I am so sad right now. It is 10:52 eastern time. I just wrapped up watching Gl from DVR. I am so hurt right now. I am speechless. I was so hurt they allowed Ron Raines character die like that. Grant A did a wonderful job playing his role. Big ups to the cast what a wonderful job they have put on. I will miss the LIGHT and I like others just wish things would have worked out differently.

OMG I come home from work....i'm like i'm gonna watch my taped episode of Guiding Light....everything is wine and roses and then that last scene.....I don't know if anyone else felt the same thing.....but i got that feeling you get in the pit of your stomach that tell you.....something is wrong and then my mother got the same feeling and we both started crying when we realized Alan was dead. He died a hero....he made amends with everyone in his family and I kinda sense though....he knew that he was gonna die from how nice his behavior got to even Jonathan.

I knew they were gonna find a way to get us all crying.....i'm gonna need a box of tisses.....heck just give me a shower towel cause i'll saturate it like I had just taken a shower.

I was hoping that Alan would get to live on. One thing I'm glad they did was let Alan make amends to everyone. Instead of him dying and nobody caring for him. I will miss GL when it is gone. I wish CBS or some station would have picked it up.

as others have said. my grandmother, mother and myself grew up on reva and josh as well as alan. alan is from texas city texas. i as well am from texas. reva and josh has made us all wish that we had the type of love that they do. even though reva thinks that she loves jeffrey. the way that she looks at josh cannot be denied. now my granddaughter can even tell you who reva is and she is only 11. josh, reva, phillip and beth have the love in their eyes for each other that we all wish that we could have. i wish that ashley and maybe rafe had teamed up. ashley deserved love. at least she and her mom finally had a understanding instead of all tbe conflict. i hope that whoever cancelled this show after all these years has a very miserable live for what they have done. is it that they are too old now. then let someone else take over and leave the show that has bought soo much joy to everyone. get rid of some of the crappy whoes from other shows such as b & b such a crap slizzy show, other than y & r i will NEVER watch another soap on CBS. i will leave my tv on HGTV. maybe more people should leave cbs and see how they like that. my best wishes for all the characters of gl. you have bought alot of people alot of smiles over the years and i thank you

I began watching GL back in the late 1950s when the show aired for only 15 minutes. My grandmother was a fan of the show and we watched it on her black-and-white TV set.

Through the years, I've kept up with the happenings in Springfield ... sometimes as an avid viewer, other times only watching the show sporadically.

Nevertheless, the "passing" of GL makes me sad. The show has been a part of my life for five decades and the demise of GL feels very much like the loss of a close friend.

Along with countless others, I will mourn the loss.

I agree with you CBSoapKing, although I am in shock over them letting Alan die, I agree that something had to vindicate Alan for all his evil deeds--this way, he died a hero. Alan's character brought a lot to this show. I'm holding back tears even as I type this. I'll miss this show.

It's the only way he can remain the good Alan. If he were to live on he would revert right back to the Alan we all know and LOVE to hate! I think it was a very appropiate ending. RIP Mr. Spalding!!
