Americans aren't the only ones with good soapy drama. Soaps.com has listened to our readers from across the pond who've written in to request we keep tabs on a few British and Australian soap operas. Take a look at what's to come on dramas from other parts of the world.
Home & Away:
Indiana Evans (ex-Matilda) and Brenton Thwaites (Stu) are going from Summer Bay to "The Blue Lagoon." The soap actors will star in Lifetime's remake of the film, stepping into the roles Brooke Shields and Christopher Atkins first played in 1980. Filming of the movie about two kids who grow up and fall in love while stranded on an island, will begin this month in Puerto Rico.
Spoiler alert: In order to pay back Leah for the money she gave Geoffrey King on his behalf, Brax starts earning extra cash by cage fighting. Not to mention, it's a good way to beat down the pain of losing Charlie. Just ask Ryan from "The O.C." or Ryan from "All My Children."
Meanwhile, Ruby is found unconscious after refusing to eat, followed by a drinking binge in the aftermath of her mother's death. Concerned for the teen, Roo invites her to stay at her Summer Bay house. Will it help?
Spoiler alert: Jack and Derek get into it after Roxy goes missing. It seems little bro Jack believes big bro Derek has something to do with her disappearance. Is he right?
Wanting to impress Amira, Anthony gets creative trying to satisfy her expensive tastes. Taking a cue from "Lady and the Tramp," he transforms the lounge and cooks her a meal. Spaghetti and meatballs is probably a good guess for the menu.
Spoiler Alert: Audrey runs into her past this week when she and Gail stop off at a pub for a drink and see Audrey's old flame Lewis Archer. He pretends to be Lewis' identical twin, as one would, but his story doesn't exactly fly. The con artist then claims to be a changed man. Only time will tell.
Also, look for Frank to cause more trouble for Carla at the factory when he sabotages her attempt to land a new contract. Will Frank's latest stunt force her to reconsider selling the factory to him, or will she find another way to get rid of her tormentor?
Fans will soon have the opportunity to experience "Emmerdale" beyond the soap's regular episodes. A new digital initiative will allow viewers to learn what the characters really think about each other by reading their private messages and witness unseen footage filmed on their mobile phones.
Spoiler alert: Gaynor Faye has been cast as Declan's half-sister Megan Macey, who he wants to help with his music festival. It seems she's not exactly onboard though and needs some convincing to take the job as festival manager. She'll also butt heads with Katie, who she assumes is just a Home Farm staff member. Oops.
Rachel Shenton (Mitzeee) is planning to climb Mount Kilimanjaro as a way to raise money for the National Deaf Children's Society. The actress, whose father was deaf during the last two years of his life, learned British Sign Language and has worked as a BSL interpreter.
"Hollyoaks" producer Emma Smithwick has said she wants to introduce more strong female characters to the soap. Maybe she should look to Rachel Shenton for inspiration.
Spoiler alert: Mercedes' family grows concerned as she continues to spiral out of control. In an effort to help, they take her to a party at Chez Chez, but their plan backfires when she throws herself at new guy Ally. Nice try though.
Kyle's grandma is coming to town, as Colette Mann ("Prisoner") has been cast as Sheila Canning. She will pay her grandson a surprise visit later this year.
Spoiler alert: This week, Lucas tries to find Chris' attacker on his own, which leads him to the race track. Meanwhile, Toadie sets out to clear his name and Chris has a hard time returning to the garage where he was beaten. In addition, Emilia's work as a nude model doesn't sit too well with Lucas. Will her job come between them, or will conservative Lucas loosen up a bit?
