    Cautiously Optimistic.

    Tuesday, February 10 2009
Phillip crashes the wedding, Coop is brought to Cedars and Mallet and Marina get some mixed news.

At Company, Frank and Buzz wait for Coop to return with Beth. They wonder what they will do when he gets back, but Buzz is sure that everything will change. They talk about Coop's book. Frank hasn't finished it yet. He asks Buzz what his book would be called. "'Cautiously Optimistic'," he says. Daisy walks in and Buzz tells her that Uncle Henry is bringing home a new bride. She's confused but tells them that she is very happy with Grady. "We'll take happy wherever we can get it," Buzz says. She wants to set the table for the newlyweds and thinks they need to create a magical moment. Buzz thinks they should be digging a moat but begins digging around for champagne and candles.

Mallet and Marina return to town after a call from the adoption agency. They aren't sure why they've been called back. When they go in to see the adoption agent, she informs them that they have made the waiting list. Marina is overjoyed and leaves to call her family. Mallet stays behind. "We're not moving up on that list ever are we?" he asks. She says there are troubling details... in his wife's background. She was involved with the Santos crime family and that sent up a red flag. He angrily tells her that this isn't over and walks out. When he finds Marina, she's just received a call about a major car accident.

At the church, Lillian tries to hook Lizzie into stopping the wedding. Lizzie says they are going to go through with this. Alan is a sure thing, unlike love. Beth loved Rick and Edmund and Phillip, but all of those relationships ended in disaster. She thinks that her mother should just be happy with what she has. She stares across the room at Bill as he drinks ginger ale from a champagne glass.

Lillian is laying into Alan. He insists that he is saving her daughter. They wait until Beth appears at the end of the aisle. Lillian goes to her daughter and begs her not to do this. Beth says she is doing this for her family's future. Her mother thinks she is being the victim again. Rick tries to talk her out of it next but she won't listen. The wedding march starts and Lizzie tries to get a 'drunk' Bill to sit down. After taking a dig at her and Cyrus, he leaves instead. Beth walks down the aisle slowly.

Lizzie finds Bill outside and takes his keys, refusing to let him drive drunk. He begins kissing her but she pushes him away. He smiles smugly and walks off. She chases after him, saying that she's never known the real him. She calls a cab for him. He pretends to sleep. After she wakes him up, he tells her that she is as pretty as Roxy. She helps him to the cab.

Phillip pulls Coop from a burning car. After he drags him across the road, the car explodes. Phillip carries Coop to the hospital and drops him on a gurney. He yells for a doctor and then runs out. Coops lies there unnoticed for awhile. He coughs up blood and begins to call for Beth.

Back inside the church, Alan begins to read the vow he wrote, promising to be with Beth through her failures and with the gossip. He loves and forgives her, vowing to be her constant. "Always, I will watch over you," he says. The reverend moves on to ask if there are any objections. Phillip walks in. As he walks up the aisle, everyone's jaws drop. Stunned, Beth slowly walks down the aisle to him. As she reaches out to touch his face, she faints. Alan welcomes Phillip home. As they help Beth up, they notice blood on her dress where Phillip touched her. He explains that there has been an accident. After pulling the man from the crash, he realized it was Coop. Beth runs out and everyone chases after her. Rick drives Beth to the hospital. "Let's take a walk," Phillip says to his father.

Mallet and Marina arrive at the crash scene. They're surprised to learn that there was no one found at the scene. It only takes a moment for her to notice that it's her grandfather's car. She calls Company and is relieved to hear Buzz's voice. She tells him that the car has been totaled. "Who was in the car?" she cries. Mallet takes the phone and explains that no one was found but it doesn't look good. Marina sits on the road and cries before they begin searching. She finds Coop's cell phone and sees that the last call was from Alan.

At Company, Daisy tries to keep everyone calm. Buzz and Frank run off to the hospital. Alone, Daisy picks up a candle and puts it in the window. Mallet and Marina arrive. Daisy explains that Coop was trying to break up the wedding. The cops run out. Bill arrives. Daisy tells him that there was an accident. She becomes upset but he keeps her calm.

When Buzz and Frank arrive at Cedars, Buzz discovers Coop laying on a gurney. They grab a doctor in the hall and drag him in. Buzz yells at them for leaving his son without treatment. Frank pulls him outside and Mallet and Marina arrive. She holds her father as Frank and Mallet step aside. Mallet explains that the last call came from Alan. Lillian and Beth arrive. Beth curls up in a corner in shock.

