I have been watching this show since 1950 when I was ill and had to stay with my GreatAunt. I have been watching for over 59 years. I remember my aunt calling me and telling me what happened every week. I cried enough this week to use up nearly 10 boxes of kleenex. I am going to miss this show like no other. Their will never be another to replace it.
Thanks for all the joy they shared and the way they touched out lives.

I almost forgot, did the Light go out at the end of the show? If not, shouldn't it have? I was crying "happy tears" because Josh and Reva were together.

I am one of those who has listened/watched GL off and on [due to having to work] through the years. I can remember sitting by the huge console radio and listening to the program before it went on TV. Today was sad, but I think the writers and actors did a great job! I liked the way the story ended at the lighthouse. I thought maybe the old pickup truck was made in 1937 when the show started. This one was close, but it was not the same as a 1937. I think GL is so popular because it reflects our lives and the love of family and friends. Did anyone think to take pictures of the show today and make the pictures into a collage?

I am hoping the last two weeks of GL (or a collections of the best of GL) will be put on CDs for sale. I will sure buy a set.

I thought it was cute - Matt's daughter introduced him to her teacher...

3Puppies, I didn't pay the lighthouse any attention after Josh started walking towards Reva - (not sure if they showed it again after Josh and Reva loaded the truck). For a moment, I thought they were going to leave Colin on the back of the truck... Josh picked him up and put him in the cab.

I'm not one to post on boards but I have to today. I also have been watching the GL since I'm 8 years old. I'm 45 now. I've had to tape, DVR or catch episodes on line, but I always manage to watch. I've grown up with the Light - Reva and Josh, the 4 Muskateers, Billy and Vanessa, Roger Thorpe, Holly, India, Ross, Alan Michael. Things ended today as they should - with Reva and Josh together (in my opinion). Watching them drive off together made me cry like a baby! At least most s/l's ended happily. I cannot imagine what I will do on Monday morning without the Light. There was always something special about GL unlike any other soap (I watch all CBS soaps). I've always gotten life lessons from it. Today is as though we've all lost a friend. I am hoping that there will be future reunions as I'm unable to attend the ones coming up. Kudo's to all the actors and actresses for a job well done. You will all be sorely missed. I wish you all the best of luck!!

    A Guiding Light fan...Always!

someone please tell me what happened to jefferey..that was a let down. I would even feel good about reva and josh, if i knew what happened to jeffery

I was pleasantly surprised at the finale. They tied up all the loose ends except Jeffry & Edmund. I was hoping Reva would wind up with either Josh or Jeffery and not have to be alone. I hope they will make a 2 hr TV GL movie later like they did Dallas, and tie the loose end of the Eddie & Jeffry s/l.

I grew up on GL, so I had to watch today's last epi. I was in tears. GL and Days were the first two soap operas that I started watching in the mid to late 70s. I started watching GL when Chris Bernau was Alan and Cindy Pickett was Jackie and Alan finding out about Philip's true paternity. Justin and Elizabeth. Bet and Mike Bauer. Amanda and Lucille Wexler. I remember the epi when Maureen found out about Ed and Lillian's affair and the line "You broke my heart." as Maureen left the cabin and then eventually died in a car crash. I remember the uproar over Vanessa hooking with Matt who was a younger man. Lujack and Beth. Ross and Vanessa. Holly and Roger. I have so many great memories of GL. I am so sad to see it end. I urge all of us to keep watching the remaining soaps, so that they don't fade to black like GL and all the other soaps before it. We have to stay loyal to soap operas, no matter what. I don't want to see soap operas fade into oblivion. I will always be a diehard soap fan. Let's now tune into the remaining ones. We have to keep soap operas alive.

Ok - trying this again. My earlier post today mysteriously disappeared.
I liked today's ending even though a few loose ends remained.
At the end it was sentimental but not tearful.
Guiding Light had a pretty good run over the years.
Many thanks to the cast who worked hard to bring us great entertainment.
