Like many of you, I too had that special GL connection with Grandma Groeschel... She lived on a farm and everyday after feeding several hungry farm hands, she would take a short break by watching guiding light. It is such a special memorie to me. About Some time ago I became so dissapointed with the GL SL'S... It was around the time that Cassey and Josh were together... Anyway, although I stopped watching for a while I always tuned in now and then to see what was happening. Every since I heard that GL was ending I started watching again and I am glad I did as the show really started to come back in my opinion. I am so sad that the show is over, as many times as I got ticked off at the writing I never wanted it to be over forever. I still feel like at 2:00 today I will be watching GL. Thank you GL for all the great stories, I will miss you so much.

what a sad Monday without my visit to Springfield... I had to watch last weeks over again just to fill the void.
3:00 will never be the same. I looked at other somes on line today, but it is to soon to even think about watching.
A side note: Check out Crystal Chappells new link to her internet show Venice we can catch some of the cast there when it shows in November.
Miss you GL... I dread Tuesday...

I have watched The Guiding Light for many years and they were all like family to me. I can't believe it has ended. It's left an empty place in my heart. Please, please, please bring it back. I know it's life but it still hurts....ccg20

I used to listen to this on the radio when I came home from school every day for lunch. My mom would have it on while she did her housework. We were so excited when it became a TV show. My mom is gone and I just retired from work and was looking forward to watching it on TV right as it was broadcast. Now it's gone. I didn't think I would be so upset to see it go. But it was as if another part of my past is gone. I cried at the thought of it being over. I'll miss it.

    Here it is Sept 22 . . . and I'm still grieving over Guiding Light . . . being no more. When 3 o'clock comes around . . .
I just turn the tv off. I feel such a loss. It's amazing how life has changed. Does anyone have any suggestions what I can do for that hour to help fill up that "lonely" space?
    I miss it sooooo much!

Niecey - you gave several SL's or situations that you felt hurt the GL terribly. I already said in the very end that the choice of the 2 they chose to make gay turned my stomach as they had both been so "boy crazy." I just felt these charcters were not believeable as 2 lesbians. That being said, going futher back, I never qhite felt the same about it after they let Maureen Bauer die in the car accident. I loved the scenese in her and Ed's kitchen and I just genuinely like her. Then the last final nail was when they let Ross (Jerry Ver Dorn) die in the plane crash as he and Blake had some really great scenes and good chemistry. Yep-=these 2 deaths started my sabattical of the GL but I am still saddened that the writers could never seeem to turn it around.

O - and Jenna ( buzz's wife) I liked her and was sad when she was written off. Rememeber that crazy Nadine. Did she ever get a husband as I remember she loved the men

hardcore_diva - Suggestions on what to watch to fill the void. Try watching any of the soaps that are left such as Young and Restless or Bold and Beautiful. They have books you can buy and you can read up on what happened way back when. I think one of these days all the soaps will be obsolete. So sad.

The Young and the Restless has been moved to 3:00 P.M. in ATL; although I don't think I'll start watching it.

To fill the void, perhaps try General Hospital. Laura Wright who played Cassie on GL is on there and is absolutely FABULOUS as Carly. It's not the same as GL and may not seem at first like a good subsitute for the loss that GL fans feel, but I think you'd like GH. That's the show I grew up with and love dearly myself. I can't imagine if they were to cancel it. I'd be heartbroken as well.
