eyelashes. So I feel like it makes my makeup artist's life easier, and it makes my eyes look a little more open on TV, which is where I happen to work right now." Smart lady.
Anna Kendrick's racy tweet?
Actress Anna Kendrick ("Up In The Air," "Twilight") has apparently landed herself in a cyber frenzy over comments she made via Twitter that indicated she had a little bit of a joygasm while watching Ryan Gosling in his latest film Gangster Squad while seated in the back row of a theater. Kendrick's racy remarks were met with hilarity for the most part by her followers, many of whom are responsible for re-tweeting her chagrined posting over 25,000 times.
Ugh - NEVER going to a Ryan Gosling movie in a theater again. Apparently masturbating in the back row is still considered "inappropriate"— Anna Kendrick (@AnnaKendrick47) January 14, 2013
Jeremy Renner drops a daddy bomb?
The walls have ears and the ones at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles are wide open. According to sources for Us Weekly, actor Jeremy Renner ("The Bourne Legacy") was overheard telling actress Eva Longoria ("Desperate Housewives;" "ex-Isabella, "Y&R") on the smoking patio at the Golden Globe Awards that he is expecting a baby next month with one of his ex-girlfriends, adding that, "I'm going to fly in when her water breaks." Witnesses allegedly heard a shocked Longoria respond that she was "blown away." Reported insiders at the magazine suggest that Renner, who is currently promoting his new film Hansel and Gretel Witch Hunters out January 25 is keeping the pregnancy on the down-low but that his expectant ex is currently living at his home in Los Angeles. Moral of the story? Stay away from that darned smoking patio.
Lindsay's payday only for acting.
According to TMZ, Lindsay Lohan's father Michael is highly agitated over reports that his daughter is a well-paid escort. The reports reportedly have the elder Lohan declaring that his daughter is showered with gifts, jewellery and lots of money after her dates with rich men that sometimes extend beyond the date night. However, Lohan is insisting he was unequivocally misquoted and that the reports are absolutely untrue. The younger Lohan however, isn't seeing much of a payday with what she does do for a living – acting. According to The New York Times, for her new film The Canyons, Lohan was reportedly paid $100 a day "and an equal share of the profits, but [got] no vote in the decision-making" to film the movie that includes a four-way sex scene. With a reported debt of $40,000 in unpaid wages due to her former assistant, you be the judge on whether her performance is worth it.
Edward Furlong arrested again.
Actor Edward Furlong ("Terminator 2," "American History X") is reportedly out of job and possibly a girlfriend after being arrested for domestic violence. Furlong was set to begin filming "Other Plans," but has since lost out on the role after producers reportedly fired him as a result of his latest arrest. According to TMZ, film producer Joe Eckardt declared that the movie's already "suffered way too long waiting for [Furlong] to be clear of his legal issues...It's time to move on now and make our film without him." This isn't the first time the actor has had to face the law due to his violent outbursts on the home front. Furlong, who pleaded not guilty and is still behind bars awaiting $30,000 bail, was arrested late last October for domestic battery after a very public fight/squabble with his girlfriend at Los Angeles International airport – an incident that allegedly left visible marks on her arm, and reportedly left Furlong canned from the film "Misled." Trouble seems to follow the star who has been in and out of rehab and is reportedly banned from seeing his six-year-old son Ethan, due to a court order filed by ex-wife Rachael Bella after Ethan tested positive for cocaine while in his care. Details on that incident remain unclear.