Phillip walks his father over to his gravestone. Alan tells him he looks great. "For a dead man?" he asks. Alan tells him a lot of things have changed since he left. As he kneels down, a gun sticks out of his pants, and Phillip agrees; it doesn't even hurt where he was shot anymore.

Yipee, Phillip is back!!! This is so exciting... I hope this really brings the ratings back up.

I hope Coop survives this also. And why oh why can't Bill and Lizzie just be together? They are so cute together.

Great to see Phillip again. He is going to be an uplift for GL. I can't wait to see how he reacts to all the news since he left. Hope he doesn't want Beth anymore. She needs a reality check fast. What will she do if or when Coop dies?
I was a little confused on Coof lying in the hospital with no one there. If Buzz show him laying there how come not a nurse or doctor was around? Don't know how you can bring an injured person to the ER and not be seen.
Bill and Lizzie - at this point who cares.
    M&M - who cares.
Thank goodness for Phillip and Edmund to add some life to the show.
Hope tomorrow is not going to be another Wednesday type show.

Would anyone want to go to Springfield Hospital. They don't know who brought him and he has no ID, so let's just walk all around him and let him bleed to death. Buzz should sue them and then he can run the stupid place. Sure is good to see Phillip back. He actually looks younger than when he left, so guess this time off from acting while he did some writing has paid off for him. Hope they get the fun relationship between him and Rick back on track. GL is pulling out all the stops to try to save the show. I read that GA agreed to come back when the writing team changed. Anyone know if that has happened?

um..yeah, when someone is non responsive in the ER their consent to treatment is assumed and ID is not an issue. He has to live cause it would be too sad to have Buzz thinking about Jenna who died in an accident and then lose their son that way too. But I did like Daisy in the window, there should be more old values moments like that.

I really liked today's episode. I doubt if Phillip is back to his crazy self, but we can always hope for next week. I wonder what Lizzie is going to do when she sees him. Speaking of, I hope that she and Bill get back together soon because the whole jingling his keys around her is stupid. And I am proud of Beth, she didn't completely forget about Coop when she saw Phillip. Hopefully he'll shoot Alan tomorrow. Maybe the storylines will improve because ever since the writers strike GL has never come back.

All the acting was really good today, to bad it is shot in front of crapy cameras. Today was the first time I've watched in a long time. I thought the show was a little weird.
Why does everyone in this town die in a car crash????!!! If I lived in Springfield I would ride a bicycle everywhere.

YES! Finally two good shows in a row. Thank you Phillip! I hope that Beth & Phillip get back together & help Lizzie get her daughter & kick Daddy Alan to the curb where he belongs once again! He never learns. I don't mind him being a bad guy. But putting a hit out on anyone who gets in his way & getting by with it is getting real old!!! Couldn't believe how they just let poor Coop lie there dieing. Good grief. Is Rick the only Dr. there on staff?

Posted by GLandWT at Tuesday, February 10 2009 04:11 PM

I can't believe the hospital staff let Coop lay on that gurney and no one attended to him. When Buzz arrived and asked why no one had taken a look at him, the reply was "we didn't know who he was"... Duh!Cedars is right across the street from Company and I am sure the hospital staff eat there all the time; and furthermore, the man was hurt - it shouldn't have mattered - the man needed medical treatment. A nurse treated Grady and I don't think he gave his name. Buzz should sue for negligent and wrongful death (in case Coop should die) and if he does, I am sure he will win and probably own the town of Springfield.

I am wondering how the writers are going to re-write Phillip's past for the last few years. I hope they re-write it well - giving us something that we can be proud of the way he bounced back to reality. I too hope Phillip and Edmund will bring life back to GL.

I loved today!! I'm not sure I'd go to Cedars for treatment though, I mean, Reva kidnapped a comatose Alan that time and now Coop is just lying there bleeding all over the place...sheesh lol Can't wait for more Phillip tomorrow

I don't understand why Bill is pretending to be drunk. They need to get him and Lizzy back together. Glad Philip is back, maybe he can get Alan to leave Beth along. I like Mallet and Marina together I hope they get to adopt a baby. I guess everyone can't be in the middle of a exciting s/l. but it is line with real life. I hope this is not how Coop leaves the show, I was hoping they would keep him on to aggravate Alan. lol
