I Don't Want Barney Fife In My House!

    Thursday, August 06 2009
Phillip gets desperate, Shayne gets thrown in jail and Jeffrey fills Jonathan in.

At the mansion, Phillip tells Lillian that Alan discovered his secret and he's furious. He's desperate to get more time because he doesn't think six weeks will be enough to do what he needs to do.

Lizzie and Bill sit on their porch and talk about the future. They talk about how proud he is of his sister getting her life together. When he mentions that Dinah stopped by the office on her wedding night, Lizzie thinks that's odd.

Jonathan drags Jeffrey inside his cabin. "When he wakes up, he's gonna help us play some games," he tells his daughter. When Jeffrey wakes up, Jonathan gives him water. He tells him that he saw Edmund and they ran. Jeffrey is worried that Edmund has gone over the edge and will destroy everything that Reva loves. He explains everything that happened and decontaminates his wounds. He shows Jonathan the note Edmund left him. It reads, "Keep chasing me O'Neill. I like the attention."

At Cross Creek, Reva talks to Jeffrey's picture and tells him that no one understands how much she misses him. Matt comes by to pick up some tools and say hi.

Josh checks in with his son and asks him if he wants to talk. Shayne is angry and wants to be alone to figure out what to do next. He sits in his room and stares at the ring Dinah left behind.

Josh drives over to Cross Creek to talk to Reva. He tells her their son will need their help looking to the future and getting an annulment. "I'll ask Jeffrey," she blurts out before correcting herself.

Mallet makes a call to check that Dinah is gone. Frank corners him and asks him if he's found Dinah. Frank's already found more evidence against her and wants to arrest her. Marina walks in as he says this. He explains that Dinah confessed. She stares at Mallet. He tells her about the confession and apologizes again.

Mallet goes to see Reva and tells her that Jeffrey will be exonerated thanks to Dinah's confession. He apologizes but she isn't happy and slams the door in his face. After he's gone, Marina shows up to say that she's sorry and she's worried about Shayne. Dinah saved Shayne but now he could be back on a bad road.

Frank and his men go to Dinah's. They knock on the door until Shayne opens it. He tells them that Dinah left and refuses to let them in. They barge in and search for her. As they collect evidence, Mallet comes in, outraging Shayne. "I don't want Barney Fife in my house!" he shouts before they start fighting. They arrest Shayne and then Mallet calls Reva to tell her. Reva's furious.

Lizzie, Bill and Matt go to the minimart to pick things up.

Lillian sits with her daughter at Company. They talk about Lizzie's new house and Beth thinks Phillip needs to go over to the house and see his daughter. After Beth leaves, Lizzie comes in to pick up a pizza. She talks to her nana all about fixing up the house.

Phillip goes to Cedars and begs Ed to find a way to get him more time. "I can't die right now," he insists. Ed warns him that the experimental treatment could kill him as easily as cure him. Ed urges him to find a way to say his goodbyes now but Phillip says that's not acceptable. As he storms out, he runs into Beth. She tells him that his daughter wants to show him her plans for the house.

Lizzie, Bill, Matt and Beth sit on the porch and look at color swatches until Phillip arrives. His daughter tells him how much she loves the house. Bill and Lizzie announce they will host their first Thanksgiving in the house. Beth isn't sure that's realistic.

At Cedars, Lillian and Ed talk about Phillip's case. He tells her how bleak things are but it won't be anything that anyone can see. When she leaves, Phillip returns and asks for more options. Ed repeats that there aren't any and offers him other doctors to talk to. Phillip walks out, claiming he will find someone who can help him.

Lillian and Beth are at the house. Beth says that Phillip seems fine and asks her mother if there is something she should know. Bill and Lizzie walk around the corner when Frank calls Bill to tell him about Dinah's confession. "How many times can one person screw up their life?" he asks Lizzie.

As Shayne is led into the cells, Reva arrives to rant at Mallet. Josh arrives to post bail. Marina walks by and into the cells to tell Shayne how much this sucks. He agrees. She goes upstairs and asks her husband to come home with her.

Josh and Reva bring Colin down to the cells to see Shayne. He's released.

Home repairs supplies at the minimart. Greatest (and largest) minimart ever.

"I don't want Barney Fife in my house!" loved it. It's the perfect way to describe Mallet and the Springfield PD.
So good to see Johnathan again they should've brought him back sooner with him and the guy who plays Shane they might have been able to save the show. Oh well.

jbwbubba - I think that same thing whenevern I see the "minimart" -- didn't some of the characters even eat there once? How can it be a "mini" mart if it has home repair supplies AND a restaurant?

This just might classify me as a redneck, but I live in a town of about 200, our little store, not exactly a mini-mart, but you can get anything you want in there. Prepared food, supplies of every kind including some small building supplies and most certainly plumbing supplies!!! Guess when you live in a small town with only one gas station and one grocery store, it makes sense to have things people need to just run in and grab..not so in the big cities, but think that I shall remain a redneck and live in my wonderful little town, even tho it does not have everything that you want.

I am just sick over the Shayne/Dinah story line....why oh why could they not have had a happy ending?? Bad ole writers anyway!!!

I would love to see Dinah and Shayne have their happy ever after-someone please say that it still may be! I am loving the writing lately too bad too little too late. I am sick that this show is going off

I don't like anything going on with any of them anymore. Reva & Josh should've gotten to stay together & Allen Spaulding should had been a powerful S.O.B., instead of the little Whimp that his parts played. Olivia never has had a really good part & she is such a pretty lady. Everything has been too wishy washy for a very long time now. I think that Josh, Billy, Reva, Allen, Beth should just go tog & come up with their own soap.

I love Guiding Light. Why did the show have to be going off the air for them to bring back Phillip, Blake, Holly, Ed, Michelle & Danny, and Edmund? The show has revolved around newcomers Ashley, Cyrus, G, Daisy, and Christina for so long that I just stopped watching. Now you see Rick more often, Alan has developed a heart, and Lizzie is the only Spaulding that has figured out how to find happiness out side that mausoleum of a house they call a mansion.

I don't understand when Reva becamce such a mean and hateful person. She has been down right annoying at times. She treats Josh like crap. Guiding Light may have been saved had they been able to keep the core cast back. It is nice to see Beth become strong and independent and Melinda to come back and re-unite with the other musketeers. The Bauer BBQ was great. Even Rafe and his cynical attitude wasn't so painful to watch. I don't get the Natalia and Olivia story though. Natalia is an annoying character and Olivia is so interesting. They are not a match for friends let alone potential lovers.

Oh well, I have waited for a long time to see Guiding Light et to this point and it will be going off the air in about a month. Go figure that, they want to get interesting at the end.
