New love on Hollyoaks? (Lime Pictures)
Since Americans aren't the only ones with good soapy drama, Soaps.com has listened to our readers from across the pond who have requested we keep tabs on a few British and Australian soap operas. Take a look at what's going on with dramas from other parts of the world.
Dot will be M.I.A. for a while as June Brown, who has been with the show since 1985, is taking a six-month leave of absence. The 85-year-old actress plans to write her autobiography during her time off.
While Brown will be absent from the canvas, Jamie Foreman will reportedly stay on, as he extended his contract to play Derek Branning until October.
Spoiler alert: Feeling the pressure from DCI Marsden, Phil suggests he, Ben and Jay leave town before she can connect the boys to Heather's death. However, if Marsden is anything like American soap cops, the Mitchells have nothing to worry about.
The British soap is going on tour. With music. Yes, you read that right, the musical "Street of Dreams" will relive some of the biggest stories of the soap opera's run. It will kick off in Manchester on May 9 and tour to Dublin, Belfast and Newcastle. Watch a promo for it below, which may not be available in all areas.
Spoiler alert: Just when it looked like Eileen and Paul could move forward with their lives, now that Lesley is safely tucked away in a care facility, Paul's wife makes a break for it. Not only does the incident ruin the couple's vacation plans, but it lands Lesley right back home with them. One step forward. Two steps back.
Grace Cassidy, who has played Hannah Barton for the last three years, has announced she will be leaving the drama later this year to pursue other projects.
Spoiler alert: Now that Zak has everyone believing his cancer has returned, he has a hard time keeping his lies straight. He tries to intervene when he learns Belle has been told he's sick again, but things turn ugly when confusion sets in for him at her school. Are things about to get a lot worse before they get better?
Cameron offers to leave Debbie for Chas, but will she jump at the offer, or will she be paralyzed by fear? Watch a clip from the May 1 episode, which may not be available in all areas.
Spoiler alert: Jealousy sets in for Doug over Ste's relationship with Adam, leading him to admit his true feelings for Ste. The men kiss, but is Doug ready for this? Furthermore, does Ste share the attraction?
Feeling the pressure from Wardy, Scott and Annalise prepare to tell Rob the truth about their relationship. It remains to be seen if they get to Rob before Wardy, but Rob does find out. To the couple's surprise, he seems to be outwardly fine with the news, but is he really?
Spoiler alert: After taking a break from each other, Andrew and Summer meet up at Tasha's party. Andrew tells her he's ready for their break to be over and wants to get back together. If that's true, why does he end up kissing another girl?
When Lou needs quick cash, he takes a cue from Toadie and creates his own homeopathic concoction to sell. If that's not a recipe for disaster, we don't know what is.
Home and Away:
Spoiler alert: He's tried to make it work, but Liam just can't accept the fact that his wife is carrying another man's child. When he realizes Bianca doesn't truly want to leave her home in order to put everything behind them, Liam decides to end their marriage. Will this pave the way for Bianca to be with the father of her child, or will she fight for her husband?
Romeo just lost Indi and now he might lose the thing that came between them: his surfing career. After Romeo is hit by a car, he opts not to go to the hospital for treatment. Will that decision make his injury worse and end his career before it barely started?
