ewwwwwww, bad move Oprah! Own is not that great, it is so repetitive, it shows six episodes of one show and then moves on to the next show to do the same. I for one wont be watching OWN, I tried it, I don't like it.

What seems to missing from the whole cancellation deal, is, how many people DVR or VCR record the shows each day...
Thats what we've done for years and years...

Do those numbers show up in the rate share ratio?

I don't think they want to save the soaps. Getting the soaps on OWN would have been a rating boost for the network, but that's Miss Winfrey's lost. Personally , Im going to another network. Let's see how ABC looks two years from now.You don't have to be a fortune teller to see the writing on the wall.

It's not Oprah's fault, it IS from the lack of viewers. Just like what happened with Guiding Light and As the World Turns, and is going to happen to Young and the Restless if loyal viewers don't keep watching. Soaps will one day be a thing of the past if we don't remain loyal.

I think Oprah is making a bad move in not picking up AMC and OLTL. I agree with you all that OWN is not that good and nothing on there interests me. So good bye Oprah I won;t be watching OWN.

And what would you except from this Big Greedy Wipe.
I will never watch her channel, Everytime I click by there the same thing is on. Her OWN will not last long.

When the soaps are over I cancel the basic cable. Let the networks rot. I am sick of info commercials.I will go to the library to watch what interests me.

I appreciate Oprah actually making a video of her answer. Better than some Press Release......but I don't get her reasoning.....

Not enough people are home during the day......I suppose that means that all of the fans who DVR and tape the shows are worthless due to the fact that we can FF through the adverstisements.....

Good Grief.....it is 2011, the old business model for advertisers and commercials that are force fed to folks who watch TV live are over.....

That is crap, that there is not a dime to be made.....The soap fans have hugh numbers that do not show up in the ratings.....and we all watch the ads on these soap websites, and any other internet venue, which in fact is the future of advertising....

If you have a commercial free show, that spur this much discussion, blogs, message boards, etc.....That is where your advertising dollars should be spent in the future.....Anyone can pause and FF thru the commercials during the day, with any cable......most folks have at least basic cable....or satellite...

Old school business models are over....the future is here and anyone that wants to stay in business better get with the program......Oprah, sorry , you have made your fortune, but don't preach old school business to younger folks...have your heard of Facebook, Twitter?.....good grief....

Now I know why OWN is failing miserably......
