The prediction for Daytime Emmys for The The Young and the Restless are complicated since there are so many nominations and all are deserving of an award! Certainly, we would like to see veteran actress Jeanne Cooper (Katherine Chancellor) take home the Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress for her amazing work, as Katherine and Jill (Jess Walton) went through the emotional turmoil of discovering the truth about Jill's son, Cane (Daniel Goddard). Also deserving is the fabulous Michelle Stafford (Phyllis Summers Newman) who never fails to motivate the audience to love-to-hate her character, or, at other times, sympathize with Phyllis's vulnerabilities. We believe that she is Phyllis - which is the ultimate mark of a great actress. Michelle had great material last year with her involvement in Dru's (Victoria Rowell) death, her jail scenes with Jana (Emily O'Brien), and her belief that she had lost onscreen husband, Nick (Joshua Morrow) in a plane crash! As noted above, all of the nominations for Daytime Emmys for Y&R are well-deserved, but we would be remiss if we didn't predict awards for Christian J. LeBlanc (Michael Baldwin) as Outstanding Supporting Actor, and on-screen brother, Greg Rikaart (Kevin Fisher) as Outstanding Younger Male Actor. Both men are incredible actors who never fail to deliver more than what is required in any given scene!
The Bold and the Beautiful's Heather Tom has been proving herself as a wonderful actress for years, and in her current role as Katie Logan, she should easily take home the Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress! Heather plays the straight-shooting Katie to a tee. Although she didn't have particularly dramatic material last year, her scenes with sister Donna as she prepared to marry Thorne in order to exact revenge on Stephanie, were excellent. The facial expressions of disgust and disappointment, mixed with the moments of subtle vulnerability with Thorne, are clear illustrators of what makes Heather Tom a force to be reckoned with in even the most simple acting scene. Her later scenes with powerhouse actress Susan Flannery, where Stephanie and Katie face-off over Stephanie's relationship with Brooke, truly show how deserving Heather is of a Daytime Emmy award, as she held her own, and even stole some of the scenes from, the Forrester Matriarch. Go Heather! We'll be cheering you on on Emmy night!
